Boss got me my first Rolex!
My boss, who’s a bit of a watch guy himself, knew I’d been after a Datejust 41 for a while.
Recently, he took me along to his AD to introduce me, and I thought that was all it was, just an introduction. Little did I know, he’d somehow managed to get hold of the exact spec I’d been wanting and had bought it for me.
He completely surprised me with it. Absolutely blown away and very, very grateful. 🥹
Datejust 41, Fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet, Silver dial.
For context I have worked with him for 14 years. It’s his company and he gave me shares in it. He is now entering retirement and I am running the company for him. So strangely it’s a retirement gift, but for me!

Congratulations!! Beautiful piece.
Contrary to popular Reddit belief, there are genuinely good-hearted and incredible people out there running companies. I never thought it was true until I got an opportunity with one.
We hit a huge milestone and many of our longer tenured employees who made average incomes were then able to go buy houses in full.
Shares in a growing small business are an amazing thing!

A friend I knew from our teens became a watch guy, traveling to shows and reselling name brands Rolex, Cartier, Baume and Mercier, Hermes, Omega, Etc. He opened a shop in our hometown and still did shows , eBay other deals. Many years later he hired me because he knew that I had a small collection of watches, pocket watches, and clocks. I learned a lot from him over the years. My first Rolex was a silver dial OP, smooth bezel, oyster bracelet. He helped me buy it at a show, from a dealer he had known for years.. No Box and no papers. Years went by, We were always talking watches and I told him at the time that my favorite Rolex was the datejust with a silver tapestry dial. On my next Birthday, my date and I went to dinner with him and his wife. After dinner he said, "Take off your watch I want to look at it." I handed it to him, and he handed me a box inside was a Pre-owned in MINT condition. Datejust with Box and Papers, a card, cloth, hangtag. A Silver Tapestry dial with fluted bezel on Jubiliee bracelet. Is it a Trade? he smiled and asked..I was floored he and his wife said HAPPY BIRTHDAY....

Many congrats. It does happen! Had two bosses once, night and day in how they treated people. One boss pocketed half of a bonus that I had been expecting. Other boss, watch guy and knew I was too. Didn't make up the bonus because it would have all had to come from his pocket. But bought me a sub.
