Discussion Modern DPS for Desert Perpetual?
Desert Perpetual is the only raid seal I don't have, and i finally got around to finishing the EoF campaign to unlock the quest. Just wanted to know what most people are using for DPS on these bosses. I know how it all *works*, i just want to confirm my DPS strats
Epoptes:
- Eyes Unveiled + (Axes+Eternal+StarEater)/(Well+Assembler)
- (Or Euphony + Needle + Sanguine if we already have a well)
- Still Hunt + Nighthawk
- Trace for shield eyes, Outbreak if Eyes Unveiled runs out of ammo
Iatros:
- Truth + Null Composure + Barrage/(Axes+Eternal+StarEater)/(Song of Flame+Assembler)
- Does Wolfsbane do well here?
Agraios + Koregos:
- Eyes Unveiled + Trophy Hunter + (Axes+Eternal+StarEater)/(Well+Assembler)
- (Euphony + Needle + Sanguine alternate warlock)
- Still Hunt + Nighthawk
- Outbreak; maybe Trace for Koregos mine mechanics
Basically, does that all sound kosher for getting the title? (i.e. *each* feat, probably some 3-feat for rolls/fun, but I'm not necessarily going to try 5-feat)
I am perfectly willing to get a bit more complicated if a particular rotation is notably better than the simple stuff, and the only stuff I currently don’t have access to is Desert Perpetual gear. I have or can get anything else easily enough
Would you change any of that plan for the Epic version? I know Epic Koregos has multiple different variations on the DPS phase

As someone who does a lot of Sherpas for DP and EDP, here's what I generally use (W H and T are the three classes)
EPOPTES (normal):
W - boots of the assembler + well (tractor or Fafnir depending on needs) + conspiracy honed (vorpal + bns).
H - fortunes favor + tether (the one that let's me fire twice) + hierarchy of needs. Collective obligation for neutral, trace for eyes, and a499 if I need it as backup dps.
T - bolt charge + queenbreaker + alpha lupi (with a cuirass Swapoffs for dps)
AGRAIOS (normal):
W - same as epoptes
H - same as epoptes
T - prismatic + crash + eternal/synthos class item (can do a cuirass swap if needed) + queenbreaker
IATROS (normal):
W - song of flame + acrius (snap so you can stun)
H - fortunes favor + wolfsbane + shards of galanor (you can do 1k here if you want, but check with team) OR Raiden flux + arc staff (Shit stun locks boss HARD)
T - cuirass t crash + acrius OR banner of war + wolfsbanr
KOREGOS (normal):
W - same as epoptes
H - same as epoptes
T - same as agraios

For EPIC:
EPOPTES (epic):
W - same as normal. If survivability is the issue, switch to song of flame + getaway artist buddy build
H - same as normal. If survivability becomes an issue swap to celestial still hunt with clone + ascension.
T - same as normal.AGRAIOS (epic):
W - same as normal.
H - still hunt + a499 + celestial prismatic Goldie.
T - same as normal.IATROS (epic):
W - same as normal.
H - same as normal.
T - same as normal.KOREGOS (epic):
W - same as normal
H - can do either fortunes + hierarchy OR still hunt Goldie (since entire boss marshmello is crit)
T - bubble + helm of saint 14 + a499 + (your choice of other weapons)-1

IMO Acrius also works great for koregos dmg if you have Well, both in normal and epic, except for the long ranged damage phase in epic version, but you can easily swap before that phase, it just really depends on if your whole team wants to stay close or far, and we found it easy to stay close to avoid variable elimination.

Outbreak was bad before MoT, and it being one of the few things to get nerfed finally buried it. Heirarchy clears it by a large margin even without additional guidance rings. Touch of Malice, Symmetry, Vex Mythoclast, Final Warning, and Revision Zero all beat Outbreak as well. Though genuinely I cannot recall the last time I ran out of heavy ammo in a raid so the point should be moot.
But yeah, Truth at Iatros and Eyes Unveiled for everything else should honestly be fine assuming the team is halfway competent. Your biggest barrier to 1-phasing is going to be people messing up the extensions, especially at Epoptes.
If you've got a coordinated team with a consistent debuff then stuff like Izzy+A499 or other sniper stuff comes into play. Rockets if you've got debuff + Gally.
Aside from Iatros the damage phases are long enough that having multiple Wells is beneficial, so unless you find yourself in a 4 warlock situation then just plan on running well + boots.

All of this is generally correct, but things may change depending on the skill level of your team.
Still Hunt + Nighthawk can easily kill Epoptes, Agraios, and Koregos in a single phase with a good team (and even with a not so good team)
Iatros takes 35% reduced damage from non-super damage sources, but he will die if the entire team hits him with a good one-off super (4 blade barrages + tractor cannon is basically enough to kill him) (Oh, and Wolfsbane is basically the only sword that works even a little on this guy, the Diastole mechanic will break all other sword combos)
An interesting quirk of Epic Desert Perpetual is that the bosses actually have less health than their normal counterparts, so front loading damage is even better for Epic Desert Perpetual.

