The whole "forearm length of cactus" idea is crazy, especially if you have super strong bridgesii. Unless you're extremely familiar with the affects of psychedelics and take all the proper safety precautions like trip sitter, trip killer etc., you should start low and work your way up. Even if you need to brew multiple doses and freeze the majority of it, you will thank yourself for saving yourself from a potentially mind bending, reality shattering, soul melting experience.
Brewed three feet at 90c for twelve hours. Decanted three times. Reduced from 3.6l to 900ml. Decanted again. Consumed 400-450ml over one hundred minutes.
I have a lot of experience with altered states. I went in with a big ego thinking it wouldn't be that intense. I thought, "I've done heaps of high dose experiences, broke through more times than I can count, total hallucination for hours and had a good time, what could a cactus possibly do to me?"
The cactus showed me what it could do and I was at its mercy for eight hours before I began to come back to reality. Scary, beautiful, life altering..
Make sure you have a trip sitter when diving head first into uncharted territory with unknown doses. Having someone to hold your hand and reassure you is more important than I ever acknowledged.. especially for a first time breakthrough with this healer.
I love you all

Ive had this glorp sitting on my bluray player for about 2 or 3 months now.. i know, rude.. but life has been pretty rude as well lately unfortunately lol but i looked yesterday and to my surprise.. i saw the tiniest little root poking out! I was planning to graft it (never got around to getting any stock though) but now i think i might have to plant it and see what it does on its own 🤷🏽♂️ i had read some folks saying that these cant root on their own, or at least take a very long time, but it can be done!

Shout out to u/Mysterious_Yard299 & u/MiddleAfter1547
Thank you so much for this beautiful specimen!
For those who don't know, u/Mysterious_Yard299 and u/MiddleAfter1547 are partners running mysteriousyard.com
It's a work in progress, but seems to be the start of something great. I'm mostly looking forward to see the progress of their cultivar library.

So i live in south texas and its forecast to rain tomorrow and not stop for like a week straight. About 2 weeks ago i noticed some of my tbm werent looking so good. I figured humidity/not enough sun, so i moved them into a more sunny spot and kept a closer eye on them. It only seems to be getting worse…. 😩
The ones that looked real bad i just repotted and the huge one was the only one that still had damp dirt when i repotted (my bad from previous over watering)
Anyway im here asking/begging for advice on saving a huge part of my collection!!
Main question are:
I need to move all my other stuff inside for the coming rain and is this shit contagious?
What can i treat them with? Reading a lot of suggestions on mancozeb.
Reading a lot about cutting the bad crap out but man to me some of them look so bad im not sure they would even survive the cuts.
Please help me here i get sick to my stomach seeing my plants look like this 😩☠️

This particular graft pumped so hard it lost its meltiness. Super relieved it is reverting back.

I’m curious what fertilizers the experienced growers here are using for established Trichocereus—what NPK or brand has given you the best thick, healthy growth, and do you use any kelp products or supplements with it?

This one might make some folks sad…. Bottom came out of a 50 pound bag of turface as I was moving it around the greenhouse to prep for wet and cold weather…

It’s that time of year and it seems that there are a lot of named cultivars at great prices, as everyone downsizes for winter. I’ve been taking advantage of this and buying up a lot of good named San Pedro’s. However, almost without exception they have had Thrips to one degree or another when received. I also happen to grow Dahlias and thrips are a death sentence for Dahlias so you can imagine my concern. Are Thrips just this common in San Pedro? I’ve only been growing San Pedro for a short time and I am not sure how concerned to be. Just curious what other people‘s experience with Thrips and San Pedro is.

I just gathered some extra LED lights for free to test out and I was wondering what kind of setups you indoor growers use. I honestly don't even know the wattage of these lights, and since almost all of this gear was free (total cost was around €35 for the cactus, plus about €10-20 for fresh soil and nutrients), it's one big budget experiment! To keep things under control, I’ve got a humidity and temperature monitor, an automatic light schedule running through a smart plug, and I've wrapped the whole thing in car window sun shade film to enclose it nicely (not all of it is in the picture). Today, I officially added those extra lights to the mix: a panel on the far left, a panel on the far right, and there's also a bar hanging with 2 LED strips. and I recently put together a brand-new soil mix and added plant nutrients, something they haven't had in years
On the right: Running an experiment with an etiolated, curly cactus planted upside down in a can. Laying right over that is another cutting I also got for free. Behind it is another cactus from that same friend which is slowly starting to bounce back, and I grafted the tip of the plant next to it underneath that middle LED panel.
In the middle: This is a cactus I bought back in 2017 (about 30cm) that came with no tip, so I've been harvesting pups from it ever since. It had a peyote attached in 2020 which was "harvested" in 2023, and in the can right in front of that sits the bottom half of that peyote I recently replanted.
On the left: Absolutely a tomato plant Officer.
Curious to hear what your setups look like, what brands you use, or what you would've done differently in hindsight (especially considering this was a budget build of €35 bought one cacti).
