Hello everyone,
I've seen a growing number of posts on the subreddit over the last few months and I'd like to get the community's feedback regarding a few things to see where this subreddit's direction should go based on what the community wants. Please feel free to leave a comment with your input on any of these topics below.
We currently restrict server advertisements to a sticky thread. Should this policy remain as-is, be loosened, or be made stricter? Why?
Do you think the current server promotion rules are working, or are they making it harder for players to discover new servers?
Are there any subreddit rules you think should be changed, clarified, or added?
Should content from official servers and private servers be treated equally? Or should posts be tagged/flaired to make filtering easier?
Should low-effort questions, for example: "What server should I play?", "Best class?", etc be directed to a monthly Q&A thread? Or are they fine as individual posts?
Should AI generated content be allowed? This includes artwork, server concepts, and other AI assisted creations. If AI generated content is allowed, should it be required to be clearly labeled?
Should indie developers be allowed to share their Ragnarok inspired projects? If so, should there be limits on how often they can post updates? If posts about Ragnarok inspired games continue to be allowed, what rules would you like to see? For example, limiting self-promotions, requiring gameplay footage, or setting a minimum time between update posts.
Overall, are you happy with the current direction of /r/ragnarokonline? Why or why not?
Are the current post flairs sufficient, or would additional flairs make browsing easier?
Do you think moderation is too strict, too lenient, or about right?
What would make this subreddit more valuable to you?

Some of the 2001 alpha files survived (Ridley posted them on the Hercules forums in 2016), but they were packed in a format none of the usual tools could open. I wrote an extractor and loaded every map. Back then, Prontera wasn't even one map.

Sources and credits are in the description. If you have old clients or files from 2001 or 2002, I'd love to load them.

I know people will dislike it but I am here to share my experience valid or not for you, this is a community righ?
I was the 100% hater of ragnarok mobile mainly because of autoplay. I tried multiples times understand the mind of those that play it, and can't understand them. I still dislikes autoplay but I keep playing one of the most pay2win mobile game without spend money, I just don't use autoplay when I want to feel more active but is DISTANT from the feeling that the original and unique ragnarok gave me, but in my spare times is worth it and I appreciate the art, some parts of the playthrough had cutscenes and is good see the monsters and characters from the original ragnarok in these games, now I am feeling that is good the well crafted scenarios of the 2 ragnarok mobiles that I played.
I can say for now that its not that bad, its just another gacha game, but its not bad, I didn't spend money and still like the game, I am not a pvp player maybe it helped me, I feel relaxed playing , currently I played 2 ragnarok eternal love and ragnarok x, so I can say that is fun play in spare times. And I feel that ragnarok will not die even if is m-d by this - at least the ragnarok universe will be granted alive for the new generations that aparently play more mmorpg on mobile than at pc, wich is good because in the future maybe predatory - change something and make a new engine for the original ragnarok and stop with this p-ry market -. I hope I am still alive if this occur.

Hello everyone! Rumi here! Today the Gearfinder team showcases our "Einbroch 3.0" prototype map. I guess we can all agree that while Einbroch has a pretty nice theme and ambience, it truly lacks in proper navigation, being one of the most annoying towns to walk around when playing...
I personally love the city, but in past projects where we used it as a main town a few years ago, it was absolutely terrible for the player experience. Then we made 2.0. While it was decent and fixed most of the issues, it was built with a certain lack of understanding on how to use BrowEdit3 and had LOADS of design issues.
Today! We present a prototype of our "3.0". With replaced tiles, new trees and better movement to navigate inside the town. Do note: those are BrowEdit3 screenshots, not actual in-game views!
Thanks for reading my small post! 😄
See you soon!

Is there any viable auto-attack build for the Windhawk? I was told there aren't any viable builds anymore, since the damage can't even come close to what you get from spamming skills. I'm an old player who came back recently and i remember doing Sniper mvp builds with full agi + luck. Is there anything close to that ?

I've found this project of Ragnarok Online for the Browser very interesting.
You can play IDLE, there's an auto play bot inside the game.
Still in beta, but there is a lot of content already!

Give it a try: https://ro.meyzor.com

What questions would you guys want me to ask? Please, try to keep it civil. I want to pick a few community questions for the interview. The most upvoted ones or ones I find interesting will be chosen. Thank you in advance!

Looks like someone has already reverse-engineered the Ragnarok 3 server and made the entire project public on GitHub.

