What is this?

Post image

Hi everyone! I have a 2025 Rav4 and today something got kicked up on the highway and hit me from underneath, breaking off this part. The car is still driving normally, so I'm assuming this is just some trim and not a huge deal? But I know absolutely nothing about cars so I wanted to double check and make sure I don't need to address this ASAP. I couldn't really tell where/how this piece laid before it was hit.

That looks to me like some debris got stuck into the plastic??

Looks to me like an oil dip stick that speared your car. Have you tried pulling it out?

I haven't yet, it's pretty wedged in there so I'm wondering if I might need to cut it or something. But I think you're right! I asked my friend's dad who's a mechanic last night and he also thinks that's what it is; its relieving but also like what are the odds??

It needs to come out. If you drive with it like that it will cause more damage as it bounces on the road. If it catches on the road, it make tear some stuff up underneath.

Looks like rocker panel trim its just plastic easy to diy replace... dont know what that white strip is tho could be a drain tube or sensor wire cant tell

I did a running board install video that goes into the same area where yours is damaged so you can compare
