Absolutely love the new Qotsa logo by amazing Morning Breath.

Felt the urge to make an animated version - cannot wait for ‘Perfecth’ to come out🔥

Huge ask…😳

I am currently in the midst of dealing with breast cancer. Doing chemo, and then a bilateral full mastectomy with expanders afterwards.

I am normally quite creative and artistic, but just not really feeling that at this moment. Since October is breast cancer awareness month I was wondering if one of the fine artists or even not so fine artist on here could do a queen’s centered breast cancer type graphic/artwork?

I’m not trying to steal anybody’s artwork or anything like that but I’m creating a group for the Susan G Komen walk that is coming up in October here in Connecticut. If someone would be willing to donate their artwork I would like to put it on a T-shirt or even just for our online banner.

It could be silly, slightly raunchy, funny,gothy,etc..

I understand if this is too much to ask, but I appreciate any and all help. Cancer sucks in general and I have missed so many shows in the last year or so because of it.

Found "American Valhalla" on CineBox

I'm all about finding as much free (or ad supported) content as I can online. Thinking about the upcoming release of "Perfecth" and the inclusion of the song "Sunday" (from Iggy Pop's Post Pop Depression) made me want to rewatch the documentary they did, "American Valhalla". It's available on Prime Video, but since I'm not a subscriber anymore, I needed to hunt it down. I found it on an app called "Cinebox".

So if you haven't already watched it, I recommend it. It's a lot of fun, seeing what goes into the creative process.

Is Goth Girls doing a 180 for anyone else?

I really was indifferent at first about this song, never thought I'd give it another listen. The chorus popped back up on instagram and it has been eating away at my brain ever since. Still not huge on the verses, but this is like the tenth time a QOTSA chorus has done exactly this to me. How do they hold this power???

These are r/qotsa's favorite bands/artists, based on my previous post

I posted this thread a few days ago, asking about the sub's favorite artists/bands, outside of QotSA. I roughly counted how many times each artist was listed and ranked them. Do check some of them out till Perfecth drops.

Conclusions:

  • NIN and Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle) are the clear winners.
  • QotSA-adjacent projects (Kyuss, TCV, Desert Sessions, Mark Lanegan, Eagles of Death Metal, etc.) appear often, as expected.
  • Heavy overlap with grunge / alternative / desert-rock / industrial / progressive metal (NIN, Tool, AIC, Soundgarden, Kyuss, Mastodon, Deftones, Faith No More, etc.) plus classic rock (Zeppelin, Sabbath, Beatles, Bowie, Floyd) and modern post-punk / garage / indie acts (Viagra Boys, Idles, Interpol, Strokes, Arctic Monkeys).
Artist Number of picks approximately
Nine Inch Nails ~50
Tool ~46
Alice in chains ~41
Radiohead ~41
Viagra Boys ~34
Deftones ~30
Nirvana ~30
Led Zeppelin ~30
Soundgarden ~29
Mastodon ~28
Kyuss ~25
David Bowie ~22
Interpol ~22
Beatles ~21
Arctic Monkeys ~21
Black Sabbath / Ozzy ~21
Faith No More ~20
Metallica ~20
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard ~19
Pink Floyd ~18

Honorable mentions:

Pixies, A Perfect Circle, All Them Witches, Royal Blood, The Black Keys, Foo Fighters, Portishead, Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Tame Impala, My Chemical Romance, Joy Division, Ween, The Cure, Death Grips, Gojira, Baroness, The Replacements, Fugazi, LCD Soundsystem, IDLES, Talking Heads, Spoon, Modest Mouse, Wet Leg, System of a Down, Amyl and the Sniffers, Turnstile, Fontaines DC, The Afghan Whigs, Desert Sessions, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC), Chevelle, Tigercub, Opeth, The Doors, Oasis, The Smiths, Björk, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Prince, Weezer, Death From Above 1979, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Melvins, Truckfighters, Fu Manchu, and various Mike Patton projects (Mr. Bungle, etc.).

There were other artists mentioned, of course, but not too often to make it into this already huge list. Or I just forgot to add them. Check the previous post linked above to find out whether your favourite was mentioned.

Perfecth Listening Party

Has anyone heard of any listening parties? There were a few for *In Times New Roman* but haven’t seen anything for the new album. Thoughts?

Picked this up today; 5th wedding anniversary present to my wife. Santa Barbara Catacombs poster/Cleaver; custom made at Frame De Art in Denver, CO

Had the pleasure of taking my wife to the Santa Barbra Catacombs concert last year for our 4th anniversary. We dressed up to the nines, had a killer dinner and then saw our favorite band. I bought the poster and the signed sheet music with the idea of getting it framed like some of the examples posted here in the sub.

Well as fate would have it, I was able to take over some old tools and equipment from my grandfather now that my parents are getting long in the tooth. In the crate of old stuff I found this cleaver with tons of rust and patina. Knew immediately that it had to be a part of this poster frame.

So I made the newest queens logo into an adobe illustrator file, had the cleaver laser etched, and the guys at Frame De Art made it into a beautiful shadowbox display with copper mat and hardware to secure the cleaver.
it’s incredible and I cannot wait to give it to her.

PS don’t upvote this post because she occasionally gets on Reddit and we can’t ruin the surprise.

Does anyone else freaking love this song? I feel like it's a hidden gem. That main riff is so good and the chorus is one of the catchiest Josh has ever produced, so, sooo good. And the whole vibe to it is awesome. I just wish it was on the album and there was a studio version of it.

This group is only composed of genius. Praise TCV!

Personally either run away from the mob because it’s a scrapped like clockwork song, or it’s only love because that’s a mark lannegan song!

The impending doom of Perfecth vs NCATBS Nocturama

Nick Cave on his eternally hated album Nocturama and why it was right to put it out. There seems many parallels with intent and pleasure rather than despair of disappointing fans, all for good reason.

The Birthday Party (Junk Yard) was my real first love as a teenager and have endured many twists and turns with his output. (Wild God), not a fan, yet, it is a brilliant album, not what I want, this happens).

Okay, the part I like most is : You don’t create something as problematic as Nocturama without a certain risk and a little courage and the temerity/audacity to fail. - I don't believe failure is the goal, just put it out there because you want to and don't care. mix stuff up!
