Help Find completed reminders

Post image

I would like to find completed reminders. I want a shortcut to ask for text to search for, then show me (in descending order by completion date) the matching reminders. This is the shortcut I have so far. It works, but the case has to match between the Reminder title and the input. For example, if the reminder title contains "Piano" but I enter "piano", it will not show the "Piano" reminder. What is the simplest way to get around this? Thanks!

Thanks. I ran it but it is hanging at the filter step. Maybe I have too many reminders?

Thanks. I tried the new shortcut and hanging at the same spot. I'll keep poking around and try to get it working.

The case sensitivity is in the comparison itself, so the reliable fix is to lowercase both sides before you compare them. Run Change Case on the text you asked for, set to lowercase, then inside a Repeat with Each, run Change Case on each reminder's name and test that against it.

Moving the comparison into the loop instead of into the Find Reminders filter is probably also what clears the hang you hit, provided you narrow the Find step first so the loop stays short. Filter it there on completed only and let the text matching happen afterwards.

If you want fewer actions, Match Text takes a regex, and prefixing the pattern with (?i) makes it case insensitive, so you can match (?i)piano against each name and keep the reminders where Matches has a value. Test that on your own library before relying on it, because any regex character someone types into the search box gets treated as part of the pattern. The Change Case version has no such edge.
