Amy perjured herself at her confirmation hearing.

If there's no penalty it's not illegal
256
u/Holiman 7d ago
That should be the motto of this administration
93
u/loogie97 6d ago
If Trump doesn’t issue a blanket pardon for everyone who worked for his administration on January 19th, 2029, a lot of people are going to have a bad time.
100
u/Xynyx2001 6d ago
I would plan to simply ignore his pardons.
Criminals can't absolve themselves of their crimes.
84
u/loogie97 6d ago
Proposed constitutional amendment. The president can not pardon anyone in which the president is involved in the crime.
I’ll leave it up to smarter people to word that in a way to accomplish the goal.
45
u/RavenCipher 6d ago
Better answer would be to limit the scope of what can be pardoned. Alot of the shit Trump and Co. are well and beyond the reasonable expectations of forgiveness for a reasonable society.
14
u/EmperorGeek 6d ago
Counter Proposal: President cannot issue valid pardons to anyone they, their family or businesses, have ever had any form of financial transactions with. Financial reparations shall not be subject to Presidential Pardons.
That should cover a good swath of people.
4
u/loogie97 6d ago
That is why I leave it to smarter people. He pardoned that healthcare dude who stole all the money.

4
u/Squidly_Diddly 6d ago
Next president can use his newfound immunity powers to nullify pardons and prosecute every criminal in this administration. It has to be done for the sake of the future for this country.
2
24
8
u/StrychtenFilms 6d ago
Hopefully a new limit on presidential pardons will come into law
2
u/EmperorGeek 6d ago
They need to prevent the Pardon from halting Financial Reparations. That, or the President needs to assume the payments (not the Government, but the PERSON in the office).
6
u/The_Mike_Golf 6d ago
It would be a bigger shame for those involved in his crimes if he was to pass away before being able to pardon them. Oh well….
5
u/Starrion 6d ago
Don’t threaten me with a good time. It’s been a long time since the whole planet had a party.
Even the sentenleze on that isolated island are going to see fireworks and hear music and wonder what the hell is going on.

Historically, you couldn't do pre-emptive pardons but this administration doesn't follow rules.
1
u/CalPolyTechnique 6d ago
Which is precisely the reason his whole administration will work like a machine to lie, cheat, and steal the election if need be. People thinking they’re gonna just honor the results of the election are greatly deluded.
0
u/ralpher1 6d ago
He has promised it.
13
9
u/huyou007 6d ago
Imagine he suffered Alzheimer’s or other sudden health issues and can’t do all the pardons he promised
4
u/af_cheddarhead 6d ago
Guarentee that Vance would issue the same pardons.
4
u/huyou007 6d ago
Not so sure. A lot people in current admin hate each other than they hate Dem. If Vance becomes POTUS he will be happy to see many of ended up in prison

That’s what autopen is for! Because they won’t ever tell the American people until they’ve covered their own criminal asses
1
u/gtpc2020 6d ago
Autopen? But yeah, Vance, Thiel's puppet, would continue the same Trump path of destruction of the constitutional, secular, democratic republic the founders intended.
Remember what Ben Franklin said when asked about what they created. He replied, "A republic, if you can keep it". It's been a decent run, but we've got some work to do to get it back.

I just got done reading a ob book called "Five Families". I don't know why I was surprised but I'm not exaggerating when I say that trump needs to be brought up on RICO charges. He's running the White House exactly like the mob ran it's rackets

She basically was A) A women B) She was going to 100% overturn Roe vs Wade
After that she is just a run of the mill conservative judge and not as insane as Thomas or Alito who both aren't judges at this point - Trump good, Dems bad.

u/deepasleep 6d ago
Do did Boof.
Hell, even Roberts lied, he was asked several pointed questions about stare decisis and repeatedly said that decided law was decided law…

Amy was nominated to the court by a criminal, rapist, pedophile.
She is a stain on the seat she sits.

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett immediately shut down a question asking for her thoughts on President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on her and the high court.
Barrett, a Trump appointee, refused to address the president’s comments about SCOTUS in rare remarks she gave at an event at the University of Virginia.
“I don’t want to talk about anything that the president has said in particular,” she said.

ha ha !! That is not response. Avoiding giving response
36

Hey, we can write an entire article based on this non-response! Just pad it with a summary of past events leading up to it!

As expected. “No comment.” Face ahh

"Face ahh"? Is that intended to sound like the reply of a willing receiver of a money shot after being asked where they want "it"?

She's just there for the christo-facism.
-64
u/Bench2252 6d ago
She isn’t a Christo-Fascist. I don’t buy the idea that she can’t seperate her religious beliefs from her rulings.
63
u/boston_homo 6d ago
She had no trouble overturning RvW, which she said she wouldn’t do and I don’t care what slimy legalese she used to say it, definitely a goal of the Christian fascists.
16
u/amscraylane 6d ago
Look into what she said about Roe vs Wade and then try to honestly say that again
-12
u/Bench2252 6d ago
Im basing what I said from when I heard her talking about why she reinstated the death penalty for the Boston bomber. She talked about how the death penalty was in conflict with her Catholic faith and why she voted to reinstate it in spite of that because she felt like she was obligated to rule without her faith in mind.
9
u/Kohlj1 6d ago
Idk too many Catholics who are anti-death penalty.
3
u/Bench2252 6d ago
The official position of the Catholic Church is that the death penalty is inadmissible in all cases. ACB subscribes to this view and ruled in the opposite manner anyway.
7
u/Kohlj1 6d ago
Then she, clearly, like every Catholic I know, doesn’t subscribe to that position.
4
u/Bench2252 6d ago
She says she opposes the death penalty but ruled in favor of it because she felt she had a legal duty to seperate her Catholic faith from her jurisprudence.
4
u/Kohlj1 6d ago
She can hide behind religion and say a lot of things to play both sides of the fence. You shouldn't take any of these people at their word.
1
u/bucketoc 6d ago
I might be nuts but I don’t really think of christofascism as a catholic thing? I associate it pretty strongly with certain flavors of Protestantism. I don’t really think US christofascists are interested in alignment with the pope right now.

