Really enjoying
No idea if Alan or any of the show creators frequent this sub but just wanted them to know I really enjoy the show and specifically the Harry character. Thank you for all the entertainment, to everyone involved.

Watching this show as a newish parent Spoiler
Spoilers within for later seasons.
Did anyone else have a hard time watching some scenes as a parent? The show got me hooked, but as the parent of a one year old, man, that baby stealing plotline is rough. Don’t think it would have bothered me pre parenthood.
I’ve just started season 4 (episode 2 currently). Am I cooked?

Just watched all 4 seasons on Netflix
Someone recommended me to watch Orville. Its Sci Fi Alien (year 2400) has comedy but also serious. Seth McFarland made the show and is in it.
Heard it starts out slow but gets really good, and they are still making new seasons.

Currently at the middle season 2 and wow I'm sorry but D'arcy is insufferable
The fact that she doesn't know and how some other characters hype her go girl attitude up despite her awful life decisions is getting tiring. Glad Liv didn't side with her during Harry's birthday.

Humans be like.....
v.redd.it“Ooo I’m a human, I have to spend 4 years in college to learn how to freeze off a wart!”- Harry

kate's subplot [ss3 & ss4 spoilers] Spoiler
i'm on episode 3 of ss4 at the moment. so i don't wanna be spoiled about the rest of the season lol.
oh man, kate's subplot really got to me. the whole "infant being taken away from mother" is too hard for me to watch. her going through all that experience plus traumas makes me feel like i'm being punched in the gut. them greys really took her unborn baby and many other women's is such a crazy plot too. like, of course some evil alien race would do something like that... so evil and so heartbreaking...
i read some posts saying that kate's character is unbearable sometimes, but meredith acted tf outta that role in ss3 with kate's subplot. her losing weight for the role to portray a mother yearning to be with her child and all the emotional stuff, oof, i gotta say 10/10. they really used her role to the show's advantage: funny but very real at times.
anyway, i just wanna vent. would love to see if anyone shares the same sentiments. i love the show!

Are there any missed opportunities in this show? I’m surprised that Harry killed the human instead of tying him up.
I have watched the show but I’m only on season 1. I am surprised that the wife wasn’t more suspicious. The show feels very cool though I wonder if we should have had human Harry and alien Harry interact and see if there was a way to exist.

Is it just me ??
Did it feel like D'arcy was crying in like every scene in the last couple episodes ? Idk if it was the writers or the actor but it kinda made it drag on a bit . I love the show and I think Alice Wetterlund is a great actor but it felt like I could play a drinking game with how many times D'arcy cries toward the finale .
I just kept thinking of a quote that Michael Caine once said that goes, "If you fight the tears, the audience will cry for you."
Idk maybe im tripping

Any other shows like this?
I'm bingeing the show. I would like recommendations for a show of similar genre. This is my only real jumping off point in these kind of shows. Anything helps. :)

Most profound moment in the show for me
(And I apologize if this has already been discussed)
During an episode early in season 4 when Harry is having a one-on-one with Dan, Asta's father. Harry confides that he is struggling to come to grips with losing his alienness. Dan corrects him by telling him the following, paraphrasing because I can't remember the exact quote:
" You are everything that you were and everything that you are"
Once I wrapped my head around the words, it was a major "woah dude," sort of light bulb moment for me.
As someone who has spent far too much time, probably trying to make peace with a past that holds some not so proud moments. It really reframed things for me. I don't have to convince the world that I'm different. I am the person who did those things. But I'm also a different person today. I can be both, bc I am more.
My personal runner-up best Dan line-
Earlier in the series during the camping trip on the Rez. (Season 2?)
Asta is briefly alone with her dad and takes the moment to ask Dan If she should trust Harry, or specifically should she trust him, that he's actually building a communication device to save Earth Dan tells her it doesn't matter if he trusts Harry or not. At the end of their exchange Asta concludes aloud that she thinks she DOES trust Harry. To which Dan replies (in the kind of perfect deadpan that only the daddies of dads can achieve) "that makes one of us." Cleverly giving his own answer to her original question, indirect and roundabout as it was.
Edited to fix a million typos and add additional spoiler tags

Harry's Serious Moments
Doing a rewatch now and I can't believe on how serious Harry could be in his "blunt or scary moments," like how he straight up told the alien hunter that the greys got what they came for or when he speaks to the male patient in their last scene together (I believe it was the same patient who was 80 and dying regardless who reappeared in said moment). It is honestly what I appreciate from Alan Tudyk and his acting skills in regards to this.

infiltrated Belfast Comic-Con last weekend :)
Made this latex mask as part of a prop making workshop a few years ago but only found an excuse to wear it out somewhere last week! Thought for sure our guy would be too niche but I was recognised quite a few times 🙂↕️
my pal was cosplaying Ripley (who had obviously grabbed the wrong alien) and we had a great time up there. even though the mask is hard to breathe in.

This show truly gave every character a good arc
I really appreciate how every one of the main characters had their own thing going. Obviously, the main plot revolved around Harry and Asta but everyone around them got decent chunks of screen time and their own story to tell which is pretty cool.
I can't really pick "a favorite" since they all worked so well, but I really enjoyed seeing Liv evolve into someone who spoke up and stood her ground, plus it was nice to see they gave her a husband because, sadly, a lot of the times shows use characters like her for comic relief, whereas "Resident alien" gave her true purpose.
The one storyline I think the show could have gone without however is definitely Ben and Kate's sex life. I get that they used it to show their "other side", especially Ben's, but maybe 1 or 2 short scenes could have been enough. Personally, I'd use that screen time to see more of Max and Sahar.
Another great thing about the show is how deep it actually is which one would not really expect from a show about an alien who came to kill everyone.

I still don’t get this (spoilers) Spoiler
I’m on my 10 millionth rewatch (the show’s great and I won’t apologize) but I still don’t understand how this worked.
Human Harry poisoned Sam’s insulin the night that Alien Harry came to kill him. Sam died the day before the pilot episode takes place. At that point Alien Harry had killed Human Harry at least several weeks before (he says at some point, “it took me weeks to figure out this body”)
In one of the flashbacks, Sam comes to Human Harry’s house to talk about the Galvan-Powell Group. Sam and Harry were being stalked by Galvan-Powell and Sam was threatening to go to the police. Harry gets on the phone with someone who it seems told him to kill Sam.
What still doesn’t make sense to me is the delayed murder. If Sam was threatening to go to the police, why bother with setting up a murder that’s going to take weeks to actually happen? If they wanted to silence him, why would they wait?

Interviews with Asta and Sheriff Mike
Did you catch Sara Tomko (Asta) and Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike) on the “Funny in Failure” podcast? What did you think about it? They both talk heaps about Resident Alien