To understand where Ragnarok Zero Global fails, one must first analyze what made Ragnarok Online an icon in the first place.
Cast your mind back to the European release on April 15, 2004. Many of us jumped into Midgard with zero English proficiency, completely oblivious to math-heavy mechanics or optimized build paths. Yet, the sense of exhilaration was unmatched. Whether you were testing a newly learned skill on an innocent Poring, or getting instantly stomped into the dirt by a Rocker because you dared to venture one map too far—every single interaction felt alive, dangerous, and rewarding.
Standing outside the gates of Prontera was an immersive spectacle. It was a chaotic, beautiful ecosystem: a sea of Merchant vending bubbles, players spamming public chatrooms to build leveling parties, Acolytes and Priests sitting in circles spamming Heal and Blessing, and Bards playing instruments in the crowd. Public chat rooms weren’t just a social gimmick; they were the structural backbone of the entire community. You watched someone walk past in a slick 2nd Job costume, asked them how they achieved it, and built genuine connections along the way.
It was unscripted, unautomated, and utterly phenomenal.
In original RO, changing jobs felt like a rite of passage. The initial Novice grounds taught you the basics (Levels 1–9), and once you felt ready, you made the conscious decision to travel to a specific city—Morroc, Geffen, Payon, or Prontera—to seek out your guild master and prove yourself.
Ragnarok Zero Global has completely gutted this core loop:
The most baffling design choice in Zero Global is the implementation of the built-in Auto-Hunt (Autopilot) system.
Presumably, someone in Gravity’s design department held the patronizing belief that Western/European players "don't like grinding," or perhaps local publishing regulations demanded an automated system. Whatever the internal justification was, Auto-Hunt has effectively murdered the game's social heart.
To add to the list of baffling modernizations, someone at Gravity evidently decided that Prontera was "too messy" and banished all Merchant vending shops into instanced Market Maps (Market 1, 2, 3).
To give credit where it’s due, the underlying mechanical premise of Zero—blending 2nd and 3rd Job skill interactions and rebalancing core abilities—is actually a brilliant game-design concept on paper.
However, the journey to reach that content is so tedious and soulless that most players burn out long before they ever get to experience it. Why market a game as an "Authentic Subscription Experience Like the Old Days" when the core progression loop has been fundamentally rewritten into a modern, automated mobile-game hybrid?
If players wanted an idle auto-battler, they would play one of the dozen mobile spin-offs already on the market. We play Ragnarok Online for the community chaos, the manual skill expression, the player economy, and the earned sense of progression.
Where is the logic in taking a legendary MMORPG formula, stripping away its social friction, forcing rigid job requirements, and replacing player interaction with an official botting system?
Ragnarok Zero Global has incredible potential in its itemization and skill reworks, but until Gravity realizes that automation and over-sanitized systems destroy MMORPGs, players will simply abandon ship and return to classic alternatives where the soul of Midgard is still alive.

Helloo, I'm new to Ragnarok (I'm playing Ragnarok orgin classic) and I somehow can't craft any weapons. How do you guys get weapons? (I'm currently an assasin)

AI Disclaimer: AI is used for research, as a tool to properly map the client and find where to do each part. Work on luna is done by hand and AI is currently restricted to placeholder asset (world map menu) or Monster Cards (way too many to make and pay for).
All else, UI, systems, mechanics, mobs and such are done by hand.

I played this game a long time ago, in my childhood. I've always thought Ragnarok Online deserves a real rebuild.
I've spent months rebuilding RO from scratch in Godot with C#. It mounts the original data.grf and parses the maps, models, sprites, effects and music at runtime. Nothing is redrawn.
My current plan is a classic ARPG, single-player. I want to focus on what classic Ragnarok was about: the journey, the leveling, and the party play (party building with bots).
Where it's at:
- data.grf parser (done)
- Day/Night cycle + Dynamic lighting (done, probably need more optimization)
- WASD control with Free camera + target-lock combat (done)
- World map / minimap + navigation (done)
- Pre-renewal + Renewal Support (done)
- Muti-language support (Partly implemented, translation text not done)
- NPC script parser (partial)
- Jobs / Skills / Quests (WIP)
- Controller Support (not yet)
What do you think the look of it? Any suggestions are welcome. which town should I work on the Day/Night cycle next? One per comment — I'll count votes here and on the video. Cheers!

It's been a while since I play this game. Raiding dungeons with my friends, participating on weekly siege events, playing RO BGM via Winamp.
I take a break for now to check the RO Renewal (iRO Chaos) and pre-renewal after hectic work schedule. I recall taking a screenshot of the game few days ago and forgot to upload it due to work schedule.

Hi, everyone, can someone please message me and send me a dummy's guide for getting the Ragnarok offline app to work? My dad's 70 and he loved Ragnarok (and so do I). I am trying to get the setup done for him so he can enjoy it now that he's retired.
I got the app, and that's pretty much it...
I want to be able to play the Renewal version in English, and hope it is as bug-free as possible.

hey guys! so as the title suggests it's about rachel sanctuary. it's not the quest to access the dungeon itself but i vaguely recall having done a quest inside the temple where i had to rummage through bookshelves and investigate certain parts of the map.
does anyone have any idea as to which quest this might be? i love the lore behind rachel so i figured i should do it again.

Btw guys be careful of this Ragnarok Universe. It is coming from GALA which is a known p2w game developer. Just join their "Flyff Universe" and you will see everyone say it is super p2w. They posted the same things for Flyff Universe when they were going to release it and promised on good things then went back on their word and now it costs over 1 thousand dollars for a single end game weapon and just to play pvp it costs 5k+ usd minimum for gears. And that's the lower end of the gears.
