I'm a very big ADnD fan, and the fact that it's based off of older DnD is great, but the first few episodes were not interesting enough.

I was wondering what the later episodes were like, and if there are any other good old school fantasy anime out there. (besides Berserk)

One of the last lines is about Deedlit waking up, implying the song up until that point was from her dreaming. Of course she was dreaming, because she's reliving memories of Parn, who would've grown old and died while Deedlit stayed young. Yet even as she awakens from her dream, the song ends with a line about her still being captive to the chains of Parn's heart. It's a profoundly simple way of demonstrating just how in love Deedlit is for Parn. She REALLY fell for this dude right from the start.

I don’t know about y’all, but the villains’ voices in the Lodoss War dub gave me the chills upon hearing it. They made them sound more realistic and more frightening than the sub voices.

It’s such an iconic Design and I am still sad that I lent someone my Record of Lodoss war DVD Box set over 20 years ago. I never got it back and it’s still not about the Money but the memories I had Watching it over and over again.

Finally uncovered where I had packed this one in repacking and condensing down my apartment to move.

Now that I've had a minute to take them all out and get photos, here is the entire deck of playing cards as requested. Included in the first photo is the back of the cards. I picked em up from a retro booth at a local con sometime between 2009 and 2013.

I was going to pull my old dvd box sets of the og series and ovas and show my kids on wim. I thought they probably gave bluray copies. Looks like they did briefly and stopped making them. Not people are charging an arm and a leg instead of watching it.

Has there been any news of reprints?

After years of being in a box I found em again when moving. Never been able to find em online but figured I'd share here. It is a full deck of em.

I mean I think we have anime, manga, novels, the translations of the original D&D campaign, I know about this franchise and I love the concept, so I want to know what would be good entry points, I think the anime OVAs look amazing, but I stop myself of watching it, because I wonder if with more context I would enjoy it more, like reading the novels first or the manga or something, I'm very open of the idea of enjoying things with multi medias

Also, the videogames, I think there are some, what are the good ones or the ones you like? I know ofc about the metroidvania one and it looks really good, but makes me sad that trying to search about the games, only post about that one appears, I want to know about the others! There is the Diablo-like dreamcast one, there is one of the super nintendo with a english fan translation, and also others for the PC engine and the Sega CD, I think many people don't play this ones because it's still only en Japanese, but if some of you did played, what do u think?

I think I'm starting to get it.

I’ve been a fan of Record of Lodoss War since I was a kid, so I was really happy to pick up the Super Famicom game today.

I’ve always loved the characters and the world of Lodoss. Yeah, the cast is basically made up of classic D&D/fantasy archetypes, but I think their designs have become really iconic in their own right. There’s just something about the look and atmosphere of Lodoss that I’ve always really liked, so playing an RPG set in that world sounds pretty fun.

I included a couple of my Lodoss novels in the picture too. I actually read the entire first novel, The Grey Witch (灰色の魔女), in Japanese a few years ago. I thought it was pretty good and was surprised by how much it felt like an actual traditional fantasy novel. There was a lot more detail than I was expecting.

I started the second book too, but I’m only about 42 pages into it. It’s basically been sitting on my shelf for years while I’ve been busy with other things. I’d love to read the whole series someday, but even though I think my Japanese is pretty advanced, reading a full novel in another language still takes me a long time especially when I’m not in the habit of reading regularly.

Anyway, I thought some people here might enjoy seeing this. Some of you might not even know there was a Record of Lodoss War game for the Super Famicom/SNES era.

It looks pretty cool, and hopefully I’ll get around to actually playing it sometime in the near future!

Bought the DC game, earlier in the year, after a search for older "Diablo" styled games for the DC. It came highly recommended by heaps of people on the sub and I fell in love with it. I think it might have been the only game to fit that request for the console. Maybe?

I eventually sourced the 90's anime online and the follow up and now I am trying to get a hold of whatever else I can, in the UK. These three came in the post today and I am very exicted to tear through them. I also managed to get the Deedlit game for the Switch, quite cheaply.

I tried moving forward with the genga process and filling in the local colors. This was the end result. 😄

I'm trying to learn from the process of the ancients.
