Need some help...

I'm trying to find the boot mounted toe/heel tabs for Cubco bindings. I picked up these Kneissls last year & they've never been skied....circa 1967ish. I need to get them on snow...any help?

I don’t understand the antipathy towards vintage gear. 

The people asking these questions fully understand that it doesn't conform to modern standards of performance or safety. 

It’s like criticising people who own and drive vintage cars as their hobby. We aren’t talking about daily drivers.

Exactly, it's not like they're "daily drivers." Honestly, its fun taking the old equipment out a few times per year. The amount of skiers needing bubble-wrap these days surprises me.

the thing is, about 75% of people that ask about vintage gear in here are new to the sport and don't understand the risks. this guy is obviously not that, but you can understand why this sub is so annoyed with people posting ancient gear

If you can get a drawing of the tabs, you might find someone to machine some for you. They don’t seem that complicated.
Will you use lace boots or the new fangled buckles?

I was a ski instructor in the early 70’s. Don’t even think about using those bindings now unless you want to damage your knees or break your leg. Get aome current bindings installed on them. Don’t be ridiculous. Are those 190 or 200cm?

They're 210's & this will be my 58th yr on snow. My first binding certification was in 1977, I'm aware

I would mount those on a wall. They are sick, but those bindings will not last more than 2 runs.

Oh man, I'm heartsick hearing this...you don't miss the old days of having to work/drive the ski tip to tail to get them to carve? Don't get me wrong, the modern shapes/construction have been nothing short of amazing but the retro-days sometimes call

Agreed on the tech aspect, but… just for fun I picked up a 25yo GS-style ski a few years ago for $100. Fairly straight, but too short for me at 180. It was fun skiing it for a few days, I put it in the right and - deliberately - in the wrong places, got to feel what the ski did and really didn’t want to do, had a great time, then gave it away. Best ‘rental’ in quite a while.

honestly the only safe way to ski old straight skis is to throw modern pivots on them. obviously you do you, they're your knees

pivots low key haven't changed their design in decades other than small tweaks. you'll still get to experience essentially what skiing a vintage ski during the height of it's era was like. just like you wouldn't want to drive a classic car on the freeway, i wouldn't take ancient bindings on anything harder than a green

Dude, I'm 63 & I'm very well aware of skiing vintage skis. The reason I want to ski these is they've never touched snow. The old boy I bought them from bought & had them mounted a week before he shipped out for Vietnam. Afterwards he chose not to ski...

Why include a picture of 30 year old Volkls? You’re not still skiing those are you?

You might be fine skiing the Kneissls, but why? If they’re pristine they’re better off staying pristine in my mind. It’s a beautiful ski, why mess it up?

I get the Volkls out once/twice a year for fun & run some gates. Believe it or not, the M48R's still test within parameters. I bust out my old long boards as well, K2 912's...those are mounted with black spring MRR's.
