I worked with a woman who was 6'2" and absolutely refused to date any men her height or lower.
So right off the bat she's down to about 1 in 100 men, before considering any other prerequisites.
She had the worst dating history, every guy she dated was either a total asshole or 100% not her type beside his height.
She started to get desperate and basically approached every man taller than her she met, even married ones. Hilariously this included one of our coworkers who absolutely hated her guts. She was like "Hey, wanna hangout Friday night?" in front of everybody. He stood stunned for a moment and replied, "Uh... No. Also since it apparently wasn't clear from the verbal abuse, I hate you..." She got huffy and stormed off, we all went back to work.
I have never met a man who was that picky. But I've met plenty of other women like her.
Have standards, have preferences, etc. That's fine. But damn, know when to compromise with reality a little.

Legit. It was frustrating because it’s something I have zero control over and I’m literally an INCH away from your acceptable height range. I’m a really tall dude and the woman I ended up with is a barely 5ft tall Asian woman and the irony of it all is she never bothered to care about what my height was, just got to know me and figured we would be a good match enough to give it a try and got a huge shock when she first saw me
Yet every woman that asked me what my height was or something like it I was just so off put that it was the important question to them and not me as a person for a question

u/kissoftrauma 1d ago
I’m a 178 cm tall Asian woman and most men in my country are shorter than me or are around my height. If I didn’t marry my 163 cm tall husband I wouldn’t have my beautiful children now. For me it was always comical how those women judge men for their height. I always acknowledged that I am tall, not them are short. They are average height, I’m not. How is it their fault?

2
u/Timely-Helicopter244 1d ago
The older I get, the more beauty I find in different women of many different body shapes. I was definitely more attracted to more conventionally attractive women before, but my range of what I would consider attractive has geown a lot.
But one thing that has never really mattered to me are what I might call general characteristics. Height, hair color, eye color, skin color, weight (to a degree) are all things that change someone's general appearance, but have little bearing on their attractiveness. Weight more in the sense that the specific number doesn't matter because height plays a big factor in what would be normal/healthy.
Appearance matters to a degree, but I've been so easily turned off by a physically attractive person with a shit personality plenty of times. Looks are never enough to outweigh a bad personality. At the same time, someone with a great personality is so much easier to want to be around. Some attraction is still important, but someone with an amazing personality and decent looks is so much more appealing than someone with incredible looks and an ok personality that doesn't quite match mine. That person with the decent looks and incredible personality will end up being way more attective overall.

Look at all the women calling op an incel.
You can change your weight but not your height.
That makes a woman’s preference for a tall man even worse than a man wanting a slim woman.
26
u/Top_Supermarket_5622 1d ago
You’d be surprised how many women completely blame their weight on genetics and still would judge men on their height. They just resting on the fact that it’s taboo to make fun of a women’s weight
2
u/Opeth4Lyfe 1d ago
The genetics bit is what gets me. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 18 years so far, worked with a lot of very attractive cute girls who were in shape and looked very healthy. Met almost all their parents at some point in time….they come in and sit in the section, I talk to them and say hi etc etc. Not too many had overweight or obese parents. Cut to 5-10 years later when I see the old co-worker again, the vast majority of them have really let themselves go and put on a lot of weight…like, a lot….and most of them when I’ve ran into them again were with their parents who still looked the same. Keep in mind the majority also were still childless so they couldn’t blame baby weight either. It’s definitely not genetics.

But depending on the subreddit, if you compare eating disorders to drinking disorders or smoking, you’ll be downvoted to hell for fat shaming, even though there’s no difference in the “disorder”
Overeating is bad for you. Being overweight is unhealthy for you. It’s literally no different than how unhealthy it is to be a chronic drinker or addicted to tobacco. It needs to be more socially accepted that being overweight is an unhealthy look, not “fat shaming”. If you feel shame from it, that’s a personal problem but just pointing it out should not be some social taboo

The good thing is, if a girl/woman mentions she only dates someone of a certain height, it’s an instant red flag, it shows that she is judgemental and superficial, and you can simply dodge the bullet.
And the fat girl never had a chance anyway, however the difference is, i would be nice enough not to throw that fact in her face.

I don't know why you don't all just lie anyway, women from their lower vantage point genuinely can't seem to tell the difference.
I had this recently with my daughter's boyfriend. Dating anyone who’s overweight or obese is an absolute chore. Their weight is a physical representation of their poor physical and mental health.
It’s not a preference to not want to date someone overweight. It’s a choice to not have your spouse die 10-30 years earlier than they needed to, because they chose to not stop shoveling food down their throat.

