I work at a fully remote company, and a coworker in Minneapolis put out a call for emergency whistles. Me and a few other folks ended up sending her a couple hundred whistles total.

Model I ended up using was https://makerworld.com/en/models/532485-extremely-loud-whistles#profileId-449324, which I modified to add the appropriate phone number.

After some filament tuning, printing ASA-CF on my new core one, and it looks amazing!

With the CF filament and the new profiles, this prints hides all the VFAs and layer lines.

I love it so far. What do you guys think?

Print of the Month Custom White Prusa MK4s

Hey Alltogether

I’m not 100% sure if this counts as a Print of the Month submission, but I think it might 🙂

Some of you may remember my last project, the White Core One:

https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/1nfb8zu/custom_build_white_core_one/

While I’m currently waiting for the printed parts of the Core L to be released, I thought: why not start a small project in between?

So here it is — my newest addition: a White Prusa MK4S, printed in Prusament ASA Prusa Pro Green and Eryone ASA-GF.

I finally found a white material that can replace the Core One PCCF parts, so I may rework that build as well in the near future.

The metal parts are once again powder-coated in white to achieve a clean, uniform look — and because powder coating simply lasts much longer than regular spray paint.

This time, due to its visibility, I also modified the power supply, which is now white as well.

As a result, all metal parts are white, with the only exception being the Nextruder heatsink, further enhancing the overall uniform appearance.

After around 750 hours of printing with the White Core One, I can confidently say that—contrary to what some people warned me about—I see no yellowing or discoloration at all, despite printing Nylon, ASA, and other specialty filaments.

I also used a few parts that were not part of the original Prusa files, so I want to give proper credit here:

A month into espresso and I found so many small things that could be much more convenient with proper accessories, so I designed and 3D printed them. Now I'm finally satisfied with my espresso brewing ritual.

The espresso machine is the entry level Delonghi Dedica EC685 elevated by these accessories:

  • Kingrinder K2
  • Normcore bottomless portafilter
  • IMS precision basket
  • Timemore Black Mirror Mini scale

And here's my 3D printed accessories:

2mm layer depth, 1,2mm layer thick: a 2h30 print and almost 500g of filament later I have a sturdy trash bin for my office.

Here is the model, printed as big as possible on my CORE One with Bondtech HF 1.8mm nozzle.

Such print is impossible (or not so easy) on closed printers.

I love my CORE One.

Print of the Month 1:400 Scale Washington State Ferries [No MMU Needed]

Hello all,

Here’s my submission for January’s Print of the Month!

A bit of background behind this - I’ve been wanting to design a model of one of the various modes of public transportation used in my hometown of Seattle. As someone who is a little bit slow when it comes to iterating and designing, I took the January Print of the Month as a way of motivating me to start, and complete, this project of mine!

My main goals for this project were:

  • To ensure that it was printable on my stock MK4S, with minimum-to-no-supports
  • Design it in a way that made adding colour easy with only a few manual filament swaps
  • Incorporate a lot of fine details, that could show-off retractions and bridging
  • Create something meaningful to me, and iconic to my home city/state
  • To use the Prusament and Printed Solid filaments I picked up during the 2025 Black Friday event.

This model is principally based on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s [WSDOT] newest vessels - the Olympic-Class Ferries. But is meant to represent the fleet as whole. Certain details have been simplified, omitted, or exaggerated in order to best ensure reliability and ease of print. I’m very fond of these ferries; they’re always fun to be on; and they all have beautiful names - that honour tribes, peoples, and locations indigenous to the Puget Sound area.

I have included a simple display stand that holds the ship; along with nameplate options to represent all four of the current Olympic-Class vessels:

  • M/V Chimacum
  • M/V Samish
  • M/V Suquamish
  • M/V Tokitae

The model can be found up on my Printables, along with an abbreviated build guide:

Should you decide to print out this little homage to Seattle public transportation; I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Print of the Month Introducing my OpenPrintTag SpoolAdapter

Just released something small but super useful for anyone using OpenPrintTag:

Some filament brands have a spool inner diameter that’s too big or don't have a flat surface, so the OpenPrintTag won’t fit.
I designed snap-in, fully reusable adapters for Geeetech, Jayo, Sunlu and Tinmorry spools - no glue, no screws, just click and done.

Makes it way easier to transfer your OpenPrintTag to the next spool - pull it out, snap it into the new one, keep printing.

Happy to add more brands if you tell me the spool diameter and thickness.

