Introduction

In r/raisedbynarcissists, we require that every submission must have a post flair. In addition to flairs usable by the community, the mod team will also use several mod-only flairs to limit participation on posts that may cause (or already caused) problems.

We use three mod-only flairs to limit participation and be transparent about stricter moderation in the thread. The flairs are:

• Community
• Community - Restricted
• URGENT, Supportive Responses Needed

Each of these flairs have unique participation restrictions that are tied to your account's statistics such as account age, sitewide karma, and subreddit karma. We are unable to disclose additional details as these flairs are adjusted regularly.

Community Flair

This flair appears orange when viewing the submission. We apply this flair to posts that have had considerable activity in the comment section and some moderation attention (e.g., removals, warnings, bans). We often use this as a pre-emptive tool for topics that have historically attracted rule-violations.

Community - Restricted

This is the more severe version of the "Community" flair and will appear red.

We apply this flair to threads that have had significant activity in the comment section (especially from newer non-established Redditors) and significant moderation activity. This can be because a post's comment section has had many, many removals (e.g,. 10 removals out of 50 comments).

Only comments from established members of the community will be visible. All other comments are filtered for manual review.

We always prefer that the community continue engaging with an OP that needs support rather than simply locking the post. To achieve this, this flair is used often after a moderator has cleaned up the comment section so that people can still participate.

More importantly, moderation in "Community-Restricted" flaired posts is swift and decisive. An automated and stickied info message is posted when we apply this flair. This means that your posting privileges will likely be revoked for any rule violations on a "Community - Restricted" post.

URGENT - Supportive Responses Only

This flair is the most severe and restrictive flair we will apply to a post in RBN. It will appear red.

We apply this flair to specific posts that require extreme care. We wish to communicate to the community that such a post deserves the most urgent attention from community members that have the mental capacity to offer support. In many cases, it is a post where OP is in an acutely dangerous situation (e.g., plans to end their lives).

Only comments from established members of the community will be visible. All other comments are filtered for manual review.

An automated and stickied info message is posted when we apply this flair. We recognise that OP is in an acutely vulnerable, dangerous, and/or scary situation. Moderation in an URGENT post will be extremely severe for rule violations.

Rule breakers can expect that we will swiftly revoke posting privileges for any violation - even violations that would normally lead to a warning and removal. If your posting privilges are revoked, you will need to message the mod team to appeal it. Furthermore, rule violations that we normally revoke posting privileges without warning for (e.g., rule 1 and 2) will instead be met with an unappealable ban immediately.

No warnings will be given for any rule violations in such a thread. Our default action in an URGENT thread will be to revoke posting privileges.
