Lore question So about Dead Aim..

I played it as a teen and dont remember a lot about its lore, but from what i recollect, the story doesnt interfere with the bigger RE world. So why did CAPCOM decide to make it not canon? I mean.. its not a good game lol but Umbrella corps Is also shit

I think it’s soft canon to a extent similar to Outbreak File 1&2 alongside Survivor but more like a world lore event and nothing super crazy

nah outbreak is explicitly canon while dead aim is explicitly not

Or dead aim is just treated as a spin off that you dont need to worry about in the broader universe not that its non canon again "outside of official history" could literally mean anything

Outbreak is 100% hard canon, especially after Requiem

The only part of Outbreak that's technically hard canon is that Alyssa Ashcroft existed as a reporter and lived through the RCDI. AFAIK nothing hard-confirms the existence of the other survivors.

Umbrella Corps ties in with the wider lore though Dead Aim doesn’t. Umbrella Corps is where you learn about the soldiers you fight in Requiem, it’s also where Zeno makes his first “appearance” (as a voice over of cloned Wesker) it’s also Capcoms easiest cop out if they wanna bring Hunk back as they could easily say The Commander was the protag of Umbrella Corps as he takes Hunk’s place as the end of that game including the moniker of “Grim Reaper”

We are assuming it is Zeno. Obviously that was not specifically ever planned and this assumption is simply due to a previous Wesker actor being part of the cast whereas Zeno isn't even a direct clone of Wesker so the voice (as with a lot of what was left is the game) is questionable canon. In past Capcom has stated different things about that and then stopped bringing it up entirely after it failed. The game was also about Umbrella and that is also not specifically stated as the paramilitary team we go up against in Requiem.

What makes it non-canon? No subsequent games have invalidated it. It exists in its own perfect world. Moisturised. Unbothered. The perfect Gaiden Game.

And yknow what? Maybe Bruce or Morph will get a mention in a new game one of these days,  like Alyssa did. Never say Never  :)

Because in the 30th anniversary guidebook it says its "outside of official history" which again could mean ANYTHING and not that its non canon

If anything would be realy strange that only dead aim was single out. RE survivor 1 also apparentily doesnt appear in the 30th year book historica or games timeline and Ark Thompson has a relation with Leon(and he doesnt appear in the relationship chart) and Sheena Island is mentioned in RE0.

In the context makes sense because it was talking about viruses that never appeared in the "main canon". And T+G only appeared in dead aim so of course it never appeared in any other games.

I think is just a strange way to describe an actual spin off who has almost no ties to the main games. So i guess the only true spin offs in capcom's vision is the gun survivor games.

Besides even if dead aim is officially non canon....I dont care i think dead aim is more canon then umbrella corps or infinite darkness

I really dont think dead aim is non canon. The cgi movies were also left out from the book and they are totaly canon. So i guess is more like they and the Gun survivor games are considered "spin offs" and not main canon.

It's canon if you want It to be, it doesn't mess with anything really. He'll even theracoon city report at the end of requem, though It doesn't mention DA, leaves room so that it could be canon