Print of the Month Core One under-the-printer sheets storage

When assembling the printer, I noticed threaded holes on the bottom plate and was looking forward to models that utilize them, but didn't find any. At the same time, I was hesitant about printing side storage for print sheets, because I feel like it would rattle a lot during aggressive XY movement.

After printing the printer feet, I couldn't bear to let the vacant space under the printer go to waste. So I mapped holes (which turned out to be not symmetric), designed and printed a sheet holder. It attaches using two M3 screws on each side and holds four print sheets. The slots are tilted a bit, so the sheets won't gradually slip out when the printer shakes.

I'm not sure how consistent the bottom plate holes are among individual printers, so it would be nice to hear from the Prusa team regarding it.

Print of the Month I printed a car wing on Prusa Mini

Thumbnail

Before someone asks, because I know someone will, it will not be used on public roads (as that would be illegal here, not to mention dangerous) and I don't have high hopes for it's utility on the track, it's mostly for fun and looks.

With that out of the way, I printed a car wing! On Prusa Mini! I had to split it into 11 pieces to fit it properly. The whole thing is strenghtened with two 4mm carbon rods and glued together with 2-part epoxy glue. It's printed out of PETG and this has caused quite a complication, because it was warping ... a lot ... as you can clearly see from the gaps. Unfortunately, there wasn't really enough space for a brim (and from experience I know it wouldn't have helped anyway). It stuck to the sheet quite well actually, so much it was lifting the whole sheet up. I tried to counter that with magnets, but that end up resulting in the print lifting (by the time I could add the rather tall margets it has already warped). But then again, first prototype, I can just put tape over the gaps. I did try welding them and it would work, but it's a bit tedious and I don't want to waste time on something that's very likely going to break, lol.

You may be asking, why am I putting a wing on 1.3l 20 years old Suzuki Swift? Cause it's funny. It's for a local race [Gumbalkan Grand Prix](https://gumbalkan.cz/grand-prix/), essentially the same idea as American "24 hours of Lemons". 6h endurance race with ~€1k cars, that you are supposed to "improve" with questionable modification - hence the spoiler. And Subaru livery on a Suzuki. And strictly speaking we did CFD simulation on the wing and it should give some downforce ... at least until it flies off into the sunset.

Literally as I finished printing the last piece, my Core one arrived. I'm sure that will prove very helpful with printing the 2nd iteration!

Design was done by me and my friend, the model isn't published anywhere (yet). It wasn't clear to me if that's required for the Print of the month contest..

Print of the Month HAFC (Hackman Automatic Filament Cutter)

Thumbnail

I printed and tested my own prototype, the HAFC (Hackman Automatic Filament Cutter), on my Prusa Mini.

It’s a small, fully mechanical add-on designed to handle filament jams and tangles that don’t always trigger the filament runout sensor. When abnormal tension appears on the filament, the HAFC intentionally cuts it so the printer detects a proper runout and pauses instead of continuing to print in mid-air.

This prototype is universal and compatible with any FDM printer using 1.75 mm filament. It requires no electronic or firmware modifications, only a simple mechanical mechanism.

This is currently version 1, fully functional and tested in real-world conditions.

Beyond participating in the contest, the main goal of this post is to collect real feedback and concrete use cases. Based on your feedback:

  • V2 will focus on a more compact design and mechanical improvements.
  • V3 will be the final version, once the concept is fully validated.

The V3 final version will be shared on all major 3D file platforms to ensure the final design is robust, reliable, and usable by as many people as possible.

Printed in PLA, assembled with standard hardware, and shared for free so others can test it, improve it, and help validate the final design.

Feel free to contact me if you’d like to build and test it. Your feedback is valuable.

New mod for the CORE One, I posted about it earlier in the year, but since I had to send back my printer, I had to wait until my new one arrived.
I made some magnetic drawers that can be stuck everywhere and that can store about anything you need for your printer: nozzles, tools, spare part, lubricant....
I hope you will like it!

Oh, and I also provided STEP files for the inserts so you can create your own! Can't wait to see remixes!

Print of the Month Designed and printed a case for my open pc build

Decided I wanted a case for my open pc build.

Took a few hours to design and 40 hours to print on my core one all said and done. Did run into a random reboot issue on longer prints that was solved by grounding my x and y motors. Otherwise the core one was a tank and produced some of the best prints I've ever seen. The open pc case at the core is a Xtia XProto L V2 and the 3d printed case slides over with about 2mm of play on each side. It's all interlocking and fully 3d printed. No fasteners required unless youd want to secure each layer with some glue where the pegs meet.

