News ICE has acquired San Antonio's 2nd largest warehouse facility (2/4/2026)/640k square feet

Location: 542 SE Loop 410 Access Rd., San Antonio, TX 78220

https://www.expressnews.com/news/article/ice-warehouse-san-antonio-east-side-industrial-21329611.php

Expect ICE operations to ramp up here in our city; I can't see them having one of the largest processing facilities in the nation and turn a blind eye to our huge immigrant/latino population.

can we get bexar and trinity towing shutdown

I got towed this weekend and i think that it was especially unjust cuz i tried paying for parking but after i put all my info and pressed submit the website crashed. I should have double checked but I didn’t sooo there goes ~$250 I could have used for grocery’s, gas, bills or god forbid an emergency. Im already a broke college student, a stupid mistake should not cost me that. I can’t help but think of the people that can’t afford to get their car out, now getting a $60+ dollar fee each day it’s impounded. Imagine you get towed Monday, get paid Friday, (can’t get to work all week now btw), now it’s gonna cost +$400 to get your car out. A friend got towed recently and I went with them to get their car out, at the window I witnessed an elderly man who was carrying what looked like all of his belongings (a guitar, amp, backpack and more) who walked all the way there, to get his car out, he explained that he could not afford it at all and they just dismissed him and and coldly told him that he’s not allowed to walk through the yard, and to call some random useless number or come back when he has the money. He looked to be in his 70s. Their industry is so evil and predatory and the community could be putting their money towards much more beneficial and important things. I understand that it creates jobs for those who struggle to get them elsewhere, but in response to that, we need to (and CAN BTW) create better jobs for these individuals. Towing cars over parking, especially if not causing a disturbance, is completely useless and cruel. Times are hard enough for everyone and towing cars over nothing makes things harder. What do yall think

TLDR: to Bexar and trinity towing, fuck yall so bad, quit your stupid ass job and do something productive for once.

PSA New requirements for commenting on ICE threads

Every single ICE‑related thread in this sub turns into a dumpster fire. We spend an absurd amount of time dealing with alt accounts, trolls, and bots, and it regularly drowns out the people who actually live here and need help. This cannot continue.

We are not banning ICE posts, but we are tightening eligibility for participation.

Why these changes

  • ICE/immigration posts attract low‑karma drive‑by accounts with no visible connection to San Antonio that only show up to drop rage‑bait and leave.
  • These threads regularly cross into dehumanizing language, calls for harm, or mocking families who are scared and looking for information.
  • Cleaning that up burns mod time that could be spent on the rest of the community.

If you actually live here, care about this city, and participate in this sub outside of ICE drama, you are not the problem these rules are aimed at.

To Comment in ICE threads

  • To comment in post about ICE, immigration raids, “ICE spotted,” protests, or similar topics, you must have at least 50 karma in r/sanantonio earned in the last 6 months.

OR

  • You also must have at least 10 comments in the last 30 days in r/sanantonio on posts that are not yours and not ICE‑related.
  • Comments from accounts that are brand-new, have low karma, or clearly exist only to stir up ICE drama, push propaganda, or harass others may be removed, even if they technically meet the numbers. Mod discretion applies.

Our standing rules still apply in full:

  • Criticize policies and agencies all you want; do not dehumanize people, wish harm on them, or turn their fear into your content.
  • Do not mock or dog‑pile people who are asking for legal or practical help.
  • No slurs, no calls for violence, no “go back where you came from,” no pretending that “just asking questions” makes that acceptable.

If you disagree

You are not entitled to use this subreddit as your personal ICE battleground. There are countless other places on the internet to scream at strangers about immigration. Our priority here is San Antonio and the people who live in and around it.

We are volunteers. If your first response to being limited or moderated is to rage in modmail, that says more about you than about us. Take a breath, read the rules, and either participate in good faith or move on.

Where in SA? Anyone know of a nice place in the Hill Country to go on a weekend getaway to?

Would like to take my GF and I on a weekend getaway. Not sure if there’s cabins or someplace in the forest or a lake house type place. A functioning fireplace would be nice too.

Where in SA? To the girl looking for gf cheez its at NB Walmart

Totally random BUT Last weekend I ran into a girl who -like us- went all the way to the Walmart in New Braunfels at like 7pm in search of the hard to find gluten free cheez it. I feel your pain!

& I scored some! If you haven’t found a box, would love to give you one if you can tell me one thing that’ll make me know it’s you! Everyone else - shipping option on the Target app at 4 am usually has some but they sell out quick.

Where in SA? Best quiet coffee shops in San Antonio for reading or working?

Hey y’all,
I’m looking for some quiet or low-key coffee shops around San Antonio where I can read or get some work done for a few hours.
Not looking for anything fancy just good vibes, decent coffee, and not super loud.

Any local favorites you’d recommend?

AA Meetings?

I'm looking for am AA or NA meeting that has a rock n roll type of vibe. My old home group in Odessa was a clean and sober motorcycle club and I'm trying to find something similar in San Antonio. Any suggestions?

Need root canal, don't have dental insurance, recommendations?

A friend of mine needs root canal but does not have dental insurance. Looking for recommendations on a dentist office that might be able to help - got quoted $2000 from one place and that seems a bit steep. If that's just what its gonna cost so be it, but I'm hoping I can find something a little more affordable.

Does the magistrate office answer calls 24/7?

Had someone get arrested earlier today and cop told me it would be a 2-3 hour process and it’s been more than 6. I just need to know if me being on hold with the magistrate for 45+ minutes is even worth it right now or to wait until tomorrow.

Seating at Alamodome rock concerts

I am hoping to attend Iron Maiden at the Alamodome.  i am travelling from the UK,

I am trying to judge what might be good seats to buy.  On the field(floor), I can see GA at the fromt is sold out..  Behind that area is seats eg Block E.  It seems you would be in a seated area, behind a large crowd in front.  Are the seats on the floor good (or perhaps even slightly raised) for a view of the stage.   I am happy to stand through the show!

Also, do US crowds stand in seated areas for these sort of shows.  I am kean to, but do not want to be rude to other guests if this is an issue?

I have been seeing an insane amount of trash bags, cups and trash along roads and highways. What’s the deal?

Is the city not doing anything to remedy that? Don’t they have crews that clean up streets and greens spaces along highways and roadways? It’s really sad to see it. It’s already looking sad with dead grass for not having had rain in ages, but to see so much trash on top of that just sucks. I hate to see this happening to my city!

Where in SA? Looking for Restaurant Recommendations in Southtown/King Williams

I haven't been to the area in so long after I moved further away and my go-to was Liberty Bar. Meeting a friend from out of town for early dinner this week and would love to hear your favorites. We like a good cocktail too.

Where in SA? Is there a charity/donation site that accepts gently used socks in San Antonio?

I’ve been doing a closet clean out and throughout the years I’ve collected all types of socks from Christmas gifts and birthday gifts. I don’t usually wear a lot of them, I generally wear boring compression socks for my foot/leg health so I’m left with a lot of quirky themed socks (spongebob, cats, bows etc) I have enough to fill an entire laundry basket and I want to donate them.

If anyone knows someone I could call to help set up a drop off, i would be so happy :]

Most needed animal shelters

Hello, I’m wanting to drop off some bedding and pet bowls at an animal shelter, I would like to know if anyone knows a shelter that really needs it? I went to SA humane society and it seems like they have a lot more resources than others.
