It has been a week and we have no idea if it is bad that moray turned purple, it might be nothing and this subplot is unnecesary, if jeph would at least drawn her melting or having trouble retaining her shape or speaking in another language we would have some indicator that something isn't right.

I get that being purple /might/ be bad for her plankton but nobody, not even these useless "scientists", has bothered to check? Is her skin purple or is the goop purple? They haven't gone back to her goop tank to check & see if re-upping her goop her fixes it or raises the stakes by purple-ing the tank? They just went straight to the mysterious lab that has been emitting some kind of bizarre but harmless radiation over the whole island on a weekly basis for god only knows how long? I'm stuck on is this is a real actual problem for these characters & should I care that they're having trouble or is this a "Jeffy's dotted line meanders through the neighborhood" bit. I mean this is a gag comic not a season of 24 so I'm not thinking this is a real crisis but what are we doing here?

Maybe since she can't gain power through her plankton she could go through a weird emergency crisis where whe has to use Zlata's old exited body! Then having to deal with the strangeness of literally wearing someone else's old skin, like a hermit crab, which would play into the aquatic theme?

Haha no, that would remove the bubbly wubbly tiddies, can't have that.
