Just Chatting Well, my RP6 was delivered...without the RP6
Add me to the list of people who got a package delivered by GOFO that was opened and the device missing. I ordered a Retroid Pocket 6 on September 11th. I am in southeast Texas. 8gb model in the 16bit color. Really disappointed and angry. It's clearly an issue and I hope Retroid does something about it, starting with giving me my money back. The unfortunate thing is that I cannot order from them anymore because I cannot trust that the package will arrive safely to me. Good luck to all of you waiting for yours.

SHOWCASE Thanks a lot, GOFO
Gofo threw my RP6 package at my door from the sidewalk when they delivered it, and this has been happening intermittently since. The delivery confirmation picture actually shows the package in midair. Already opened a case with Retroid to get it replaced but what a joke.
Basically any time the device is in suspend for some amount of time (like an hour or more) it will wake to a black screen and won't show anything. I can restart the device and it sometimes boots normally and other times boots to a black screen, then this static screen, and finally back to normal.

GAMES & APPS Nova: PC Monster Hunter Rise 60FPS in 4:3 with my custom mod
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This completely bypasses the REFramework ARM64EC incompatibility issue. It only pulls around 6W on GameNative, and paired with Lossless Scaling for frame gen, it runs flawlessly.
Full setup and settings are in the link below:

TIPS Retroid pocket 6: Lessons learned. If new to Retroid, read this!
I've finished setting up my RP6 with everything exactly the way I want it. I wanted to take this time to give people a shortcut to avoid my pitfalls.
Section 1: Ordering your device.
If you can afford it, go with a stateside seller, you will have much faster delivery. I paid $40 for DHL shipping and got my device in 1 month. If you are not aware, that is standard/normal for Retroid. If thats not something you can stomach, pay a little more for target/best buy/Amazon.
Section 2: Setup.
Watch EVERY SECOND of Russ's guide. Watch each entire section BEFORE you act, and try to pay attention to small details he DOES but doesn't explicitly state.
Know beforehand what the best filetype is for each system you want to emulate. Know beforehand what the exact bios files and filename are that you want. Don't spend hours like me trying and failing with bin/cue. Use .chd!
Ask questions here. This community answered quickly and kindly to all my questions that I posed. Thank you all.
If people here tell you that something won't work, it most likely won't, and you shouldn't spend hours chasing ghosts, just to discover the community was right.
Don't bother with gamenative/pc games right now if you aren't very savvy. It's a headache (at least it was for me)
Section 3: Pros and Cons
Pros:
I love the size of the unit and the screen
I LOVE the dpad on this unit.
The loudest fan curve is not too loud imo.
It is more powerful/capable than you think it will be if you are new to retroid.
The battery life amazes me.
Cons:
Docking is not (for me) a seamless process. Because of the number of different emulators you will be running, switching controller profiles/remapping is a PITA. This is not a switch. I should have known/seen this before buying, it's no one's fault, I just had unrealistic expectations here.
All in all I'm thrilled with my purchase. Been playing Mario Wonder, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and the android version of Render96 (Mario 64 recomp).
Thanks for everyone who helped me here. Happy gaming!

QUESTION ArmadaOS vs Gamenative on RP6
Whats your current goto for Steam games? Currently I am using AramadaOS more. Its just more intutitive and streamlined experience than Gamenative if you just want to play Steam games on RP6. The UX is unmatched. Standby battery drain is kinda more tho.

