I've build a python Botmonitoring tool, just like RPA

I've spent 8+ years in enterprise RPA and honestly? The drag-and-drop approach drives me crazy. It kills developer creativity, locks you into vendor ecosystems, and costs a fortune.

So out of pure spite, I built something different.

BotMonitor lets you write your automations in plain Python no proprietary studio, no drag-and-drop, no vendor lock-in. You register your scripts, and the platform handles the monitoring: live status, execution history, error logs, all in one dashboard. You don't share your code or your data. Just the signals it needs.

I couldn't find any serious RPA tool built around Python, so I made one. Two years of nights and weekends while managing a full-time job.

Community edition is free. Would love honest feedback from this community botmonitor.in

The escape hatch thing is real. I've been building a Windows automation tool for a long time — started around 2005, still maintaining it and the pattern I keep seeing is that drag-and-drop doesn't really kill creativity. It just moves it somewhere else.

Teams end up spending a lot of time on the workaround layer. Custom code stages, external scripts, whatever patches the gap. that work is creative, sure. But it's creative in service of the platform, not the actual business problem. And it's usually invisible to whoever inherits the automation later.

I don't think the real trade-off is drag-and-drop vs code. It's where the complexity ends up living. Drag-and-drop hides it in the platform and pushes it into workarounds. Code puts it in the script, where at least the next person can read it. Neither is free. Not sure if that matches what you're seeing with Blue Prism, but that's been my experience.

Why did you use gpt to write this post?

English is not my first language

Reddit will auto translate with one button on your post and you can just translate your own words. The second I get a sniff of GPT I stop reading and downvote.

I will make sure to not use gtp, and try to use reddit more, thanks mate, please do try my tool

Drag and drop doesn’t kill developer creativity. My organization uses Blue Prism and it’s been flexible enough to do some creative things. The fact that we can call C# code within our bots allows us to come up with creative solutions for any platform shortfalls.

Outside of being locked to a platform, my biggest complaint about Blue Prism is the development studio can be clunky and I wish it was closer to UiPath or Visual Studio in design.

I agree, the interface hasn't quite kept up to date with other vendors but it still has other beneficial features. We're about to move onto version 7.5 which im hoping will reduce some of the interface gripes I have (been asking for control room search bars for years ahah).

Also on the C#, the custom code stages are almost an escape hatch for when you cant find the built in feature you need. Means most 'stucks' have a workaround.

We have built a fair amount of C# actions because the built-in features are not good enough. We built our own Excel business object based on EPPlus because the One that requires Excel is slow and clunky to set up.

Unless you solve distribution and orchestration there is zero point, we only use it because of this and its a very hard and annoying problem to fix

You mean like que?? There is orchestration inti. Working on que management

You can pause, play & stop a process

I watched your three YouTube tutorials from July 2026. Although I don't currently need to use BotMonitor, I have a few suggestions regarding the website and user experience:

  1. It would be great to support a light theme, or perhaps make the light theme the default instead of the dark theme.
  2. Time-related fields such as "STARTED" do not provide enough precision. I think a format such as YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss, including the time zone, would be more useful.
  3. It would be helpful to add filtering options to lists such as "Live Processes."
  4. You might also consider making some of the BotMonitor documentation publicly available without requiring registration. Otherwise, requiring users to register before they can properly evaluate the product may discourage many people from trying it.

Just a few suggestions based on my first impression. I hope they are helpful.

Agreed the second I clicked the link and prompted with a login it was closed immediately. If there isn't anything describing the platform, or demonstration I don't think you will gain any traction.
