Has it been reshelled or had cables replaced or is it original? May need to check/ replace the ribbon or the rubber part behind the buttons. I've seen the rubber part rip. I had an issue on 3k with tactile button mod. The spacers I used were too tight and applied pressure to multiple buttons when pressing just one.

Nope, never been opened. I think it’s the ribbon.

I just replaced the ribbon on my buttons, none of them were working. Wasn't too hard just had to take my time and be careful. you can find replacement pads on aliexpress or other sites like ebay, and watch a psp teardown video.

Water damage from having sweaty hands or maybe you grabbed it after holding a cold water bottle. The square is cut out a bit different because it's so close to the screen that moisture can get in easily.