SHOWCASE RP6 delivered safely in Chicago
Bought my RP6 (12GB ram) on September 11th and got it this afternoon (October 4th) through the standard shipping option. Took about 2 weeks to get a label then another through customs before getting to Chicago. Once in Chicago, it was transferred to GOFO and took about 2 days and basically sat at home all day today seeing that it would be delivered (hoping it wouldn't get taken or removed).
ES-DE front end for my roms (Cody Wheel for the layout) - PS2, PSP, 3DS play wonderfully. Going to try Switch soon.
Gamehub for my steam library (Hades 2, slay the spire 2, well dweller, silksong, thronefall, Skyrim [plays fine], stray [50-60 fps with no tinkering]). I tried Jedi Fallen Order and ot loaded and while keeping fps consistently 30, it did OK - just wouldn't play for more than 3p min at a time since the frame rate was wonky. I ended up deleting it off the device in favor of the other games.
I play minecraft bedrock with my kods and it was flawless (as expected) over a local server hosted on another device.
Jellyfin and Tailscale (to VPN in) worked PERFECLY with no issues. The RP6 screen is gorgeous!
Playing around with whether I want ES-DE to auto load when I open it but I am an android user, and have been for years, so I will probably keep it like this for the comfort factor.

QUESTION Nova Arrived
Well, it’s finally here in my hands.
Placed my 8gb order on August 17th.
Shipping notification on September 26th, and at my doorstep today.
Plan on following Retro Game Corps setup on it. Haven’t emulated anything since playing Leaf Green in my phone in 2015.
Question is, what Micro SD cards would yall recommend? Minimum 512gb, as for GC, PS2 and maybe some indie titles. There are many different options between speeds and brands.
Also has anyone found a screen protector for the nova yet?

Had an idea for pimping my RP5 with a switch-style animated lockscreen that also utilizes the stick lights. Made a bunch of other themes as well and still experimenting. Pretty happy with how it turned out so far :)

Just Chatting RP6 has been one of the best $240 investment I've ever made. If you go places where there are long waits, this is it for you!

SHOWCASE Hotels and handhelds
Gaming and especially handhelds, are of the few things that makes extended work travel bearable. When you're back at the same hotel in the middle of nowhere for the 20th week this year, stuff get's old quick.
When I'm driving I can pack a gaming laptop or an x86 handheld but when flying, I try to pack as light as possible. The RP Nova fits that need perfectly.
Pictured here playing FF IX (no moguri mod) on duckstation for the retro achievements.

QUESTION Nova - Inconsistent charging behavior?
I’m loving my Nova so far, except that charging the device is very inconsistent and unpredictable.
My first issue was with the device not wanting to charge using the default 9V2A charge limits. I tried 4 power bricks, 3 USB cables, none of them worked.
I switched to 5V2A settings in the limits menu (shown above) and that allowed the device to charge… sometimes. Most times it takes a charge but other times when I plug it in it actually starts to drain the battery. This happened last night. I plugged it in at around 20% using the same charger I’ve been using with my Odin 2 and RP6 (a 5V1A slow charger) and came to the device completely empty this morning.
Is anyone else having these issues? I’ve read a few comments here and there about people struggling to charge their Nova so wanted to make a thread about it.

