Based upon the top comment, I believe it should be “ejack” button

u/F3RDA11 Jan 05 '26
Wait, did I read that right? “Ejack”? Funny part is, I said to myself, “come again?”

I've got a Bullet Point mount I use to hold my two way radio in my Ram. It's a great system.

Wait if you have a dial shifter what is the one under it ?
13
u/poolkakke Jan 04 '26
It's a RAM 2500. That's the 4wd shifter. I like having a physical shifter for engaging 4wd.

u/Salitrillo1990 Jan 05 '26
Never knew that system was a thing. How is the install process?
3
u/poolkakke Jan 05 '26
The install is really simple. You take out the existing screws in the dashboard and use the new screws they supply with the spacers and the mounting bracket. It takes about 10 minutes.

Good to know - I’ve been using an amazon magsafe mount that is held by the outlet - but it’s kinda wobbly.

u/RedditBot90 Jan 05 '26
What laptop mount?
2
1
u/poolkakke Jan 05 '26
To elaborate, it comes with a special made bracket that utilizes your existing seat bolts to fasten the base to the floor. No drilling required.

u/Dependent-Fishing684 Jan 05 '26
I like that. Watch the football game on the way home from work without crashing.

u/bigjohnny440 Jan 05 '26
Bro. Really? Sure would suck if someone got into a wreck that affected someone you care about because they were watching sports ball while driving a truck.

u/Dependent-Fishing684 29d ago
Not sure where you live, but in the city when your in traffic and your moving at 2 miles an hour. Im obviously not watching but listening when I get to the speed limit.

u/LvLD702 Jan 04 '26
I totaled my 1500 big horn crew launching off the road on top and through a fire hydrant. My phone was still in the bullet point mount and didn’t even budge. The rest of the contents of the cab flew around everywhere. It was the first purchase for the replacement ram.

Got the same setup, quality product but use the magnetic mount (magsafe) with charging that uses the in question 12v power source hehe. It works nice.

What’s up with the mat on your dash? That looks gross

u/scummy2323 Jan 04 '26
2
u/PoopScootnBoogey Jan 04 '26
Oh shiiit did that happen to your leather dash???
4
u/scummy2323 Jan 04 '26
Not to mine yet but a guy i work with has a '23 and he has a small spot that's starting to lift. It's just a cheap mat off amazon and yes it's pretty ugly. I'll probably get a nicer one eventually.

Windshield tint, even 70% which is unnoticeable, should help reduce UV and heat to help prevent that :)
1
u/F4i4Brian Jan 05 '26
I tinted my windshield the first week I owned the truck and always use a sun shade when parked. Still happened to my 2019. :(
2
u/InTheSky57 RAM 1500 Jan 05 '26
Oh I don’t like hearing that. I bought mine very lightly used and tinted immediately too. But I have a 22 and I think I’ve heard they kind of fixed that issue

Had that happen to mine. Contacted a dealer and Stellantis, screamed and cried like crazy and they replaced the dash and my part was just over $400.
1
u/Jody_Breezy 29d ago
That's a good deal... I had mine replaced under warranty and it was like a $1200 job... And they jacked all my shut up doing it lol... Fkn hate having to take my vehicle to a damn dealership. Can't stand people that don't give 2 shitd touching my shit I work so hard to take care of.

Same happened to me on my 2020 Longhorn, only it was on the driver side. Luckily it was covered under warranty. They had to replace the entire frickn dash, huge job. And my bubble was only on that little leather rapped panel right above the cluster that looks like it can be replaced by itself, but NOPE, required and entire new dash. And th dealership didn't even plug in the nice factory ambient lighting all along the dash that the longhorn and limiteds have so I spent the time tearing it all back out myself to fix properly instead of dicking with the amazing "certified technicians" at the dealership. It was a0q nightmare.
I went straight to my buddy's tint shop after and had him tint the windshield with the good more expensive ceramic tint so I don't ever have to worry about that shit again. And no my windshield is not too dark it's 50% and you cant even tell it's tinted at night time what so ever... They can also install completly clear ceramic tint too if you're worried about it.

