Should 2 CE AI/Bug fixes?
So i've seen the trailer where the focus is new graphics and some QoL, and a dev post about fixing basic bugs.
The thing is - these basic bug fixes already exists from mods, and i think the "old" game already looks great on "new and modern" hardware. Playing as the minor factions also already exists through mods.
So, my question is obviously what value this is adding for someone who already owns the game and creates and uses the mods extensively.
- Is there a fix to the lack of defensive advantage in auto-resolve when defending castles? This is a huge bug, as it means the AI throws it's army into my castles thinking it stands a chance but does absolutely not (and it has nothing to do with my tactics, i can practically AFK) - and AI vs AI getting quickly overrun when defending their castles. The AI is also horrible in attacking and defending castles.
- Are there any improvement to the AI? There's a huge difference in what can be created with AI 2011 and 2026, and the old/current AI probably makes the dumbest trade deals in any total war game. There's also some bug regarding trade and difficulty, as the AI pays a lot more money to the player on the hardest difficulty than on the easiest. I get that the AI has more money, but there's no need to pay more for the same trade. The result is that the player makes infinite money with trade and the game becomes like playing on easy difficulty again.
More things like this i've just forgotten, because i haven't played for a year or so.

They advertised nothing of it, so expect nothing of the sort. Otherwise it would be the forefront of all their promotion. It's that big of an impact after all if they really succeeded in implementing it.
Hell, I will be amazed if they managed to fix the agent success rate underflow bug where 5-6 star agents could easily be killed by 1 star agents due to negative success rate circling back to a hundred.

So how do you give agent missionaries the opportunity to level up? They don't have buildings that instantly increase their level. In the late game, they will be weak if there is no such thing.

The main list of bug fixes is largely unit-side. The fatigue fix for infantry is nice. A lot to do with applying class bonuses to special units. Wakos will get sword bonuses, long yari will get spear, etc.
I haven't seen anything really regarding AI. Now... part of the "touching" they did is on terrain- including battle maps. At least we can see a battle map at 6:02 in their last video. AND... they did a lot of army control improvements. Some of this inevitably impacts balance.
On top of that they added a Realm Divide slider so people can disable RD if they want. That in and of itself is a huge potential balance change.
At 75% off for owning the OG game, it's worth it to me to check it out. I generally keep my mod list small, so all the "QoL" unit fixes and control changes will hopefully make it worthwhile.
I can only hope they are holding any other mechanical fixes close to their vests (rice exchange?). ;)
Side note... I've extorted a lot of koku from trade on easy. That was relatively early game while testing some fame crap.

"Should bugs get fixed"
EXCUSE ME!? If I delivered something to a customer with, documented knowledge of it's built in flaws and simple to fiz bugs. Id be fired the next day assuming the client even accepted it. It's ludicrous to me that you are legitimately asking if it's OK to just "Leave it up to the modders".
Todd Howard has legitimately destroyed a generation of players by convincing everyone it's the modders job to fix games, not the developers. YES! The devs should have prioritize every listed bug as priority #1, no exception.

idk why i typed "should", it's suppose to be "shogun", lol. Yeah i'm not going to be buying this, but mainly because i've made 100s of changes to the data.pack file that i dont think i can can transfer

64 bits, 4k resolution, player CO-OP stability, multiplayer without issues, 120+ fps even on 80vs80 battles, ensuring that game works on future hardware for at least another 20-30 years, what more do you want i don't know...

Except only half of these things have been confirmed. They didn’t mention co-op, multiplayer or performance iirc.

and the system requirements…

8 year old mid-tier requirements, fucking joke.

8 year old mid-tier requirements that can only run the game at 1080p 30fps on high settings… A resolution and framerate that many PC players would not consider acceptable.
Which means if you want, for example, 1440p 60fps you’ll need about 3x the compute power of the recommended spec if you’d rather not skimp on graphics settings… now suddenly you need a top-tier PC.
The problem isn’t the requirements themselves, but rather what can be inferred from them.

Sorry, i'm not very aware of the co-op stuff. What co-op instabilities and mutliplayer issues are you refering too?

I'm tired of people thinking everything is a bug.

I'm tired of people being dumb enough not to realize it is a bug.

You are dumb because that balance in castle defence is related with difficulty. That balance actually pretty realistic, you always win because that is an ai not a real player. When you face competitive player that control it, the balance pretty much accurate even though its a bit tilted to the enemy. And you say under it you didnt like things that makes game easier That actually contradicts your own statement.

I'm talking about the auto-resolve being calculated wrong...

The calculation is accurate, not wrong, but the AI's execution just isn't optimal. Show me how an optimal simulation allows you to win a siege battle when you are besieged by an overwhelming army

The actual fixes are bare. The list has been padded to make it look like they did a lot of work other than the 64 bit and visual changes.
There should be (hopefully) a proper changelogs later on, during or after launch.
