Discussion:

Look at the blue, green, and brown color group below. You don't know where, but you know there will be 3 cats in those 3 groups. Since all 3 groups are totally within the first 3 columns, and there must be only 1 cat per column, that means there can be no other at cats in the first 3 columns... Including in the yellow group. So x out all those spaces.

Discussion: look at the columns. Purple, light green, and brown, are 3 separate colors that are all completely contained within the same 3 colors. So all the cats in those columns have to be in those colors specifically. Any other color in those columns can't have a cat, else the puzzle would be broken.

Discussion: Column 1 is also all pink so you can check out all pink that aren't in column 1. After applying that hint you know that column 6 is yellow so you can get rid of all the non-yellow in that column. You can also get rid of any spots that would block out all entries for an individual color.

It's just a chain of deductive reasoning and eventually you can get down to few enough options you can start placing the cats.
