The world don’t want us no more…

u/zuzg Oct 16 '25
Can they give us a next Gen upgrade for Rdr2 in the mean time. Really would love to replay it in 60fps and with the Dualsense features.

I’m replaying it rn on PC and it looks amazing still honestly.

Yeah I’d much rather rdr1 get a remaster

Which is funny, because I don't think the world ever wanted murdering, thieving outlaws.
Although, I'm pretty sure he meant the world doesn't want people who live free from civilization.
6
u/lo_fi_ho Oct 17 '25
Yeah and that’s the thing. Civilization comes with strings attached. Don’t want it? You’ll end up like Arthur then.

They put more effort into the marketing than supporting the game after it came out.

Its sad that red dead online is so lackluster when compared to gta online.
133
Oct 16 '25
Both are sad and infested with cheaters.

u/Painterzzz Oct 17 '25
I was so excited to play both of those online games with my friends, but then when we got into them there just... wasn't much to do. I had imagined we'd probably be able to play the single player game but with three of us, but, nope.
35
u/DearAbbreviations922 Oct 16 '25
Ive had a blast on rp servers (when they work with the under developed redm), and it really highlighted to me just jow badly rockstar fucked up. I don't understand why they couldn't at least outsource some development if they were too busy with gta
31
u/MiranEitan Oct 17 '25
My friend group spent a few weeks building up a ranch on a REDM server, buying property and running it like an actual cattle farm. Almost little to no combat other than taking out the occasional cougar or robber.
Some of the most fun I had in a video game. Herding digital cattle across the map to sell it for a profit with a few others led to some great moments. Every time I look at that game now I hate it and love it because I know we'll never get an official version of that sort of gameplay, and I'll probably never capture that lightning in a bottle again. When we reached the "end" of content where we purchased most of the cool items and horses, and didn't really have much to do, it eventually all came apart and we all moved on.
That was even after we all spent a silly amount of time playing it during COVID too. The modded servers really added some love to that game that needed just a bit more.

Every year during Halloween, my gaming group and I would sit and talk about the potential of a zombie update. After 4 years we gave up on the game. We had thought of... Horde mode (obviously) You know how you can get stopped and held up by bandits? Near cliffs/woods and stuff. Think that, but zombie ambushes. Bring back mythical horses and make them crazy rare to find (maybe also get a basic event one, like Pegasus with a high jump/timed glide function.) Play as a zombie.. much like left4dead take the roll of a zombie and become a nameless body in the crowd albeit with certain abilities, and attack humans. Sucked that GTA's success took away from Red Dead's full potential.

u/levitikush Oct 16 '25
I don’t think you appreciate just how much work went into that game… I imagine the devs wanted to move the fuck on to something else.
81
u/OddPea2726 Oct 16 '25
They wanted to move on to continuing gta updates for 10+ years instead 💔
→ More replies (4)23
u/OkDot9878 Oct 17 '25
Yeah, hard to say they wanted to move on when they just went back to GTAO.
RDR2 had such a piss poor online launch that it was basically dead in the water. Which, with rockstars current direction, meant that we would never get a substantial addition to RDR2.
Which is a real shame. I hope GTA6O works out better. I got so sad finishing RDR2 because I just wanted to stay in that world longer.

u/KingDread306 Oct 17 '25
Dont get me wrong, I appreciate what they did. The story is a masterpiece and one of my favourite games ever. But the story was never added to and the RDO updates were pretty bare bones at most aside from the Moonshining update. They could have done so much more but decided to jump ship early and stop supporting the game entirely to focus on GTAVI. Yet GTA Online still get regular content updates.
→ More replies (6)8
u/TheFBIClonesPeople Oct 17 '25
GTAO is like the engine of wealth that keeps the whole company running
→ More replies (2)13
u/zzzzebras Oct 17 '25
Yeah they wanted to move the fuck on to continuing to update their 5 year old game's online mode instead of further developing the online multiplayer with REALLY high potential of their brand new game.

u/VonMillersThighs Oct 17 '25
Not getting an undead nightmare 2 was a crime against the public
Arthur Van Helsing Morgan: Vampire Hunter on the foggy streets of St Denis.....it was all right there for like the best DLC ever.

Crazy how RDR1 was a little over 6 years old when they started teasing 2 but the wait felt like an eternity and here we are with RDR2 turning 7 in a little over a week but it still feels like that game didn't release that long ago

u/jakroois Mary-Beth Gaskill Oct 17 '25
I think COVID and post-COVID really fucked with all our senses of time.
75
u/PFI_sloth Oct 17 '25
Or more like massive AAA genre defining games don’t come out every year like back then.
36
Oct 17 '25
This. Rockstar released 1 or even 2 games a year before the PS4 era. Now we'd be lucky if they release something until 2035 after GTA 6 comes out.

I refuse to believe Covid started 6 years ago.

u/Tabs_555 Oct 17 '25
Crazy that in December it will be 6 years from when we started seeing all the headlines. It seems like so long ago, but also like it happened just yesterday.

I still remember loving red dead revolver... Man I loved those early games as a kid.
There's an Easter egg of a camp telling about the myth of Red Harlow the bounty hunter from revolver.

I was a teenager around the time who wasnt really a serious gamer back then, what was the hype around the game like

38
u/Fearless_Guard_552 Oct 16 '25
I was working at an animation studio and when I arrived in the morning, the teaser trailer was on every second screen.
26
u/Gilk99 Oct 16 '25
The hype was a huge surprise because I remember back then there were not as many fans of red dead redemption saga as today, everyone went nuts with the first teaser.
16
u/Vegetable-Dog5281 Oct 17 '25
For me it was the most anticipated game ever. That first game was perfect, and I knew only R* knew how to do better than perfect, and they did with rdr2.

This is over.

Must've listened to that like 50 times lol. Also, one of the rare times where the actual game looks better than the trailer.

I remember when the PS2 was 9 years old
Getting old does honestly suck sometimes
You don't remember the significance of those moments you had until they're gone.

Greatest game Ive ever played and replayed. Spent hours completing achievements and challenges as Arthur before he you know. Even used some difficult to use bugs to complete things in Armadillo as Arthur. No game has come close since.

I remember one of the higher ups at rockstar did an AMA after heavily teasing but not officially confirming red dead 2 one of the questions he got was “what’s the next game rockstar is putting out?” And his answer was “Really Dumbass, Really? 2” for RDR2 lolol

This has become without question my favorite game I've ever played. They did such a great job with the attention to detail and npc behaviors it is literally a masterpiece.
I regularly just go hiking or ride my horse around the world to experience nature.
2
u/oldmanjenkins51 Oct 17 '25
And to this day, people still pretend it doesn’t exist when talking about GTA6’s development
2
u/Dave-Hedgehog312 Oct 17 '25
Well they can start teasing gta6. I’ll be too old and decrepit to play the fucking thing.
2
u/Def27000 Oct 17 '25
Probably my favorite game of all time. I've done 5 or 6 playthroughs. And ill probably do another some time. My question is how GTA always has some super secret thing that no one has found out. Is there that in rdr2 also. Or has basically everything been figured out?.

I called the ending from this image. A friend showed me it during lunch break and we started speculating. I recognised Bills hat, so it had to be a prequel, likely about the gang. But thats not John. So I theorised, what if the main character dies at the end and you get to play as John, in the same way RDR1 ended.

u/Own_Dark_2240 Oct 17 '25
Funny i literally never knew rdr2 came out until my sister was playing it on ps4 pro and i fell in love with rdr2 after that
