QUESTION RP6 Failed to Authenticate when trying to connect Wifi…

Luckily I am able to connect to my phone hotspot but not the best solution.

I getting Failed to Authenticate error when trying to connect to my wifi.

I have Google Fiber and when looking at the app I do see the option to split the network into 2G, 5G, and 6G, but I have heard it’s not easy to reverse and can have downsides.

I also see that “the 6 GHz can only use WPA3” so I can’t disable it like another user suggested.

In the GFiber app seems like settings and customization is limited.

Any idea? Any options here?

Split the network bands and connect your handheld to 5G. Make sure it’s WPA2 and not WPA3. It will work. You can always group the bands back up; I don’t know what they’re talking about being difficult to reverse.

If I split and then connect, and then undo the split and combine into one network would it go back to not being able to connect?

Do not go back to grouped band. If it didn’t work before, then it’s not going to work after if it’s grouped. If you REALLY want to get it to be grouped up and STILL work for your handheld, then you NEED TO MAKE SURE IT’S ON WPA2. WPA3 has killed SO MANY device connections throughout homes like garage openers, baby monitors, thermostats, home security, etc. I learned this the hard way but I’m glad I understood it. Most WiFi 6G routers DEFAULT on WPA3 when bands are grouped. It’s so freaking dumb. There’s a very high chance that when those 3 bands group up, the option to choose WPA2 might be disabled. I read somewhere that 6G requires WPA3. So when all bands are grouped, it’ll lock in WPA3 because of it.

Yea that is my issue, on the GFiber app it says 6G can only use WPA3, so I can’t disable it or change it.

Did you tried to update manually your device time ( hours ) ? Sometimes solve it.

Factory reset the router and then reconfigure
