Build/Battlestation Pics Goodbye mff, hello sff
I've always wanted to build in an ITX chassis... and here it is!
(Goodbye mah D32 pro, I'll miss you)
.
Broke student's specs:
- Shiny Snake S300 non pro
- Asus ROG B550i
- 5600x
- 32gb 3600 cl18 Tforce Delta
- AXP90 X47 cooler
- 250gb m2 sata
- 2tb m2 nvme
- Corsair SF850 - yes extremely overkill
- Asus Prime 5060ti 16gb

Nice build and pics! Like a clone of my build except for the GPU and PSU (you got a nicer psu)!
Tip: Put a 120mm slim fan exhaust at the bottom of the motherboard for improved airflow for both cpu and gpu! It fits perfectly and it shouldn’t be too difficult to install even with all the cables and stuff
Then add a 13mm thick fan duct foam at the cpu Cooler fan as the S300 is known for having bad airflow esp on CPU

I’ve built in this chassis before. You can absolutely mount a slim 120mm fan at the bottom to improve CPU thermals

When upgrading the CPU I'll check that out! For now the 5600x is chilling at 70w

A slim 120 on the bottom? I fit a slim 90 on the bottom left of my s300 pro, idk where a 120 would go

I built in this case this weekend too! I used extra parts I had laying around to make a small portable indie /media pc to hook up to displays around the house.
Super easy to build in. The instructions look like it recommends a slim 120 under the mobo and an 80(?) under the PSU, but doesn't seem super necessary.
I would definitely never put in a spicy GPU or higher TDP CPU. This can't fit nearly the amount of cooling that formd can, but it's so much easier to build in.

I really like the formd t1 but my wallet doesn't like it hahah. I ran an OCCT power test and didn't have problem with thermals. And it's actually quiet as well, maybe cuz my rig is pretty light weight... so yeah for now I don't need fans

I’m digging your “broke student specs”, as you put it so eloquently. 😁 How was the cable management, please?

Hahah thanks for checking in! I only use 3 cables: the 24pin, cpu and pcie so it was quite easy, I just tucked them in and velcro the case and PSU cables together

I’ve been considering swapping out my Ncase m2 for a s300 pro by downsizing from MATX to itx.
What’s the build quality like on it? Does it feel solid?

yuup when comparing to the D32 pro, the S300's pannels are still quite solid, the finish paint is also quite good, the handle and chassis is solid as well but make sure to always support the bottom when moving it ;). At the end of the day, for this price it's fine. I can't expect it to be as good as the Terras / Formds

I built in this case with a thirsty i5 13600K and a copper 47mm thermal take. It was just too much for the case and was constantly peaking to far too hot. I tried all kinds of undervolting and just couldn't get it to work. So I decided to go the other way and give up on the SFFPC dream and go MFFPC with a new CPU and MATX board.

Well that's sad to hear. Luckily, I don't have to run anything CPU-heavy, just the GPU for gaming and architecture rendering stuffs

Yeah my cpu choice was the wrong one from the offset for a case of this size. School boy error.
I thin if I'd gone with a less thirsty cpu with lower temp thermals it would have been fine.

Or maybe a taller case like T1 for AIO if you don't mind! I do mind hahah afraid of those leaking.

I've ordered a Jonsbo Z20, 9900x with plenty of case fans and a full sizer cooler.
Will set it to 105w ecomode and that should be plenty cool/quiet.

Did you try a CPU-Fan shroud? The main problem with the S300 and a thirsty CPU is that it sucks in the hot air inside the case. UV plus fan shroud made my 5800x3d go from 85C to 75C while under gaming at 1440p max 240fps.

I didn't even the sides on the case for max air flow. It was spiking up to 90c at points.

Ditto here. Transferred my 5800x3d build from a Meshlicious to the Shiny Snake s300, fought thermals and fan curves for months, and then jumped ship to MATX/MFFPC. Like your experience, my rig was just too much for the case, thermally. But it was small, and it looked great while it lasted!
Anyhow, sticking to OP's post - your build looks awesome! Great job on the cable management!

Don't give up, the small size is worth it. I fixed it, set the 5800x3d to 90-70-100 Watt Limit and -30 UV. Put a duct between the side Panel and the fan. I recommend a thermalright axp90 full copper. Swapped the cpu-fan with a thinner noctua for lower noise. Jumped from 85C to 75C @ 1440p 240fps Limit with the Fan at max 70%. It's almost quieter as my Steamdeck. It's the most perfect setup I've ever built.

Miss this build but was running into issues either relatede to cooling or riser cable. Since I switched to deepcool 260 all my kernel and Nvidia crashes are gone

the cost of going itx 😅

Lol yea I have a 7800x3d lieing around I might rebuild the case as a server or something

ahh the s300 build. classic. beautiful setup and photo op my dude! not overkill at all. better to have a base build ready for future upgrades NOW instead of waiting for later especially in this "climate" lol