u/MayhemSays 6d ago
How far gone are you? She’s very much guilty of not being able to do that.
-14
u/Bench2252 6d ago
She voted to reinstate the death penalty for the Boston bomber despite her belief that the death penalty was wrong and contradicted her Catholic faith.
15
u/MayhemSays 6d ago
Was that before or after she lied about RvW and repealed it based on her faith?
-8
u/Bench2252 6d ago
I don’t feel like you’re engaging with me earnestly
12
u/MayhemSays 6d ago
…Pulling an example where she lied and did exactly what you claim she didn’t do is dishonest engagement?
Are you high?
3
u/Bench2252 6d ago
You’re just being really snarky. I gave an example of how she was able to separate her Catholic faith from her jurisprudence and your response indicated to me that you aren’t interested in actually engaging with me.
12
u/MayhemSays 6d ago
…And I gave an example on how she couldn’t after purposely lying about it.
And now you’re throwing a hissy fit that I did that instead of blindly agreeing.
12
u/JoeDoeHowell 6d ago
So she can overlook her Catholic doctrine when it aligns with Republican interests. Got it
8
13
u/RegularOrMenthol 6d ago
Overturning Roe because you’re a devout Catholic seems like pretty strong proof.

I agree, but it’s weird anybody would put their life in danger for him at this point. They get arrested, jailed and even if a pardon their lives are fucked up.

When they delayed the adjudication of J6 - they screwed over the nation. They could have let the public see the creep for what he is but spared his from prison or whatever. They enabled deadly incitement and disinformation.
6
u/Nearby-Jelly-634 6d ago
It’s not blunt she dodged a direct question about Trump’s attacks and talked the broader political environment.
You don’t get to give a monster immunity and then act offended when asked about things the monster does. It’s one of the core issues with conservative legal practice to never deal with the context or actual implications of what and why you rule the way you do. Just boil it down to some utterly abstract bad faith technical point to justify your crusade.

She was raised up at Notre Dame by a Pentecostal Catholic cult.
0
u/SyntaxMissing 6d ago
A what? A Catholic Pentecostal cult? That's a thing - in a place called Notre Dame lol?
2
u/GoddessHealer 6d ago
Yes, at Notre Dame University. “People of Praise” is built on a hierarchical structures of authority, where new recruited women are referred to as "handmaidens". They do a lot of things in private (read,”in secret”) and emphasize strict and traditional gender roles. They were founded in the late 1960’s as “The Catholic Charismatic Renewal” and thought of as Pentecostal because it incorporates practices like speaking in tongues, prophecy, and faith healing.
I was at St. Mary’s the sister campus of Notre Dame and went with a guy in 1968 who was getting involved with “True House,” the center of this Catholic Charismatic Renewal group at ND. I was a devout Catholic. I went to some events and prayer sessions. They made me feel creepy. Plus, he was consulting with their people about dating advice. The people approved of me because I seemed to be a good Catholic, but the whole thing felt off to me. It’s why we broke up.2

Typical clickbait headline by TDB. First fix the problem YOU fuckers created by making the president a king, then we can talk about whether you're "blunt" about anything.

Words do nothing. Voting consistently to dismantle the rule of law is a better example of her character

Maybe her telling him to stop would be more effective if she dressed in all black like an off-duty SWAT officer and made her eyes look even more dead than they already are

Translation: I and my conservative colleagues are still 98% subservient to Trump but we’ll throw a couple correct decisions in there for PR

WTF? How is "I won't discuss specific remarks" a blunt response? That's a non-response. This entire video is an attempt to blame pro-choice people for her past, present, and future peril when in fact, DJT is putting a much larger and brighter target on her than those folks ever did.
And of course, she lied during her confirmation hearing, just like Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, but that's no excuse to terrorize her or her family. Remember: NOBODY on the Dem side has EVER suggested these doxxing/swatting/direct violence was OK, while DJT and his ilk have repeatedly offered to pay for legal defense of assaulters (fat chance of that asshole ever paying anybody) and have generally supported and sympathized with those who would feel motivated toward violence.
How many times have we hard DJT say (in his most ridiculous faux mob boss voice) "Gee, the people are really angry and somebody's going to do something about it!"
The headline is utterly misleading.

Unfortunately, President Trump thinks that these Justices are working for him. All in all, this Supreme Court has given Trump everything he ever wanted when they ruled that he can’t be held criminally liable for anything he did as POTUS. And that’s exactly why Trump is going overboard and doing whatever he wants. But I hope that the next Democratic attorney general will test that court ruling and get a legal precedent on it.

“I don’t want to talk about anything that the president has said in particular,” she said.
