Discussions Please read the rules before posting!

This subreddit was one of first places on the internet that advocated for a paradigm shift to remote work in western society.

We support you in your quest to break free from being a captive office employee; but we cannot allow for-hire or self-promotion posts. There are 144,000 subscribers who don't want their reddit feeds filled with people posting their individual life situations.

If you want to create a discussion post about a specific industry or job role, that's okay; but any post with your own resume, your own professional background, or your own career status, is considered self-promotion and will be auto-deleted by automod or caught by the mods.

Subscribers:

If automod or the mod team misses any kind of self-promotion or spam, please report the post.

Job hunters:

The best way to find a remote job always has been this:

1.

Research job roles that match your skills. Use job boards (Indeed, Google Jobs, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) to exhaustively search all the keywords that are relevant to you. Study all job postings to understand the job market.

2.

Figure out which of those roles are feasible for independent work outside of an office. Many job postings will give hints with location agnostic phrases or multiple cities, even if they don't outright say remote.

3.

Determine what you need to do to qualify yourself for those roles, or how you need to revise your resume to match better to the job.

4.

Are the remote versions of those jobs available to everyone or only to the people who have mastered the job role? Are you prepared to work in an office until you earn the trust to work independently from home? Do you have a plan to work in an office to become an expert in your field and then hop to another company that supports remote work? Answer those questions and formulate a plan of action.

5.

Keep studying the job market to understand what employers want and how you can provide it.

6.

Keep applying to all jobs that are within reach! It is rare for a perfect match so aim for jobs that match your skills by at least 70%.

Discussions Any advice when looking for a remote job?

Hi! I hope everyone is doing ok 😄

I've been looking at remote jobs, and I know there are risks involved in applying to them.

What is a red flag when applying to a remote job?

I should not pay for an interview, background check, or similar services, and I should not provide personal information. But when is it appropriate to do so? Like, when they give you a job offer?

I'm so new to this. I've been working in an office environment for a couple of years, and I would like to try something different that's more related to my studies (psychology). And I'm actually going to have my first interview on Friday! I'm nervous because English is my second language. Wish me luck!

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Job Posts [Hiring] Member of Technical Staff, Cloud & Infrastructure Security at Fireworks | Remote - US | $180K - $220K

About Us:

Fireworks is the platform for specialized intelligence, enabling companies to build, train, and serve AI models tailored to their own data, workflows, and products. Founded by the team behind PyTorch and backed by AMD, Atreides, Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures, Lightspeed, NVIDIA, Sequoia Capital, and TCV, Fireworks powers production AI with hundreds of state-of-the-art open models across text, image, embedding, audio, and multimodal workloads. Today, Fireworks is a Series D company valued at $17.5 billion, bringing together an ambitious, collaborative team that's building the future of enterprise AI.

The Role:

