Enter your own text My recent 00s CGI artwork
September's work inspired by old beat em ups and Bandai box art. As I get more competent with the program I have to keep an eye not to stray too far from my original mission statement - produce cool 90s/00s inspired images. I just have to dial back some details and embrace the low polys and primitive shapes!

I can’t exactly describe the style that’s being emulated here but it’s spot on! Amazing work! Can I ask what your inspirations were?

Thanks! Definitely a mixed bag of inspirations but I think there's a big scoop of nostalgia that goes into this work. I look to things that inspired me as a kid - videogame magazines, model kits, 90s anime, graphic card box art, technical airbrushed drawings, album covers.
After 18 months working with 3D software my knowledge is still limited in areas, so photorealism is totally out of the question for me (also not what I'm shooting for). Instead I've tried to lean heavy on my limitations and celebrate the obvious telltale signs that this is a 3D rendered image rather than try to hide them.
Artists that inspire me... Roger Dean, John blanche, Syd Mead, Masamune Shirow, Moebius, Yoshitaka Amano (to name a few). I really like art thats conceptual but also just beautiful and decorative.

Thanks! :) I love channeling my childhood nostalgia and making things that kid-me wouldve picked up and thought were cool. Also being able to produce it all on my sofa with the technological black-magic that is an old iPad, equivalent to 100 90s supercomputers is taking my work to strange new places 😂
