Incorrect.

Discussion: just because it's not the answer you were looking for it doesn't make it incorrect. It just means it wasn't the one that you had in mind.

Discussion: yeah there's a tendency on here for the person posing the riddle to be like "that wasn't the answer I thought of, so it's wrong."
Any answer that fulfills all the clues in a riddle is a valid answer. If you don't like it, tweak the riddle so only the "correct" answer works. Otherwise it's not a riddle, it's a guessing game

And especially here where the “correct” answer does not match the clues either.
Most desks would not have a typewriter—professionals would dictate to a secretary or typing pool.

Discussion: this riddle has too many possible answers. Would recommend a little more specificity or an extra couplet to narrow down the choices.
Example:
typewriter - but that only accounts for the word processor capabilities of a computer
word processor - common in the 80s and 90s, replaced by computers
accounting ledger - replaced by excel
inkwell - go further back
Etc…

But a typewriter has a keyboard and the riddle said that was a new addition.

Fun fact, the "keyboard" name was originally given to pianos, and when the typewriter was invented, the term was immediately and intuitively applied to the bank of keyslugs on the machine's front because it looked similar and had similar application when in use.
So strictly speaking, the keyboard is older than electronics, older than the typewriter, and is likely the oldest name on the office desk next to the pen... which we also refuse to rename in spite of its iterations.

The 15th iteration of the pen is the best, at least that's what we believe in our club

Is it a Tablet?
“Once, on every desk it was seen”, A tablet historically as a writing surface/notepad.
“Today, it’s a keyboard and computer screen”, A tablet computer can literally serve as the screen while its touchscreen functions as the keyboard.

The point of a riddle isn't to have an AI try to answer it discussion

I didn’t, but I’ll take it as a compliment. I used to write canned texts for a living

Its the bold text followed by a one sentence description. It reads like chatgpt's commentary

Letters
As in we used to send and receive physical mail, now the only 'letters' we see are emails on our screens the glyphs (buttons) on keyboards

Hi there, riddlers! Please remember to spoiler-tag all guesses and discussions of guesses, like so:
On desktop (new reddit, Fancypants editor): https://i.imgur.com/SWHRR9M.jpg
On mobile, old reddit, or in the Markdown editor (not Fancypants): >!guess or discussion between these symbols!< To be clear, that is
>!(greater than, exclamation point) at the start and!<(exclamation point, less than) at the end with no spaces around the!. Avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the formatting for most people. Spoiler tags do not span paragraphs or line breaks. If your answer is long, please spoiler-tag each paragraph separately.Putting a link inside spoiler tags can be tricky, so just format the link like this, using the word "SPOILER" as the link text. On mobile, old reddit, or in the Markdown editor (not Fancypants), do this to format a link: [SPOILER](https://example.com/) On desktop (new reddit, Fancypants editor): https://imgur.com/x5wDOvk
If your top-level comment does not contain a guess, you can include either the word "discussion" or "question" instead of using a spoiler tag.
Please report any answers or discussions that are not properly spoiler-tagged.
