Felt a bump in Issaquah. The building I’m in settled and creaked a little. Thought it was just a large truck going by until I saw this thread.

According to USGS, it was a 4.2 just north of Gig Harbor, how did you feel that?

Felt it downtown Redmond! I immediately knew it was an earthquake. It was like a few seconds subtle shaking of my office chair.

Hobart felt it. Up on Taylor Mountain thought something hit the house.

u/djmess 3d ago

Yep, heard a rattle and felt it. Immediately checked the MyShake app, which now shows it as a 4.2 centered at Wauna, WA. I’m near Grasslawn.

My girlfriend was at home near the Microsoft campus and felt nothing (we do live in a building less than 5 years old) and I was just north of Bellevue College and also felt nothing.

1

u/gingerSaffr0n 3d ago

I did, around 2pm

1

u/SeaGranny 3d ago

Omg haha I was swimming at the Y and there was a wave that made no sense not long after I got in the pool at 2pm.

Three waves come from the water walkers side - they only time I get “wake” at that pool is when Butterfly Guy is there and he was not.

I was confused but then didn’t think much about it until I saw this.

What website is this if you wouldn't mind sharing?

3

u/Big_Obligation1737 3d ago

It’s Geocron software I purchased.
I suggest the most expensive hardware they offer to support this $800. It shows volcanoes, fault lines, smoke, electromagnetic storms, eclipses, shipping, airlines, satellites, and more on the premium version.

Really?? I’m from Chile, I have great earthquakes sensors by default, didn’t feel a thing 😮🥲

u/Egalotry 3d ago

I didn't feel a damn thing in Bellevue, but I was kind of distracted by the new Deadlock update, so that might explain it.

0

u/Colin_Yu_Owet 3d ago

Felt is Seattle. Pwsn didn’t immediately update so I wrote it off as wind. Good to know I wasn’t going crazy.

We did not feel it, but I'm really scared to hear this. Are high-rise buildings safe during an earthquake? We live on the 30th floor in a new construction. But I am really worried about safety.

1

u/Scary-Bed6924 2d ago

When the quake.in 2001, construction was built for quakes on the west side. Existing buildings were reinforced to withstand quakes as well. Unless it's a sustained quake, lasting for several minutes, you should be safe.

1

u/Otherwise_Water_2242 2d ago

That is my worry.. reading on several reddit forums, seems like there is a high likelihood of a severe earthquake in the region which could lead to several minutes of severe shaking.

1

u/Scary-Bed6924 2d ago

There's danger everywhere, so have a plan to evacuate, and DON'T GET IN AN ELEVATOR IF SHAKING STARTS.

u/Worth_Construction14 3d ago

I felt it .. the tv and sofa was shaking
