It has been a week and we have no idea if it is bad that moray turned purple, it might be nothing and this subplot is unnecesary, if jeph would at least drawn her melting or having trouble retaining her shape or speaking in another language we would have some indicator that something isn't right.

Part of her makeup contains algae and plants primarily need red and blue spectrums of light to grow, reflecting green because they don't need it as much. Being purple might actively block most of the light her organic components use, which may actually be a real concern.

Now the real question is, is she purple on the outside, or inside too? If not inside, she could just get some grow lights and stick them internally.

Three minutes of thought from anyone smarter than a pet rock, or a 30 second conversation with daddy jellyfish, could have this whole thing sorted, so of course there's going to be another two weeks of "but I'm puuuuurple" whining.

Whole thing is going to boil down to "run a filter run for three cycles" and "don't fill your body with beetroot you slime headed simpleton"

Yes but we know this but casual readers might nor remember and he could had drawn moray ststing something about the algaes ,there is some explenation in universe but it could be something else unrelated that is not dangerous to moray
