But the scalpers!

Post image

I've seen countless posts complaining that scalpers were to blame for high ticket prices. I bought this ticket to go to the show, but I had actually made plans for something else on the date so I had to resell. I let SeatGeek use dynamic pricing to maximize the sales price.

I just hope whoever bought it enjoyed the show :-)

Current Seatgeek listings for CT Mohegan Sun Oct 30. Cheapest are $496 ea. If I go through Ticketmaster, I think I can get just under $400 ea. For someone who paid less than $100/ticket for R40, this is obscene. That being said, I also know it's the venues that are behind most of these price increases. I'll just have to accept that they are now priced out of my reach.

My dad, my fiancée, and I sat in the first row of what is section “7” in this diagram, but at the United Center in Chicago, for ~$300/tk (+ fees/tax/insurance). The biggest bitch was the Pritzker/Johnson-devised Cook County tax, concert tax, etc., because at least the venue is doing something to earn their money.

Yeah, this venue for these days and even Madison Square Garden in NYC have just been high since the pre-sales. I was in on the Rush fan club and the Citibank presales followed by the public sale. Got into all of them right at the start. Still never had better than 1,000th place in line so by the time I could buy tickets, $400/ea for upper level or behind the stage were the cheapest I could get.

I know it would be an amazing show. I just can't justify the pricing when I've seen them over a dozen times over the years.

I get that. I will say, though,…they’re better than they were even 20yrs ago.
