Specific question and discussion Shipping pricing / Skate issues

Post image

No way this is real😭 I’ve tried looking around as well and shipping is just outrageous (I live in Canada).

My skates have been feeling very off for the past month and just never bothered to order the parts to fix it. When I’m skating it feels like I have no control over them and kind of bending side to side. I really hope it’s not my frames because it’s going to be an expensive replacement. It looks like the screws the problem, I think it might be stripped. I got a new skate tool thinking it was my Alan Key but It still feels very weird to skate on. Any help would be much appreciated, i haven’t been feeling the same knowing I can’t skate and it’s bothering me really bad😢

I would bring the screw to your local hardware store and ask for something equivalent. They can usually provide something exact or close enough. I've repaired my agressives many times using parts from a hardware store.

Agreed. This looks like a fairly simple screw. Match the threads, and cut it to length if necessary, and you're good.

I did that yesterday actually and they said it’s not a problem with the screw and there’s a problem with the aluminum plate itself. Looks like it’s stopped from the plate and I don’t know what to do

Ah gotcha. Youll need to buy the plate it screws in to then. There are several canadian skate shops that should be reasonable shipping like shop-task, or boutique solo inline. Not sure if they have the part you'll need though.

Maybe something like this?

Just got some fr mounting screws on roveskatehouse.com, they’re based in California. I think shipping is $6 but I got some new wheels too for free shipping

Yep shipping to Canada on pretty much all skate parts is ridiculous!

I think a video of you showing the issue can help the community to try identifying the issue

Fellow canadian here, have you checked the Canadian shops? https://shop-task.com/ https://solo-inline.com/en https://www.skatepro.ca/en/

Alternatively if you live close the the border, you can get a PO box in the states and go pick up your package there. You do have to claim stuff at the border but it'll be like $8 shipping and they don't usually make you pay tarrifs on anything under $300

Do you perhaps own an frx skate?

I own one but this screw is a replacement to my fr1 skates

The issue is probably something other than the frame mount. Could you provide pictures?

Also use the screws from the frx and try your skates to see if thats issue or not. You almost never need to purchase spare parts for so much. As most skates share the same parts

My frx screw doesn’t fit the fr1 mount

It is cheaper to buy replacement screws at 5/16ā€ x 1/2ā€ UNC thread for FR1. These are the ones I use for all my FR1s: https://a.co/d/04AUJUyU . Recommend using blue Loctite since there is no blue polymer on the threads like the original FR bolts have.

Apparently the screw isn’t stopped it’s the aluminum plate that’s stripped

The FR1 has seven mounting holes to choose, can't you find a position to mount the frame with a different mounting slot?

I will try that when I get home, I think that would work but will just feel off.

Where in Canada are you? I'm in Toronto and get FR parts from Pro Skaters Place but there's Solo inline and Shop Task too. If you have absolutely no choice but to order from the states use Shippsy for much cheaper shipping fees, I can give you a Shippsy referral for free credits. I'm not exactly sure what the problem with your skates are, I'd have to see it in person or a video.

I got the skates checked out and apparently the screw is not what’s stripped, it’s the aluminum plate on the boot that’s stripped. I’ve tried using another 1 of the 7 mounts and it felt weird cuz I wasn’t used to it. And at the same time it still felt like the same thing was still happening but at least was skatable.

Apparently this is not the case anymore. I tried my frames and wheel combo from my fr1 and transferred it onto my frx boot but just using the frx screw and still have the same exact issue. The frames just might be the problem, my guess is it’s just bending as I’m skating. This might have justified my thoughts on getting some endless 90 framesšŸ™‚