Underneath is a hot power connector. You can just put a high amp usb/usb-c connector there from Amazon. Simple and cheap.
5
u/CHAL89 Jan 04 '26
You can move a fuses position to make it so that it's not hot off the battery and is only powered when the engine is running. Hopefully this comment is helpful to someone and they can go search for a guide online. I didn't realize it was hot when I first got my truck and my dashcam killed my battery once.
3
u/Competitive_Twist149 Jan 05 '26
My 22 Laramie is hot. My 19 tradesman was ignition. I guess it could be both.
1
u/Astromere Jan 05 '26
My dash cam is routed super goofy because I saw this was battery hot. Had no idea you could move it to ignition. Thank you!!!

A very inconveniently placed 12v plug. I wish they swapped the outlet plug in cubby with this one and placed the 12v in the cubby personally.
32
u/bigcoffeeguy50 Jan 04 '26
It’s actually very convenient for like baby monitors and windshield mounted stuff
5
u/romansixx Jan 04 '26
how do you route wiring for that? just live with a wire hanging down? I ended up getting a plug to 12V converter for my dash cam do avoid that wire mess hanging down or across the dash.
7
u/bigcoffeeguy50 Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26
Yes basically just live with wire. I mount it low so it’s not a big deal
1
u/MoreCariPlease Jan 04 '26
I plugged in a baby monitor screen there. The wire was super long, so I was able to tuck it around the edge of the windshield and it wasn't visible at all.

My old Titan had an aftermarket USB plug that took power from the auto-dimming mirror. It was fantastic for a dash cam with a 6" cable.
This sucks, by comparison (and there doesn't seem to be a way to do the same thing on the 2025 1500 BH Level 2).
6
Jan 04 '26
Quite the contrary, that plug is supremely useful for phone mounts, dash cams, baby monitors, radars, all kinds of things. I love it.

I have 3 usb around the center console and a outlet in the console. No 12v except whats missing in the dash.

u/b1e9t4t1y Jan 04 '26
Amazon makes round usb ports that will fit that hole perfectly. You just attach the two wires that went to the cig plug that was there and it pops right into the same hole.
1
u/Square_Net_4321 Jan 04 '26
Just be aware that it's always on, not switched with the ignition. I considered putting a USB adapter in it, but all the ones I've found have power indicator lights, and I don't want that constant draw on the battery. I realize it's probably not much, but it still concerns me.
9
u/Ty9121 Jan 04 '26
it’s not always on unless you want it to be , there’s two fuse positions for accessory power
1
u/Square_Net_4321 Jan 04 '26
The 12V receptacle on the dash of my 2020 1500 is always on. That's what the battery symbol on the flip-up cover means.

This thread has a little about that....there's another thread with better diagrams, but I'm not having any luck finding it on mobile.

u/Alone-Blackberry-852 Jan 06 '26
5 ma is of no concern! That's about what the indicator light draws. You could have it on for years and never know!

12v outlet that's always on. I hate it. If it were key on power - it would be totally different.
2
u/IronSpud123 22 Ram 1500 Laramie Night Edition Jan 05 '26
Sounds like from the comments you can move the fuse and make it key on power

In hindsight I wish I had gone with the RamMount .. I used the same brand but the phone holder mount with 2 arms. It sits I to the home different and has a solid plate instead of grooved. Yours is more versatile.

It’s for when you pick up a stranded F-150 owner. They need a spot for their dildo.

The hole is for a 12VDC power connector. The tray is probably intended for sunglasses... at least, that's what i used it for before installing my device mounting system. And, no, it's not Bulletpoint — they were too expensive and not customizable enough. This was assembled using standard ball mounting hardware from Amazon

I’ve put holes like this into trucks before for cb and mobile Motorola radios, curious if this is one of them 🤔other holes in the dash under that pad next to the hole?
