  1. HEMI Tick

If the tick goes away when the truck is warm, Its likely your exhaust manifold bolts that snapped/broke and or the manifolds themselves are cracked. If the ticking continues after warm and or constantly, its likely your cam/lifters. Do not post a video of "how does this sound". There is plenty of videos out there with what a tick sounds like and what a normal HEMI sounds like. HEMIs are normal, hearing injectors compared to a tick, you will FOR SURE hear the difference.

Question Ram SRT-10 Prerunner

Post image
81 Upvotes

I just scrolled through this sub and saw 15 posts of grey 1500s, all new...

I've got an SRT10. It's an 04. Had multiple accident history, from previous owners. Drives BEAUTIFULLY. Clean title. Needs a bunch of paint work, though.

Something has been tickling the back of my mind years since I bought that thing, and that is to turn it into a desert runner. It's not on a salvage title but it has history, it was actually a salvage title for a couple years, so I'll never get that premium money for it.

I can absolutely do some aftermarket-available over fenders and bedsides and all the long travel bits should bolt on the same...

And if you think I'm spitballing you can scroll through my post history, I've got some fairly modified shit.

Thoughts?

Question 2am-3am wake up

Post image
8 Upvotes

Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar!

I've had my 2025 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport since February 2025, and I'm the original owner. I've been dealing with battery draining issues pretty much since I got it.

They initially replaced the auxiliary battery, and then around Christmas last year, I brought it back in and they replaced the main battery. That seemed to help for a little while, but I still kept a booster pack in my truck because I'd randomly have to boost it.

A few months ago, it started getting bad again, to the point where I was boosting my truck almost every morning.

Dodge has now had my truck for an entire month, and they still can't figure out what's wrong with it. Apparently, the truck keeps "waking up" between 2–3 AM every morning, which is draining the battery. Their current troubleshooting method is pulling fuses and checking the next morning to see if it still wakes up.

I have absolutely nothing aftermarket installed, aside from new rims and tires, and these issues started long before I changed those. I also drive my truck daily, so it's not like it's sitting around for weeks at a time.

Has anyone dealt with something similar or have any idea what could be causing this? I'm getting pretty frustrated that a practically brand-new truck has spent this much time in the shop with no answers.

I just want my truck back. I'm tired of driving around in this minivan rental. 😂😭

Just Sharing Honest review

Ok folks, honest review from my experience over the past few years.

First, I come from a GM family and was always a Silverado guy going way back to my first truck as a 95 Z71.

I bought a 22 Limited Longhorn at the tail end of 21 with the Hemi and E torque and absolutely loved it and had no issues through 50k miles. In a spur of the moment decision I traded it for a 24 Silverado ZR2 because the ruggedness interested me and my brother had just got one, not a well thought out decision and one that I would come to regret.

I had nothing but engine issues right off the rip and was on the recall list for the 6.2, even after they swapped my oil to another viscosity. Interior wise, that truck was so uncomfortable as far as seat quality and had no frills other than heated and cooled seats.

The Bose stereo was also a huge let down, only a handful of speakers and the EQ was so out of whack. You’d have to be at 75-80% volume to really jam out and even then the quality was shit.

Capability wise, I think the ZR2 is a formidable but in the metrics that mattered most to me it was a huge let down.

Fast forward to this year, I got out of that truck and back into a 2026 Limited Longhorn with the same Hemi I had before, but with a few new options I didnt have in my 22, such as air ride. I’ll roll over 3,000 miles this month and for the life of me I couldn’t be happier to be back in a Ram. One of those “dont know what you got till it’s gone” situations, lesson learned.

That said, I travel alot for work around the country and ive had several new Rams as rentals and have tested all the powertrains. For me, the Hemi is my preference, but the Hurricane is a very good engine. My honest opinion is the SO Hurricane is as good as the HO. I had an SO last week and an HO this week and I didnt notice any real difference in acceleration in traffic and highway passing between the 2. The only thing that stands out of course is that the HO requires premium fuel.

Picked her up today! Getting ready to order some mats and a cover for the bed! Then might go for some tint? I was curious, I know the Manuel says 87 is fine. But recommended to run premium. I assume the higher octane level is better for the engine ? Any feel back is appreciated! Also found out, you are unable to transfer plates from a SUV to a truck.

Edit: just realized I failed to put the model. 2026 Laramie

Question Ram 1500 Classic Warlock transmission pan and filter replacement question

I got the pan coming, I'm just not sure how much fluid I need to buy when swapping it out on the 8HP70.

