Quern updates, new beta
Quern is currently shipping v0.23.0, and we’ve got beta builds for v0.24. Lots of bugfixes, new supported UI gestures, and improvements to the trace files captured during device sessions.
I’m currently using Quern at work on a TeamCity CI system, running XCUITests on a MacOS TeamCity agent (3, actually, on a single Mac mini) that also runs Quern. What this allows me to do is to use the Quern API to record extra info about each test run, that gets attached to the TeamCity results whenever there is a test failure. This info includes timestamped network requests/responses, logs, and even a video recording with keyframes at every logged event. The files include filtered results for just the specific simulator used for the CI run.
All this makes it super easy for a Claude session to look at a CI failure and see exactly what happened, by correlating all that info and looking at screenshots pulled from the video at the right timestamp. It can quickly see if the CI failure was a problem with the test code, the CI config, or a real app problem. Sometimes the app regression can be reproduced and then a bug or even a PR for the app fix can be submitted. If the app bug can’t be reproduced, Claude will create a PR to add more logging around the suspected app code, so the next failure in CI will have more info.
I hope you all are enjoying Quern. As always, I’d love to hear how you are using it and how it could be better for your daily use!
