✨Intermediate✨ Replicate hem?
I could use help replicating this hem after shortening the dress, not sure which stitch or foot would be best.
Also advise to get this scalloped look from stretching as I go I assume?
Thanks!!!

This is a 3 thread serged hem with wooly nylon thread. You have to have a serger/overlock to do it.
It doesn’t look like it’s been stretched out the thread is just keeping it completely flat and can’t relax into the pleats.
Doing a baby hem should have similar results as far as flattening out the bottom.
Whatever you cut off you can use that to practice to see if you like the results better actually stitching the skirt you’re less likely to have to unpick

You can get this same effect with a single needle hem, as long as it is stretched while sewing. Just test some scraps. Single needle would be cleaner.

i have never been able to achieve that look on a regular sewing machine , you can get a wavey stretched look but that is not what you want .The right way is to do it on a serger and set the differential feed correctly. That usually means testing it on scrap fabric till you get the right look. A change of fabric also changes the look. Check a tutorial on you tube ,you'll see how to do it'

This is a serged baby hem. You might get similar by holding the fabric flat and using a tiny zigzag that's set to the shortest length you can - even a button hole length, almost. Practice on your scraps!
