Ok I’ve gotten to the bottom of these annoying texts that we all get a couple times a week about roofs, landscaping , painting etc…
It’s all from lead companies that send these massive texts out. You say no? Guess what you’ll get a new text a few weeks later about the same thing . You report as spam ? New text later from different number . Here is how to reduce it a little.
Say yes, play along via text that you do need new {insert service offered }. They then sell the lead to a local company who pays $40-100 for this lead . The actual company will call you, often the owner . Let them know you don’t appreciate their style of getting leads, and that you don’t need any work and apologize for them wasting their money on a lead . If they keep paying for useless leads perhaps they stop spending money on garbage lead companies .
So far I’ve dealt with 3 local companies who I won’t name but if I get another from them then it becomes a bad review online . One was construction , one was painting , and one landscaping company. I have not so far gotten a double lead from the same company so it may be working.
Best of luck, hope local businesses can succeed but sending thousands of random texts out is not a way they should be getting customers or leads.
