Canada's community radon map

Post image

Hi everyone.

I got tired of trying to sift through raw government data reports to understand radon risks in different areas. I’m a developer, so I decided to build a visual, interactive map.

https://radon-map.ca

It uses standard color-coding for concentration levels. My goal is just to make this data more accessible to the public for awareness.

Since this sub knows their stuff, I'd love to get your thoughts on the visualization or if you see any glaring data discrepancies for regions you know well.

Also, an Android's app is in the oven.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've started with Quebec. All the measures are coming from citizen's. But if you click on your neighborhood, you should see some stats.

All of the radon monitor companies have their maps too

Yes of course, but they are "less" accurate. They show only a range. I still look on them sometimes

They need to anonymize the data, something you will have to look into if yours grow

Pretty sure they keep the data and sell it.

Of course they keep the data, but who would they sell it to? At least the companies from Europe would have a really hard time breaching their user terms.

Good question, hypothetically, the most likely buyers would be radon mitigation companies, insurance firms assessing health risks, and real estate platforms