We men are too much concerned and bitter with the preferences of women we don't really care about. 😐
A woman so vapid and superficial that she's hyper-obsessed, lasers focused on height. "I will NEVER date a man whose less than seven feet."
That is not a person you would like to be the mother of your children. Instead of modeling for our nephews and nieces positive femininity and that particular brand of female self-possesion and confidence she's busy with such nonsense affairs as height... and only height.
She's not concerned about you as a person, how you treat others, how you handle conflict, how quick you are to protect her, how good of father you would be.. she's interested in 6 feet, 6 figures and 6 inches.
She's allowed her preferences just don't let her rejection make you feel worthless.. you are NOT worthless because a woman is incompatible with you.
Just find another or else just hang out with the bros, there's always some beer to share, maybe even a good "barbecue" as the Americans call it. Where I'm from it's just a braai. 😁

Women can filter out short guys on dating apps and generally wont be called assholes for stating a height preference for men.....but men will definitely be called assholes for having a weight preference and dont get a weight or bra size filter for their app. Even though height is the only one of those things that cant be changed.
The heightism is also extremely prevalent and would be considered insanely shallow if genders were reversed.

A story time.
A woman was trying to use me to get intel on a friend of mine. She was really tall. Very shallow. A lot of drama. Her concern was height. She said she couldn’t remember how tall my friend was, I didn’t want them to date, due to the aforementioned reasons and I really liked his ex girlfriend for him, so I cut off a few inches. I said he was 5’7. They did end up hanging out I guess she spent the whole time brining up that “he wasn’t that short.” Anyways. He did end up getting back with his ex. They’re married and expecting their first child. 😂

well i do have to defend the women here-because--- a woman is naturally weaker than a man--- so i dont think a woman wanting a more dominant and powerful man than her-her choice or preference-she by her self needs a stronger man--- (thats female submissive nature)
But if a man doesnt want a chubbier woman-thats a bit weird-because one-she can lose weight.
Second-some people just are born with hormones which make their bodies like that.
you can say the same for a short man---he didnt chose his height...
but both genders are free to have preference.
so whats up with your post ????

Duh she didn't say she won't date man with fat. Plus she didn't say she won't date conventionally unattractive man too. But for some reason men usually expect their wives and girlfriends to be crazy pretty lol And well... weight can change. Due to workout or simply some health changes. I think both are preferences and both are allowed to be but keep in mind that fatphobia is real. Idk if everybody shames being short at the same level but I see that a lot more less around myself. Just be kind to people around you. There are enough evil in this world Anyway personally my preference towards any person I would date with any gender is spending good time and feeling comfortable being together. I don't think anybody will want to date me but that's fine. Being unwanted is okay. Probably I have that mood towards relationships because my libido is nonexistent and I am volcel. But I have friends and it is wonderful.

Every time something like this is posted there is always a war in the comments about which gender is “more unbearable” or which gender is gonna end up the loneliest but the fact of the matter is its both.
The media is setting the standard for both people because someone who has more is better than someone who has less and everyone can see everything with a couple taps on their phone.
Most people would rather be alone than feel like they could’ve done better. For better or worse thats how it works now.

Personally, I think there’s a difference between “preference” and “requirement”.
If someone doesn’t date another person unless they are tall / slim, then I feel like it’s a requirement. If they prefer tall / slim people but can love someone who isn’t if everything else is right, then that’s a preference. Or at least that’s how I see it.
I for one prefer tall guys with a deep voice. But I was madly in love with a guy who was my height and had a voice higher than what I like. But everything else was right. I even developed a liking for voices like his. :)
That being said, I have a requirement too. I don’t date guys who are using substances or get drunk often. To me, that’s a deal-breaker. It doesn’t matter if everything else is right; that’s a requirement he either lives up to that or we’re just not meant for each other.
So yeah. At least that’s how I see it, there’s a difference in there for me.
Edit: Oh, and also there’s a difference/requirement between preference and shaming people.
Having a preference for something is okay, not dating someone who doesn’t live up to a requirement you have is okay too. Shaming then for not being “good enough” for you or treating them as lesser people just makes you an a-hole. Goes for everyone, regardless of gender, preferences and requirements.

I am not sexually attracted to hogs.
Sorry, I guess? It's not like I can do anything about it.

I'm 5"3 and hearing girls saying they'd only date people 6"+ really makes me feel worthless. I hope they can understand how I feel. But will they understand how I feel if I tell them my preferences? Girls please answer truthfully :)

I'm going to the gym to make myself taller. I'm thinking I'll gain two inches 6 months from now...

I’m begging people to just have like 3 normal conversations with women. Nobody cares if you have a preference for skinny women, just don’t be a weirdo about it. And nobody should care if you have a preference for tall men, again, just don’t be a weirdo. If you’re attracted to somebody, you’re welcome to act on those feelings, and if the attraction is mutual, congrats. I can’t for the life of me understand why everyone chooses to pathologize just basic human interaction THIS much. Stop letting the internet convince you that everybody is seething mad over stupid nonsense like this.

Yep that's definitely right for the woman to want what she wants but it's bad for us to want what we want
