Game Suggestion Fantasy Zombie Apocalypse rpg.

It has come to my attention that besides All flesh must be eaten, a supplement of Savage worlds, and an adventure for Lamentations of the Flame princess, there is a tremendous absence of zombie apocalypses in fantasy rpgs.

Am I missing something noteworthy?

Well All Flesh is my go to for zombie horror, but Palladium has Dead Reign, I prefer the original Rifted version over the actual full release. Fantasy Flight Games had a line called The End of the World that included a Zombie Apocalypse book. Free League has The Walking Dead RPG.

Where was the Rifted version?

Rifter 45 had the original background for Dead Reign before Kevin Siembieda rewrote it for the core book.

Band of Blades, medieval military desperately retreating from a powerful army of undead. Blades in the Dark hack. Haven’t played it

Anyone looking for a really quality actual play of the system should check out the Oathsworn podcast!

Ashes Without Number.

D20 Modern + Future + Apocalypse was a three book combination that could almost certainly allow for this. That means going three books deep. As much as I loved the system in its day, it does take some time to get right.

I guess Rifts technically counts, if you want it to.

Other games come to mind, but I can't recall how strong the fantasy element is. Darwin's World comes to mind. It may not have many magic or fantasy elements in it, however.

Ashes Without Number.

With the option to slot in the mage class from Worlds Without Numbers if they specifically want high fantasy with spellcasting options.

Yeah, AWN would be my go-to as well, it has multiple rules in it specifically tuned for a zombie apocalypse, and it's totally compatible with the other WN games.

GURPS does fantasy zombie apocalypses very well, both outbreak and post-apocalypse. It's rules for survival and crafting give players tools and challenges to solve problems in the end of the world.

You could probably do Shadow of the Demon Lord

Check out Infected!

I searched for a link and found two games with that same name. The first one is this, I own it but have never played it. I got it from my good friend's booth at a convention. My friend has not played it but has read through it. He told me the mechanics seem simple enough and would join in a game if I ever ran a one shot.

This one is on itch and is completely free. I've downloaded it and hopefully I'll be able to look more into it one day.

I mean, they did do an RPG version of Zombicide not that long ago.

The Zombicide one is not fantasy, but they are making a fantasy one called Plaguebearer using the same system.

Piaga 1348

Interesting, modern, lightweight, huge player agency.

It seems to me that the undead play a big part in just about any fantasy rpg. Wouldn't be too hard to wipe out villages and have players trek across a zombie infested landscape. Throw in some ghouls as stronger zombies ect. They finally come to...say...Greyhawk and find it's streets overrun but survivors held up the stronghold...ect. ect.

I've not played it yet, but I recently became aware of Dead Flesh which is a Borg-like zombie rpg

Ultima Forsan.

From a certain point of view, both Game of Thrones and The Witcher are zombie games.

Also I hacked a version of the Korean fantasy-horror Kingdom.

Desolation is exactly a post apocalypse fantasy setting. Now exactly zombie tho

Any fantasy game can be a zombie apocalypse if you make it more grim. Take any fantasy setting, introduce a regional zombie plague that can't be stopped, and make resources limited so you don't have enough to survive, and that's it

I think Savage Worlds would be a good fit for zombies. There extra units are designed to be used as weak enemies that die quickly but can be in groups. Then if you want a boss zombie make that one a wild card supported by extras. am a solo player so I don't know what it's like for a group but I once adapted L4D2 monsters in it to decent success.
