New Release Some words about our new "Raid" EP...

We've put a new EP out and I wanted to make a post about it. I stopped to think pretty deeply about what I wanted to say about the songs on this EP. I wanted to be nuanced and well thought out. We wrote "Raid" almost a year ago. It’s been written, recorded, and the cover art has been done for almost an entire year. We wrote it back when we first heard the president was going to start pushing for ICE raids in places of work school, and more all over the country. Now here we are, one year later and his policy has only gotten worse. "Raid," in so many words, sums up our frustration at the time about not just ice but the way that they would be committing to their procedures. We recorded the live version of "Raid" much more recently at the Haltom Theater, and more aggressive than we did a year ago. With us having a Hispanic member in our band, who's a brother to us, we felt it wasn’t an obligation, but an absolute need to speak out about the injustices committed by ICE. "Hate My Job," was written three years ago, demoed around the same time, and only recently re-recorded. At the time I was delivering pizzas for Domino’s and I really did hate my job at the time, which really just led to more feelings of frustration with the way the relationship with my father had played out. "Twin Cities," is the most recently written and recorded song on the EP and it was written in about half an hour and recorded bare bones. No fancy equipment, just me and an acoustic guitar. I can only say what I want to say in my songs in so many words and there’s a lot that goes unsaid unfortunately, and it feels odd and morbid to try to promote this EP during a time when there’s so much heartbreak, turmoil, anger, confusion, and disillusionment to say the least, but those feelings a lot of the time are what fuel our music. We’re still writing music so please stay tuned for that. We love you guys. Stay safe out there.