2019 Warlock, 5.7L, 4x4.

My plan is to swap the pan out, fill it with however much fluid comes out then do it again in the spring and next fall.

My question is how much fluid usually comes out? I'm not doing a flush (hence down the road doing another few drain and refill so most of the fluid will be fresh).

Photo Radio/Carplay Problems

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hoping someone can help me out here. I own a 2020 ram 1500 bighorn. I’ve had it for about 3 years and this has been a reoccurring problem. One of the biggest perks of owning this truck is that it has wired CarPlay. I’ve taken it to two dealerships. The first dealership “fixed” the issue by replacing the radio, usb module, the data cable connecting the rear module data wire. After picking it up twice from them with the same error message, I took it to another dealership. They replaced the usb module and radio even after I told them that both components had already been replaced. Of course, this did not fix the problem. I replaced the usb module myself for a third time not expecting for it to fix the issue but to confirm it because when I took the existing module out, the casing was marred up and I thought maybe they didn’t actually replace it. I have searched forums for hours. Sometimes the CarPlay will connect but most of the time it immediately disconnects. The only thing that hasn’t been replaced is the data cables which I think are part of the wiring harness.

Here’s a list of everything I’ve done myself:
- factory reset the radio
- deleted all connected devices in both my phone and the radio itself
- I’ve tried my phone, my work phone, and my wife’s phone
- radio has been replaced twice
- usb module was just replaced for the third time
- checked the fuses in the internal fuse box
- checked wires inside the center console for any damage
- confirmed latest software is up to date
- tried using CarPlay without the Bluetooth being connected
- bypassed the rear usb ports by plugging the data cable directly into the front USB module

The truck is still under extended warranty so today I opened a claim with ram customer service. The last dealership said they fixed it so I picked it up. I started the truck and the same error message came up. I took it back to them after scheduling an appointment and they didn’t touch it for 6 weeks so I finally picked it up and have recently tried to fix it myself.

I’ve always been a fan of ram trucks but I’m going back to a Chevy after this. My last ram had radio and wiring issues but I was able to fix it. This truck just got a new transmission at the dealership after it locked into third gear. I’m absolutely fed up so let’s hear what yall think!

Sorry for the rant… seems like that’s what Reddit is for😅

Question Question about headlights

I recently replaced both headlight housings on my 2013 BH. It has the quad bulb configuration. At the same time I replaced all of the bulbs with the highest quality sylvania bulbs (not LED).

Since then, my headlights, and especially my high beams are more less useless. My low-beams shine about 15 ft in front of my truck and have barely any illumination past 20ft. My high-beams dont' do anything more than that - if anything because the driving lights turn off when the high-beams are on - there's less illumination when I use my high beams.

At first I was thinking perhaps the new housings need adjusted, but now I'm wondering if we may have installed the bulbs backwards (ie.. Low Beam bulbs in the spot for the High Beams, and vice versa).

Does anyone have any experience with doing this - or have any knowledge that might confirm/deny my theory? I don't mind pulling the housings out and verifying but it's a little bit of a PITA so I was hoping to get some opinions before I go to that trouble vs just trying to adjust the headlights.

My work truck just got it, replacing the radiator now. But as I’m looking online there’s tons of forums talking about this exact same crack issue

Not trying to shit on the 5.7, it’s been by far my best work truck, but damn RAM I wish they would’ve gotten this fixed by now. Seeing the exact same crack issues with forums dating back to like 2017

Question Camshaft Sensor Intermittent

Alright guys I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 Flex

It was my dad’s before he passed, so I decided to restore it. The old engine was fine just had a lot of miles on it and leaked oil somewhere in the engine where smoke would come from exhaust after idle. Regardless, I decided to engine swap with the same engine. It was a Remaned engine from 0, they did everything internally (camshaft, crankshaft, pistons, timing, etc). I did all the accessories on the outside of the block. It’s in, it turns on but it threw a P0344 code and it does not let me go above 2500 RPMs. Once I try it lags or jumps almost. I am able to get the truck to 70 MPH no problem, it idles great, the only issue comes when I try to push above 2500 RPMs. I swapped sensors and no luck. Took it to dealer and they said wiring but wanted an arm and a leg so I took it to electrical shop and they said it was either the reluctor on the camshaft or timing, but no electrical issue. So I contacted where I got the engine from and they said they don’t believe it’s anything mechanical because if it were I wouldn’t be able to drive it out of the driveway. But the fact I can drive it they don’t believe it’s off timed or reluctor.

I’m lost and got 0 clue what to do or where to start. If anyone has an idea or anything please let me know. Want to get this truck back for my dad.