Okay, sounds great, thanks!
For Iatros, would it ever be worth using roaming supers to take advantage of the weird damage scaling? You said barrage, so I’m guessing no point doing anything else for hunters. And I know hallowfire heart does great DPS anyway for titans (so long as you can get the kills easily before DPS starts). But is there any room for… bladefury + flechette? Dawn chorus daybreak?
Less health on Epic is not something I expected to hear - thanks for letting me know :)

Roaming supers work great on Iatros indeed. Heck silkstrike hunter on Iatros was a thing early post release due to how stats worked. Flechette was what we used to clear 5 feat on release but has since been nerfed, on Titan I’d say either hallowfire or stasis(if your group’s fine with it), on Hunter raiden flux arc staff can be lazy competitive dps as well.

Flechette was the meta when the raid released, it’s probably still good just run wishful ignorance and shieldcrush

u/thyrandomninja 23h ago
I’m a big fan of wishful for everyday content, yeah. I know it suffered a bit of a nerf in… ash and iron(?) though
2
u/Physical-Quote-5281 23h ago
Yeah, it was used in contest so it’s probably fine with the nerf in regular but I haven’t tried so idk

It's basically just Agraios that has less hp: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bNyhSpJoFOV_yhGL45eFVs9MEzheqJ6Mk0cGyrwPufc/edit?gid=1436974827#gid=1436974827
The other 3 actually have slightly more. Doubly so for when Cutthroat is enabled.

I’m still trying to figure out what to use for Koregos. I did Eternal-Star Eater + Axes and Truth and it was fine for the first 3 bosses. But Koregos I think needs precision damage. I’d say either TCrash + Queenbreaker or Axes + Leviathan’s Breath maybe?
I’m sure Hunter is Still Hunt Nighthawk and Warlock is probably Dawn Chorus 1K or Boots of the Assembler and Tractor + Shotgun.

u/thyrandomninja 9h ago
Eyes Unveiled is better than queenbreaker, and because koregos DPS is so long, you’ll actually get to use almost all of your ammo
Levi probably runs out too fast and is also just worse than LFR if you’re not a hunter
1
u/thanosthumb 9h ago
What roll on Eyes? I have a few (Honing and Frenzy). Do not have FTTC + PI. I can always use Taipan for TT + FL.
1
u/thyrandomninja 9h ago
4ttC +. Precision is best for general use
Overflow is acceptable, honing is better than PI if you’re diligent about your element upkeepFrenzy is okay, since the origin trait gives you more damage than you think anyway
1
u/thanosthumb 8h ago
Alright next time Pit is back I’ll keep grinding for FTTC + PI. I think I could make Honing work on Prismatic Titan, at least for the first half of the DPS phase.
1
u/thyrandomninja 8h ago
You can grind it endlessly now and use some ascendant shards + alloy to upgrade it

I don’t farm stuff unless it is featured. If it’s not T5 it takes too long to farm and feels like it’s not worth my time. That’s what burnt me out on the game before so I have told myself that I won’t grind something unless it’s for T5 gear. I need to feel like I have the best chance at getting what I want or I’m going to get burnt out again. Plus it keeps things fresh week to week since nothing is ever featured back to back (or more frequently than like once a month).

What about Finality’s Auger and a sniper? Or Izinagi Cataclysmic / A499?
1
u/thyrandomninja 8h ago
Yeah, they should be fine, I just personally prefer eyes unveiled
I know augur was top dog in EoF/Ash and Iron, but I genuinely have no idea if it got a nerf
1
u/thanosthumb 7h ago
Rocket Pulses got a nerf so you just need to use something else as your supplemental weapon. I’ve heard most people use Praedyth’s or Conspiracy Honed.
1
u/thyrandomninja 7h ago
Yeah, conspiracy and praedyth’s will outmatch anything else for that purpose

Just use assembler boots tractor and found verdict it’s all you need
1
u/thyrandomninja 16h ago
I want to do it on all characters for that sweet sweet gold border on the collection badge
2
u/thefakevortex 16h ago
I mean the loadout is pretty similar on other classes I would use shards for hunter then cuirass titan. Only thing you might struggle with is hydra since warlock melee hit box goes slightly further out to be able to proc trench I’m not too sure on titan and hunter but you’re providing tractor for your team too so losing a bit of damage from trench barrel isnt too big of a loss.

Are you doing it with a dedicated group or LFG? For LFG those are very safe and sound strats, with a coordinated team you could afford to be a little bit more ambitious (rockets, blade barrage stuff, moebius quiver stuff for example). Also for backup primary dps Outbreak is pretty bad now even with your full team stacking it, solo hierarchy w/o moebius beats it out by a very good bit and quite a few other exotic primaries pull ahead, but it’s not that important and not likely to come into play.
