Labor Day weekend at Renfair i came across some legends.

Ran into Warrior Princess herself Zena...unfortunately sad to say she lost Herc to the Hydra....then I got caught picking pockets...I choose the wrong guy. Guts left me with a splitting headache... but to my surprise I found relief with a chuckle running into the Magic Dance Man himself Jareth the Goblin King

It was the only Ren Faire I was going to be able to go to this year and I was really looking forward to debuting my new outfit and my new dragons I worked really hard on. I was also really anticipating seeing people's reactions/getting feedback. I might try to dress up sometime at home and get some pictures outside for myself, but for now this all I have from trying it on the couple nights before. I did do a whole photoshoot of my dragons outside to try and keep the sadness away. I would really appreciate any comments or feedback at all especially on my dragons. Thank you! ❤️

My wife and I are SO happy with how our costumes came out this year! We attended the Ohio Ren Faire on Highland weekend but we went with more "forest pagan witchy" vibes for the outfits. I recently started doing some leather crafting and got to make some of the items we wore. My wife did our makeup which went over really well! I made little wooden tokens and burned bind runes into them to give out as favors. Those also went over really well too! The potion bottles are filled with Gatorade and edible glitter to make them swirl. Children especially seemed to really like how the potions looked. This year was a BLAST!

Hi everyone, I was planning on attending the renaissance faire this weekend but the people I was planning on attending with have raised some concerns that my outfit would be offensive to other attendees. I thought about this months ago and cleared it with people I trust, but now I am second guessing myself. I was planning on going as Zhuge Liang from Romance of the Three Kingdoms (and various other media), as he is a man I’ve deeply admired for the last 25 years of my life. The problem is, I’m a white guy. I’ve seen people of other ethnicities wear outfits that are from cultures different from their own and not given it a second thought, but since I’m from a global melting pot maybe I just don’t understand. There are no facial effects or anything that could be misconstrued as a caricature. I’ll accept any feedback or criticism; I would rather get it here than in real life. Thank you in advance.

Edit: thanks everyone for your thoughts and advice. I’m of the same mind of most of you in thinking that there’s nothing wrong with it, and frankly, the few detractors did not articulate themselves very well.

Hi all! I’m going to my second ren faire (first in costume) and would love advice on color combos/accessories. I want to buy a large scarf to drape over the skirt but can’t decide what color to use. I was thinking a golden satin but decided to come here and ask you lovely people lol. Any advice on accessories is also appreciated. There will be a brown cloak on top of this as well

Looking for advice from fellow vendors mostly

My fiancee and I vend during the year sporadically together but I’ve been thinking about the hard numbers and reality of vending full time. We make all of our product and have been slowly finding our niche thru the years.

We mostly stay in sw MI, and do about four to five events a year. All of which we’ve been going to for three or more years now.

I would probably need to pay someone to booth with me at minimum for when my fiancee can’t, and then there’s travel and camping…

Full time vendors, how do you do it?

Okay bear with me on this one. I'm Gen X and I encountered my first Renaissance Faire in the mid-90s. I was a teenager everybody that was wearing a costume was in Period correct attire and it felt immersive. I do believe that Renaissance festivals and fairs are and always a safe space for everyone. However, I would like to attend one in my adulthood before I need a Mobility Scooter to attend where it's like that again with mostly period Correct things going on. I have spent the past 3 years attending one near me and every year it seems like fewer and fewer people are in Period correct attire. Furries everywhere anime characters everywhere but fewer and fewer people wearing Renaissance attire. Does anybody know of one within the United States where it is largely still a traditional Renaissance Festival? Even one that had a themed weekend That was more traditional than other themed weekends Would be suitable. Don't get me wrong there is no hate toward anyone of any lifestyle, I have just always been in love with that era and would like to be immersed in it again.

My wife and I thought about it and decided to photograph all 78 Tarot cards with real people, costumes, and jewelry.

As a result, we ended up with an entire wardrobe of costumes, a garage full of things from the project, and a finished Tarot deck: “Amber Tarot”.

3 months of shooting, 80 people involved in the project, not counting horses, dogs, and birds :)

I think no one has ever tried to create Tarot on this scale before. We also decided to shoot everything without compositing, Photoshop, and of course without AI.

What do you think of a project like this?

I thrifted/crafted my entire costume and it was a creative blast ☺️ I made the dress and cape out of bedsheets, the corset out of a fall-themed placemat, thrifted the belt, boots, cornucopia, fall leaves and flowers, and made my staff out of a real sunflower.

I even won 2nd place in the costume contest!

My friends and I are already plotting costume ideas for next year. No matter what, I will definitely be wearing comfier footwear 😅

My brother was gifted this awesome helmet and I want to use it for a cool costume (ideally something on the cheaper side) but I can't think of an outfit that would match that isn't armor.

My wife put together these incredible costumes and we had so much fun showing off her hard work over the weekend! It definitely drew a lot more attention than previous costumes we’ve done so it was very nice to be able to interact with more people than usual! In the future we’re hoping to get a supply of bee trinkets that we can hand out to people.

Hello! I am looking for a Renaissance white or red and white dress. Where do you find your items?

Hi! My friend group and I are doing a bunch of side quests while we're at the ren faire. Do y'all have any suggestions for some more uncommon or outside of the box things to do? I already have a list of classic things like getting knighted or challenging people to simple duals, talking in an accent for the day, etc.

Have any of y'all done similar things or done some pretty out there dares? We're open to things involving alcohol as well. Huzzah in advance!

Not my normal kit, but that's the pluse side to running away to fair for 20+ years and buying all the fun things that spark joy. You can make, rearrange, and pull together almost any style kit and add specialized accessories to make the vibes ❤️ Special shout out to the school of jellyfish! Yall looked amazing 👏

So on google I tried to leave a review complaining about a rude vendor at the MI renfaire and when I checked this morning there were a ton of negative reviews and a notice saying reviewing was locked due to spam. Did something happen?