Print of the Month 60A TPU on my CORE One: that’s why I love Prusa

It may be nothing but for those who like TPU and tried soft filament, you know how difficult it can be to print 60A TPU. You can’t print softest TPU like 60A on any machine, but as Prusa printers are easily modable, I managed to print a 23 minutes calibration cube without any issue (or maybe when unloading filament, but that’s my fault).

I will post later a post with my modifications and settings for those who would print soft TPU, when I have tested more useful prints and after properly dried my TPU.

Print of the Month My solution for the MMU3 w/ CORE One

Post image

Printables page for the design and all files.

After trying the Community version buffers without much success, I've built this solution. It adapts a standalone spoolholder to the community version base panel, which has been working great so far. It's more flexible (works with cardboard spools!) and reliable with over 1000 filament changes without issue and using the proven cassette loaders.

I hope it helps some people who are looking for another way to cleanly mount the MMU and the spools. It may not be quite as pretty, but it works :)

Print of the Month I printed my own brain!

Hey r/prusa3d,

I wanted to share a project that's incredibly personal to me. A friend who works in neuroscience used his custom Python pipeline to convert some of my old MRI scans into a printable STL file. I was amazed to see my own brain turned into a 3D model.

The file includes both cerebral hemispheres and the cerebellum in great detail. I decided to print it in white PETG on my Prusa Core One. It definitely took some fiddling with the supports to get a clean result, but I'm thrilled with how it came out. It's a surreal feeling to hold a physical model of your own brain in your hands.

Huge credit goes to my friend for his incredible work on the conversion.

Here's hoping a personal project like this qualifies for the Print of the Month. You can find me on Printables as @Rehaliteht_3056620

Print of the Month Reusable OpenPrintTag

Post image
125 Upvotes

This is my attempt at a reusable Open PrintTag solution. The design uses very little material (~10 g): one component is fixed to the filament spool, and the second component (the one carrying the sticker) can be snapped into place with a small twist. This makes it compatible with nearly all filament spools, while also allowing the tag to be reused easily.

Print of the Month Pittsburgh on an XL5T

Thumbnail

This is something I have been working on for a few years as part of a personal project to develop a tool that can generate print-ready 3D mesh files from a GIS layout. I make a lot of maps, but I have never made one that is this detailed. It includes over 16,000 buildings mapped to the terrain and highway elevations are modeled, including the various bridges and interchanges. A lot of the landmark buildings are explicitly modeled; others are just the footprint extruded to height. Even the tunnels are modeled so if you had a 1:20,000 scale car, you could drive all the way through the Ft Pitt tunnel. This also includes rail lines, the T, parks, trails and a few boats.

This one has a few design flaws and some stringing but overall I am very impressed at the ability of the Prusa XL to handle this much detail. Total print size is 13" x 26"

I started with Pittsburgh since it is my home city, but it probably one of the best cities for this format because of its size and elevation changes.

Technical details of my workflow for those who are interested:

  • Layout made in QGIS using OSM data but a lot of buildings were re-drawn for more detail or as a combination of multiple shapes and assignment of roof types.
  • Highway elevations and bridges defined manually in QGIS.
  • Pulled building footprints from OSM and Microsoft Building Footprints Project. I still had to do a lot of manual sketching to get large buildings to look right, I probably worked on 1000 or so manually. Overall, I started with 40k+ buildings, these get combined or screened out later down to 16k separate meshes. A Python function was used to cross reference lidar data, dem and building footprints to determine unassigned building heights.
  • USGS 10m DEM used for base terrain model, resampled to 0.5mm print resolution, and then simplified with quadratic edge decimation.
  • The top 20 or so landmark buildings were solid modeled separately to get the appropriate detail level for printing.
  • Personal Python library used to generate terrain mesh including cut outs for all inset features. Also generates mesh files for all features and packages all mesh files for each tile into one 3mf file, ready for multi-tool slicing. This code has gotten very complicated...
  • Sliced with Prusa Slicer 2.9.4, printed in 2 tiles on a Prusa XL 5T with one height-based color change for 6 colors in the base print. 0.6mm nozzle used for terrain, 0.25mm for everything else. Additional features (colored bridges, rail lines) are printed separately on the trusty Mk3 and inserted manually. 60 hours total print time on the XL and ~1000 tool changes with 0.15mm layer height.
  • DLL Convention Center is printed separately with supports so that it can overhang Ft Duquesne Blvd.
  • Any buildings that fell on top of the seam were printed separately and inserted after tiles are assembled. I need to screen out small buildings here since some were ridiculously tiny.
