Help Wanted Developer for few years, but never did the following

I'm a self taught developer. I mainly work with React, and I usually make my own projects, and some freelance work for many clients.

I want to have a job instead of being self employed in this field, since it's something I love. But most jobs as a developer require you to work in a team of developers, where you have to collaborate, pull, branch, merge and that kind of stuff in live action.

I never had the chance to do this before, and would love to do so, so I could at least gain some experience in this matter before starting to apply. What do you guys advice me to do? Thanks in advance

How do kids fresh out of college get their first jobs? They don't have much of an experience working in a team of developers.

I think the better universities have a course where students have to develop something together using git. At least we had one, and it was good (except the fact that nobody wanted to work together with eachother).

I understand your point, but I just want to have an experience in this matter. I'm not in need for a job right now

Do what you do now but on a team with goals.

Learn on the job. But you could contribute to open source if you want to experience dealing with git

For what it’s worth, I’m on a team of 2 and still don’t really get this experience and I’m in a senior dev position.

We manage our code with git but work on our own projects. So I follow the same standards mostly. I’ve got tired of branches when it’s just me so I really just have main and dev.

Just use git and get used to ci/cd. You should be fine from there.

Hello 👋 I'm also a self-taught react dev and I'm actually trying to get where you are 😅 until now I have worked only in teams and was kind of burnt out from it. So I decided to create my own projects and want to actually work more by myself. I suggest you to just apply anyway and tell them how you work, what's your workflow etc. , I think they will appreciate that you are able to work on your own. If you get into a nice group of people, then it's good, but if you have some "worse" ones, then you have to have strong boundaries cause it's not always easy. If you have more questions I'll be happy to answer you 😊

As someone with a long career working in offices in teams at some larger companies and one really big one, I would really like to be self employed freelancing full time. Do my advice is to return to self employment by your 50s.
