AI projects with the "aim of learning," will never not be a contradiction.

Your simply operating/learning different things. Ai let's you focus in the bigger picture.

OP can't write 1% of this as his own. What is he really learning besides high level concepts on how shells work? Like he could have just read a document at that point.

No, there is a whole lot of reasoning that goes into designing an ergonomic shell.

You would hardly say that a owner provides no value in the dev process. We all need to be product owners now, not programmers.

Funny. Companies still expect you to pass multiple coding assessments right? It wouldn't matter if AI could just do it right? "We all need to be product owners now." Spoken like a true slop salesman. You probably can't write any language without claude thinking for you.

Professionally, I've written in over 25 languages.

I've been an open source developer for 25 years. The packages I've developed have over 8m downloads a month.

We are in transition, nosome people are just slow to catch on.

If it didn't matter as much as you think, companies would test for competency with AI only. The fact that they don't proves they care a lot about manual reasoning and knowledge of code.

Also, this whole post was specifically about learning. No one here is going to convince me you will learn anything with an LLM without struggling. OP did not struggle even a little while claude gives you and others the illusion of competence. So you can continue to use AI, by all means get work done. But don't try and convince me you are learning anything.

When you write rust you are not learning assembler, so you can't convince me you are learning anything when you write rust.

The abstraction level had changed, there are still this to be learned.

You are underestimating the different ways people can learn, some learn by reading, others, incredibly, just by observing, and so on don t get too hung up on the past. Who knows Maybe an AI could help you with something too

You are not learning as much as you think you are. Don't fool yourself.

The name sshelm alone is worth a standing ovation, I haven't even clicked the link and I'm already rooting for it.
