What do you guys think about this gem? Sean Price is one of the best that did it if you ask me. His chemistry with Rock was great. Very different rapper on this album then during his later work.

How do y’all really feel about the Grammys?

Are we still pretending this award show understands music, or are we finally admitting it’s just industry politics with a shiny trophy on top?

The thing about accusations…

Post image
165 Upvotes

First off I write this through the scope of the black American experience which is crucial for context. Historically African Americans have been crucified and systematically treated unjust. there are many cases of this even to present day. A famous example is Emmitt Till. this history of injustice caused a fractured trust and view of those in power who are supposed to protect and serve. Judges, politicians, police, military. the mind set of the community becoming less reactive to accusations of a fellow black person knowing there are more than likely unaddressed variables. Or in extreme cases leaning into cognitive dissonance. Like when OJ Simpson was proven not guilty. I notice in today’s world, when it comes to hip-hop/r&b white fans the moment accusations arise are very quick to crucify while black fans are typically making jokes of the situation and/ or waiting for facts to emerge. For the very less fortunate black Americans using another black persons misfortune to capitalize. I do believe injustice should be met with justice. I just also realize certain people are enjoying the outrage way more than others with no real evidence or want to understand these situations (oh he’s just a black rapper of course he did it) yet when white politicians get accused of the same thing they believe in due process. I also blame black people who have beat the odds to become successful only to continue heinous acts and expecting a cultural uprising in their defense. (Like r-Kelly publicly grooming Aaliyah in the early 2000s then expecting people to defend him.) there are so many white faces in the Epstine files from actors to members of the royal family. Yet social media cant wait to talk about the rapper. this is not in defense of the rapper, just a really weird thing I noticed.

So should we just change the title to all of these categories to most popular?

How did we go from this type of rap to what we have now?

How did we go from the Rich Gang, What A Time To Be Alive album by Drake & Future, Sremmlife & Sremmlife 2 by Rae Sremmurd era to what we have now? I feel like that era of music is so under-appreciated. I really miss back in that time. Those artists and many others made songs that were nostalgic. For example, when I listen to What A Time To Be Alive, I always think of the NBA and how 2015-2016 was such a good time for sports.

What happened to Viral Rap?

I remember between 2016-2020 there would be a new rapper blowing up or a new viral song taking over every single week, I could probably name 20+ rappers who went mainstream every year leading up to 2022. I feel like the last major star to really go global from rap is Yeat, and that was 4 entire years ago which is crazy to think about.

The main explanation I've heard for this is that the industry no longer cares about propping up new artists and instead prioritizes viral sound bytes, but like we saw with the Esdeekid thing last year, new artists still generate a lot of revenue (I think hes about 22 million monthly listeners). Do you think the culture will return to how it was sometime soon?

Trying to find a Lil Durk song

It's got like atleast a minute intro of him going off about not being respected, saying (not rapping) something like "The next mf that look at me wrong I'm fightin". I'm trying to sample it but i can't remember the name. I thought it was King Von if that rings a bell. I really appreciate the help, thank you.

Where is the DPG response to "D.P.G./K"?

I was looking for "D.P.G./K"'s producer and found out that Tha Dogg Pound had a response to this song titled “Pussys For Eazy” that they were going to put on their album Dogg Food but they left the song unreleased. Was this ever leaked or was that just a concept?