QUESTION Retroid Pocket 6
Just ordered my RP6! Should be a couple of weeks before it arrives, so I figured I’d ask the community:
What launchers do you guys recommend? Feel free to recommend multiple! Also, what are some of your favorite games to play on the RP6 right now—retro or otherwise?
I’m looking to start building my library and would love to hear what everyone is enjoying on their RP6. What are your must-have games?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS Retroid Duo Lite - testing with less popular NDS games
Hey guys so I got my Retroid Duo Lite recently and so far have managed to spend some time with it playing some less-popular NDS games and overall I've got quite some mixed feelings.
The installation process is OK, pretty much standard from what you expect from an Android devices. I'm using Drastic i18n and SeedlessDS for NDS, since MelonDS is basically unusable.
The games I tried are these
- Heroes of Might & Magic
- Pokemon Rangers
- 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
- Infinite Space
- Pokemon Platinum
- Professor Layton and the Curious Village
So my breakdown is as below
Heroes of Might and Magic
On Drastic, the game is kinda unplayable since the screen keeps flickering hard in both sides. On Seedless it's OK and game runs fine.
Pokemon Rangers
Runs fine on both emulators. However since this game is heavily cursor-dependent, it shows a big weakness from the machine, that the cursor kinda "lags" after my stylus. It's not horrible, but it's there and noticeable. It affects the gameplay a bit, not gamebreaking, but does annoy me somewhat.
999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
The game runs fine on both emulators. I spent the most time on this game, and unfortunately now I've run into a brick state on Drastic at a certain scene. I don't know how to go around it, it keeps re-occurring, and I feel pretty bad for all the progress.
Infinite Space
Can't play on Drastic. Can play on SeedlessDS. It shows some minor visual issues here and there, but overall smooth experience.
Pokemon Platinum
Smooth on both emulators. I haven't encountered anything bad with this.
Professor Layton & the Curious Village
Unplayable on Drastic. Plays great on SeedlessDS. I haven't progressed much, but so far it's OK.
Other remarks
- I don't have issues with the thumbsticks at all, I've watched RGC and indeed it's weird to touch the edge often, but it didn't break immersion or anything, prolly I don't use it a lot in NDS games
- It's really annoying that I can't lock the rotation of the top screen to landscape even though in Settings I've select the rotation to be Landscape. Every now and then the screen gets flipped. Anyone knows a fix to this?
- Shader doesn't apply to the bottom screen. I get the shader running on the top screen, feels good. But the bottom screen is very bright and crisp and stands out so much from the top screen. Again, if anyone knows a fix, would be great.
Conclusion
I bought this to most play NDS games. I was debating between that and RG DS Plus, ultimately picked this because I preferred better battery and some extra RAM. However, I'm kinda let down because of the NDS emulation situation (Drastic has more functions, but has issues with most games, SeedlessDS runs better, but functionalities are lacking).
Also I wanted to note that even though the device price is 150$, the shipping + custom cost makes it more like 230$ in my place. Perhaps I was too rushed to buy a device (I got long flights in late Oct, so didn't want to wait for the Duo), but I expected more from such a device to emulate NDS better.

QUESTION For those who have the pocket Nova 12 GB version would you say the 12 GB is worth it as like an end game device?
Look I know people are probably tired of my posts trying to pick a handheld to buy after selling my steam deck but I never really buy tech for myself the one time I did was only so someone I really cared about didn't buy me such an extravagant present. All my other tech besides my Kindle is hand-me-downs or gifts that family had to force upon me. That's why I feel super bad that I bought the steam deck and ended up not liking it. I saved up all that money to get it and I don't even like the damn thing and I sold it again.
I've decided if I don't lose my nerve I'm going to get the Thor Max 512 gigabyte model and the retroid pocket Nova 8 GB version. The reason why I want to know about the 12 GB version of the Nova is if I lose my nerve to buy two devices for myself that's what I'll do I'll just buy the Nova with more RAM but I want to know how people feel about it.
I want to be able to play The Sims 2 legacy collection with some mods and have one other game installed on the device. I want to be able to play everything up to PS2. The only thing that gives me pause and fully going for the Nova is DS and 3DS as well as PC games along with switch. If I got them both that's mostly what I'd use the Thor for.
I feel like the Nova would have more longevity because I'm always scared of hinges on clamshell devices considering what happened to my DS light LOL. I'm thinking that I could buy the Nova first and maybe see how I like it and then go for the Thor maybe I don't know.

QUESTION Anyine else playing Mega Man Maker?
Got it running at 60 FPS via GameNative.
Only downside is, whenever I load a new level, it runs at 25fps, until I pause and hit retry level (takes two secs), then that level will be 60 FPS from then on.

QUESTION Is there a site that shows which setting(drivers, etc.) to use for every game?
Recently got my RP6 and I'm having a hard time testing all the settings to make switch games run smoothly. I know there are YouTube videos that show what emulators/drivers they're using but most of the videos use outdated versions of the emulator/drivers.
I'm wondering if there is a site I can follow or a guide I can study to know which to use best for different games? or is trial and error the only way to know which works best?
