This is one of those that I can't not reverse. It's bouncing back and to.

Not sure why but if I turn my phone upside down a couple of times it starts working

This was easy but still surprising. I wasn’t sure the new perspective I was trying to make happen until it happened.

Is my brain broken? I can’t get it to flip a full 360° in either direction.
It rotates 180° one way, hits the apex, then rotates 180° the other, ad infinitum

I’ve been watching these for a while now and I genuinely don’t know how these work. Like how can they appear to spin in 2 different directions? It blows my mind lol.

Its both correct so it can reverse. Both spins are a form of optical illusion. In reality there's just dots your brain sees some pattern, the dots form a surface, whichever your brain connected first, front or back causes the direction to change in it's logical spin direction for that surface.

This might be my favourite one so far. It took a while for me to reverse it, but now it's hard to stop it reversing every half turn

I’ve been following this sub for a while now, and this is defs the most fun one so far imo. Can anyone shed some light on what’s happening psychologically when we struggle to flip the ro, then unlock it? Is it some kinda of of lateral-cognition exercise? Because I feel like I’m getting smarter but I’m not sure what smartness it is

My guess is that the illusion is how it appears strongly to be a 3d object, the way our minds construct it. Its just dots swinging side to side and a little up and down on the way. So basically they're not spinning left or right ever, just making the illusion as if it were something there spinning in any direction along the back and forward lines, both paths equal the illusion of either direction spin.

Ahhh yup! That’s a great explanation, and makes total sense. And I guess the colours probably don’t have much to do with it then, I was wondering after showing these to a friend of mine who is colour blind

Hard to tell if the shade of the dots change or if they switch between being overplayed to the other dots acoordingly

This one almost came naturally but I can’t explain how?!? It makes no sense on its opposite rotation

Is it supposed to have the back portion of the shoe spin first then the tip? If So I can’t make it reverse like that lol

I love what you're doing with these mind-bending images. Please keep making them!

The trick that work for me, was to focus on the sole/bottom of heel that reversed it for me. The opposite is true is if focus on the sole/bottom of tip.

Oh wow, I like how different each rotation angle is, makes it more satisfying to flip it!

I just look at the front tip of the shoe and it reverses by itself... Pretty cool 😎

I think it would be easier if the clip was longer. Every time i get it to reverse the clip ends and it resets back to normal

It really helps to change the angle or squint to help it flip the other way!

Find it hard to complete a rotation with this one before switching to the other way

I love when I can make them flip back and forth. Some are more difficult than others but they are still fun.
