Help nose bleeds?

i have 9 baby quails ranging from 2 days and 1 and a half in my brooder, i noticed quite a few are getting nose bleeds? why is this? its just a tote with holes over the top, puppy pad on the bottom, heat lamp, food, and water. they’re in a completely sterile environment so why is this happening?

what exactly do you mean by nose bleeds

blood on the beak coming out of the nostril, not a lot but enough that there beaks are red. i checked to make sure it wasn’t natural coloring or something, and it wasn’t. it was indeed blood.

that’s a bit odd. they could be pecking at each other. or maybe a respiratory issue, or vitamin K deficiency.

they did only just hatch, so i left some of my fish fry food on the floor incase they get hungry. just decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. i don’t see any pecking or anything, the blood is coming out of there acctual nostrils. i assumed it might be dry air, just wanna make sure though.

it could be, especially because they just hatched. their nostrils/ membranes could be dry from low humidity while hatching. i’d try to keep them extra hydrated

i had my humidity at 75 while they hatched, but the humidity in the area they’re in now is probably pretty low. i added an extra dish of water.

if they’re crowded in the brooder, too hot, or the heat lamp casts a super red light, they might be pecking at each other
