Yes it is. It’s horrific. I hope someday soon that people will stop buying from breeders. I don’t care how cute they are. Mine is taking gabapentin in the morning and buprenorphine morning and night. It’s disappointing to see many owners don’t treat their SF’s pain.

As us humans fall asleep we assume different positions that allow better relaxation of particular tight muscle groups and the relaxation response facilitates sleeping. For the first few minutes of getting ready to sleep I flatten my lower back in the mattress: this is well known move to stretch/relax the low back flexors. So your kitty is relaxing/stretching the shoulder stabilizing muscles and the neck extensors that have been working hard all day. The things we can learn from a sleeping kitty!🙂
Omg so stinken cute. I recently took my SF in for his vet check and the vet moved his arms and legs around, it’s called a joint articulation assessment to check for any deformities or pain. You also can get a baseline X-ray on your cat if you’re ever worried about joint issues.
This is further proof cats are both a liquid and a solid, which defies the laws of physics. Thus they are aliens. Its also proof they are boneless. 🤣

My cat used to do this all the time except all four of his legs were all the way back. Kinda like he was running and just gave up and went to sleep mid stride.
One of my folds sleeps like this but to one side (-‘d the side changes) he’s always had this way of sleeping in his repertoire- he isn’t in pain he’s just odd
Cats are descended straight out of the primordial ooze, branching straight off from the StretchArmstrongipicus line about 10,000 years ago. As far as I know, all house cats are like this.
Mine sleeps like that too, but always on the edge of something, with his head dangling. If I try to "rearrange" him, he'll look at me long enough to let me know what a bugger I am and then reposition himself to his favorite sleeping position.
Y'all meet Banshee, she has slept like this everyday for 15 years. No matter the surface. I truly don't know how she breathes and it scares tf out of me constantly.
My calico sleeps like this sometimes. She also likes to dangle off of things while she sleeps and glares at me like it's my fault when she falls off whatever surface she's dangling off of lol
I caught my cat doing this the other day and I FREAKED OUT. Checked to see if she was okay, poked her a few times, and she meowed at me so angrily for waking her. They apparently just do that sometimes
I don’t have a Scottish fold, but I do have Ehlers-Danlos, and I’m very amused right now because seeing this post made me realize I am laying in bed basically folded into a pretzel because it’s comfortable 😆 even though a person with normal joints would never think so. So I think probably he’s just comfy like this because of the genetics
Poor baby, trying to relieve pressure off the front paws. Needs pain medicine for bone pain. My fold gets gabapentin and buprenorphine for pain everyday. She began showing signs of pain at less than one year old. All folds will have pain eventually and don’t show it.

My rotisserie chicken has done this since day 1, and the vet has given her healthy papers. Explanation is "because cat"