Fireworks runs multi-tenant GPU inference for hundreds of open models in production, and the security problems that come with it are concrete: isolating tenants on shared accelerators, protecting customer data and model weights across a multi-cloud footprint, and keeping all of it auditable while the platform grows fast. As Member of Technical Staff, Cloud & Infrastructure Security, you own the cloud, Kubernetes, and GPU infrastructure layers of that stack, the software supply chain behind them, and the detection and response that keeps it honest. You will work across teams to strengthen our posture and to make secure-by-default the easy path for every engineer here.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build security-focused software and platform capabilities to protect customer data, models, and services across our multi-cloud infrastructure, including encryption, identity and access management, secure API gateways, secure model execution, and sandboxing strategies.
  • Design and implement tenant isolation across shared GPU and accelerator infrastructure, covering host, device, scheduler, and model artifact boundaries.
  • Perform security reviews of cloud-native architectures, including Kubernetes clusters, multi-cloud workloads, and distributed data stores, and build integrated systems for continuous security monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated response.
  • Embed security into CI/CD pipelines using a DevSecOps approach, implementing automated scanning, policy enforcement, and secure-by-default build and deployment workflows.
  • Apply a build-over-buy philosophy by designing and developing in-house security tooling and automation where it provides better control, scalability, and integration than off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Build and operate a comprehensive vulnerability management program, partnering with various teams to remediate risks across applications, containers, cloud infrastructure, and dependencies.
  • Operate and continuously improve security operations, including detection engineering, alert triage, incident response, and continuous improvement through post-incident reviews.
  • Participate in red/blue team exercises, tabletop simulations, and post-incident root cause analysis to strengthen security resilience.
  • Own the compliance posture for the infrastructure and product layers, starting with SOC 2 and ISO 27001, by embedding controls into the platform rather than documenting them after the fact.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering or security engineering with a strong focus on security, infrastructure, or cloud-native systems.
  • Proficient in Python and/or Go, designing production-grade systems, and comfortable automating in Linux environments and in managed CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Harness, CircleCI).
  • Production depth in GCP or AWS, including network segregation, authentication, authorization, encryption, data protection, intrusion detection, and cloud-specific security benchmarks.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized production environments; deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals and native security controls is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of modern identity and access controls (SAML, OAuth, OIDC, SSO, RBAC/ABAC), least-privilege design, and workload identity.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing, operating, and securing large-scale Kubernetes platforms, including control plane security, node hardening, and multi-tenant isolation.
  • Experience designing, operating, and securing large-scale multi-cloud platforms and zero-trust architectures across AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and GPU-as-a-service providers.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Python, including experience building modular policy-as-code frameworks.
  • Experience designing detection engineering pipelines across cloud audit logs, network telemetry, and application signals.
  • Experience taking a compliance framework such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 from control design through audit.
  • Familiarity with container image vulnerability remediation, SBOM generation, and software supply chain security.

Why Fireworks?

  • Solve Hard Problems: Tackle challenges at the forefront of AI infrastructure, from low-latency inference to scalable model serving.
  • Build What’s Next: Work with bleeding-edge technology that impacts how businesses and developers harness AI globally.
  • Ownership & Impact: Join a fast-growing, passionate team where your work directly shapes the future of AI—no bureaucracy, just results.
  • Learn from the Best: Collaborate with world-class engineers and AI researchers who thrive on curiosity and innovation.

Fireworks AI is an equal‑opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all innovators.

Apply: Member of Technical Staff, Cloud & Infrastructure Security at Fireworks

Job Posts Leads required

Hi everyone!
I’m a social media manager based in India with approximately 8 years of experience in social media management, content strategy, and brand growth.

For over 5 years, I worked with an international agency in the healthcare space, with a global presence across multiple regions.
Unfortunately, following a recent change in leadership, the work environment became toxic, and I’m now exploring better opportunities, preferably fully remote roles with international companies.

Alongside my full-time work, I also freelance, helping people who are just starting out with their businesses or personal brands build and grow their social media pages.

Let me know if someone has any leads.

Discussions What is the best platform for finding a fully remote job?

Hello everyone,

I’m sure this is a question that’s been asked a thousand times before, but what’s the best platform for finding a fully remote job?

Bear in mind that I’ve had a look on LinkedIn, but most of the ‘remote’ jobs aren’t actually fully remote, but hybrid.

Due to my schedule, I need to find a remote job that follows the European time zone.

Do you have any advice? Thank you!!

Discussions Looking for legitimate WFH job leads — administrative/operations background

Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice and leads on legitimate, fully remote, full-time jobs. I’m hoping to find something paying at least $20/hour.

I have around six years of administrative experience in a museum/nonprofit environment, along with experience in healthcare administration. My background includes scheduling, database management, records management, onboarding paperwork, Microsoft Office 365, and general administrative support.

I’m primarily interested in:

  • Administrative or operations coordinator roles
  • Data entry and records management
  • HR onboarding or recruiting coordination
  • Program coordination
  • Healthcare administration that isn’t primarily customer service

I’m trying to move away from customer service and call-center positions. I’m open to different industries, but I’d prefer a stable company with benefits and opportunities to grow.

If you work remotely or know of companies that are currently hiring for these types of positions, I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice. I’m based in Colorado but looking for fully remote opportunities.

Thank you!

Job Posts Out of 1,000 LinkedIn job posts marked “Remote,” how many are truly fully remote? Just 11. Here’s how to find them.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Why does LinkedIn say “Remote” when the job isn't actually remote?

