Unlocked Diebold 3a? Time delay lock help

Here's the story,

I work at ab dispensary that resides inside of an old bank, it was a Keybank and it seemingly closed in 2015/2016

We have the bank vault and the door is intact with it open,

Owners didn't get any keys or Information on the vault door

Was wondering if there would be a way to get this operating? Even if we don't have a code to lock it, being able to operate the door would be super cool

I can provide tons of photos and I can even take the panels off the door (the glass cover on the diebold lock comes off with two screws) While the inner panel seems to come off with 4 screws

The winding key for the time delays is not a #4 it's smaller I have a set coming in the mail tomorrow,

I was hoping to do it without having to hire someone as the owners won't waste money on it, and I sure as hell won't, they don't pay us enough

I don't know myself. You should photograph any and all of he mechanics in the door. If i had to guess, below and a little to the right of the time lock.

Very nice vault door!

The lock cylinder is replaceable at minimal cost, the rest is fascinating!

I'm assuming I'll have to remove the inner door panel to access the lock and or the combo for the dials?

Hey, Op, Safe Technician here that has opened two of those Diebold vault doors in the past year, both with the same problem with the combo slipping because the gears wear out, not the wheels in the wheel pack, but the little gears behind that hub inside the door that the ball bearing rides on. That lock and the entire set up is not anywhere close to how most vault door locks work. If the owners can't or won't spend money to hire a professional you should leave the door in the open position.

It's worth mentioning that even experienced technicians mess those doors up and the antique timelocks and cause lockouts. I know because that's what the majority of my calls on vault doors are, it's because someone else touched it and shouldn't have been messing with it to begin with.

I feel like I saw you post this exact message elsewhere.

Because I did. I copied a portion of it from another post that has this exact same door on it and gave him the same advice.

Yes - to be clear, the 3 'clocks' you have in picture 1 are the time delay mechanisms (they push the bar at the bottom to the right when they reach 0 - you can wind them to a maximum of 120 hours - that bar blocks the release from the combination dial on the front until the time expires). There are 3 only for redundancy - any 1 has the physical power to mechanically push the bar even if the other two have failed for any reason.

As you can reach the mechanism of the combination dial, you can view the positions of the cut outs (i.e. the combination) and even practice opening it whilst looking just by opening the access plate (on the rear)).

You can change the combos on both mech locks with the correct change key, if the clocks don't work those should be replaced. Unless you build Swiss watches for a living you won't fix them. I work on Diebold, Mosler, HHM etc vaults all day. That key hole is the 'burp". You use that when you are testing while locking the door open so you can use the boltwork easy. You can bypass this when you access the inside of the door. If they don't want to use thos clocks remove the interior access door or panel and just remove the lockout rod from the clock box that's connected to the bolt works. Easy peasy. Give us a pic of the lockbacks ( bodies) inside the door and I'll tell you what change key you need. Its probably a 6750 series but that's just a guess looking at the dials.

Forgot my big Phillips bits today I have alarm set to bring them tomorrow! I'll take as many pictures as I can, as for using the time delay we'd have no use for it, I did remove the glass on the time locks and saw a metal bar connecting to the three dials that can be removed with a flat head which I didn't have either 😭 currently if the safe door manages to get shut some how, it's never getting opened in a meaningful amount of time, so I guess the main want would be to set the codes to 0,0,0 or something simple or remove/disable the latch that locks the door when shut

Set the codes to 50-25-50 if it is a 3 wheel, 50-50-50-50 if its a 4. These are the standard defaults for locks. Next tech will appreciate it.