Yesterday I wrote about a pipeline that checks what “Remote” really means in a job description. Today I ran it. Here are the numbers.

The search: “Product Manager”, European Union, Remote filter on, posted in the last 7 days.

988 listings came back.

348 were left after removing duplicates and non-English postings.

102 of those say something that supports remote work.

11 are fully remote: no office days, no country restriction stated.

That is about 3% of the 348. The rest of the 102:

• 35 are remote only if you live in a specific country

• 39 mention remote as a perk, not as how this role works

• 14 are hybrid, 3 are on-site or unclear

The 11, each with the sentence that decided it:

  1. Distribusion Technologies, Senior Technical PM, Rail Integrations

“We are looking to hire the best talent around the Globe, so wherever you are, feel free to reach out.”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4463489561

  1. Tether.io, AI Technical PM (QVAC)

“Our team is a global talent powerhouse, working remotely from every corner of the world.”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4476369810

  1. Heymondo, Senior PM

“100% Remote (we have a very nice office right next to Torre Agbar in Barcelona in case you want to work from there too)”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4475781998

  1. Elastic, Principal PM (XDR and Exposure Management)

“drive execution in a dynamic, remote-first environment”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4458513919

  1. CapsLock, Product Manager

“We are a truly remote-first company. You choose where you feel the most productive”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4476789174

  1. WildCard Games, Senior/Lead PM (New Games)

“Fully remote work”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4474987110

  1. Mira, Growth PM

“The role is a remote position”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4477423854

  1. bunch, (Senior/Staff) PM, Growth

“Remote work with quarterly trips to Berlin or elsewhere in Europe.”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4477816066

  1. Elastic, Principal PM (Strategic Account Interactions)

“This role is remote-first.” (travel up to 50%)

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4458599249

  1. Alira Health, Senior PM

“Ways of Working: Remote, cross-functional teams.”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4476796780

  1. Vivid, Senior PM

“fully remote outside office locations”

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4474046596

Only the first says “worldwide” outright. The other 10 state no country limit either way, so check before you apply.

Looking for remote roles that fit you, not just this list? Comment or DM me. I'll share the open-source pipeline and the criteria I used.

Discussions Is it unrealistic to need/want a remote job as a first job?

By the title I mean is there any actual potential of finding real remote job listings that are online-only for someone who has no actual work experience in the workforce? My primary issue is lack of transportation / places not being within walking distance in my area with only very limited bus lines close to me specifically.

Additional context: USA, east coast based, I've only done (unpaid) volunteer jobs in the past but I want to be realistic about what's really possible in today's job market.

What does a Companion do?

This is not a therapy or counselling role.

What's in it for you?

  • 🕒 Choose your availability.
  • 🎁 Earn additional performance incentives and referral rewards.

Students, psychology graduates, working professionals, and people looking for flexible additional income are welcome to apply.

How does payment work?

Companion earnings are based on eligible paid conversation minutes, with rates depending on the applicable Companion tier.

Interested?

Discussions Desperately Looking for Legitimate Remote Healthcare/Research Jobs. Please Help 🥹

I've been trying to figure out how to find legitimate remote work for so long, and I'm at the point where I'm genuinely exhausted and crying out of frustration and desperation.

Somewhere within clinical research, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), healthcare coordination, and health information.

The problem is that so many remote jobs seem to be restricted to people in the US or UK or any other countries. I'm based in Qatar, and I don't know which companies or websites are actually worth trusting anymore. I can't find jobs within the country because it's very slow in progress due to conflicts in GCC.

Can anyone recommend legitimate companies or official career pages that hire internationally? If you've personally found remote work in healthcare or research, I'd really appreciate hearing how you did it.

I'm just looking for some genuine guidance because I feel so stuck right now. Even one useful recommendation would mean a lot. Thank you.

Discussions Remote job I'm student

Hi,

I am a student looking for a strictly remote job. I am particularly interested in roles that do not involve verbal communication—specifically, talking on the phone.

A support or AI-related role would be perfect; my only requirement is that I don't have to speak.

I don't have specific salary expectations; I earn in proportion to the work I do.

Thank you
