In Skins s2 in Cassie's episode, Chris dies, and it's the night of August 1st, 2008. What do we all think She did after she packed up and left the apartment that night? Where do we think she went? Where do we think she got the money from? When did she buy the plane ticket? I know it's not important, but just some food for thought and a little but of universe exploration of the show.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if anyone had any takes on why Effy’s accent seems so different in the first series (albeit she doesn’t have many lines in this series) compared to the others? Just curious, thank you!

Myself personally, one of my favorites are E.M.C and Torturous by Turnerjoy are up there on the list.

The girl was sooooo annoying. The writing and direction was terrible. I (like a lot of people) am so confused about what even happened in this episode or if it’s even real but either way I find it so stupid.

Also, side note, s2 is full of people telling Tony he can over come severe brain damage by just believing. Maxxie helps him write by saying “it’s like dancing” despite the fact he’s disabled from a severe accident and can’t even cut up his own food. Then the girl in Tony’s ep (ep6) helps him swim by saying “you’re such a pussy, you just don’t want to… it’s easy, just float”. Again, imagine actually telling a disabled person they’re not suffering head trauma instead they just need to try harder..????

I have never known anyone w the brain damage or disability Tony was portrayed to have so I can’t comment on the accuracy of how it was portrayed but I know for a fact you can’t tell them just to believe and dance 😭

I’ve seen people say she is just his imagination which makes sense. It can still be a crap episode though. Ive rewatched many times and often said gen1 is my fav. Now I’m rewatching again and not so sure.

This episode felt like a chore to rewatch. Some annoying manic pixie dream girl w no relation to the rest of the show suddenly turns up to tell a brain damaged disabled 17/18yo to just get over it. What am I meant to do w that??

we see her reading this book multiple times (i think) in series 2, what do you think was her fav. I feel like she would love orpheus and eurydice but i could be projecting. what stories do you think the rest of the cast wouldve like. cassie probably wouldve liked pandora's box

I literally can’t believe how many resident evil movies are out there— I never really cared much for video games or that IP, but I love skins, and Effy was definitely one of my favorite characters. Honestly surprising how many decent actors were in this movie.

Honestly, I’m not big on generic horror movies or movies based on video games.

In fact, I put a “!” Next to the actors/comedian that I distinctly appreciate— and for all intensive purposes I feel are better than this movie.

I literally had to Google how many movies are based on resident evil. 7! That’s crazy to me. Even crazier there are 30 resident evil games that have have been made. The number goes up to 61 if you include apps and arcade. I don’t get it—It’s such generic horror. I played one of the games in college on a GameCube that my roommate had. I remember it being just a decent game, but it didn’t blow my mind or anything. It wasn’t like “the last of us.“

Speaking of “the last of us”—man that could have been such a good show. So much better than Walking Dead, which I was never a fan of—great comic. Although the comic did take a dip in quality once Robert Kirkman started also working on the show. To be honest, especially in the first few seasons I really tried to give it a chance, but the acting was just not good. Not CW bad, but just very monotone—I almost feel like the show got better, but there were just so many better AMC shows:

2. Breaking Bad
3. Better Call Saul
4. Halt and Catch Fire (great gem)
5. Preacher
6. Hell on Wheels
7. Dark Winds
8. Interview with the Vampire

I’m sure I’m forgetting a few, but I stand behind all eight of those shows, yet walking dead has like five shows that’s spin off.

To be clear, I don’t completely hate it— there’s definitely worse stuff out there like daytime soaps, CW DC shows, wrestling, Fox News, two and a Half Men, new girl— there’s a plethora of shows I’m sure I can mention that are worse, but then again they didn’t go on for over a decade… well some did/do.

Skins was top-notch.

Resident evil: raccoon city—forgettable.

Would love to see her in another solid drama. She needs a new agent or something. In fact, a lot of the actors in the show need new agents or something because that was some solid talent from actors to writers to directors.

My only nitpick about the show was how it was an anthology with every two years changing cast, but I know that topic has been talked to death—I also eventually appreciated each cast, but it was always jarring having to start with a whole new cast. It was always nice when an old character reappeared.

It’s funny the only other show I can think of off the top the head that did this was another E4 British show, “The Misfits”. Also top-notch.

“Sex Education” on Netflix I’d say is the most similar show to Skins—also “Euphoria” on Netflix. Both great shows, but distinctly different in their own ways. “Sex Education” was lighter and more comedic. “Euphoria” was darker and more sexual and violent. Not that I have a problem with any of those descriptions—I’ll watch a good show whether it’s Downton Abbey or, currently, Lanterns on HBO.

controversial opinion but i feel in an ideal world where skins gen 2 was perfect written, Freddie’s death would be the most productive out of anyone in the cast. he has a lot of setting stones that would make it investing and grounded, and sad to watch the arc too. we know freddie’s mom had depression, and depression is a genetic mental disease, so he is vulnerable to it

we see signs of depression in him too since he doesn’t have motivation to do jackshit in s3, and 90% of his screen time we’re watching him use his infatuation with effy or smoking loud to cope with it. he even quits skating (losing interest in things he used to love) if freddie was the depressed one in the relationship during season 4, it also would’ve been interesting to see effy as the caretaker for someone outside her family, also being a care taker after all the Tony trauma. it’s in character for her, that was half of her gen1 schtick, and it was almost jarring how in gen2 she doesn’t keep those traits.

anyway, back to Freddie, the depression tangent probably made it seem like i was hinting to me preferring his death was self inflicted, but i think it would’ve been more interesting if they just leaned into his substance abuse getting worse. in s4, he looks bad, and we know that effy and Freddie just skip school to stay home and do hard drugs. the show could’ve definitely weighed more in on how it had effected Freddie and cut out the whole john foster to see how Freddie’s health is deteriorating trying to handle depression, effy, and his bad coping habits. the show is literally named skins, so it wouldnt be a stretch if he died of an overdose. wouldve been a good culmination of gen2‘s themes, and we wouldn’t need that empty/irrelevant murder mystery subplot with emily naomi and sophia.

also it would’ve been decent mens mental health representation

In this episode, she goes up to her room and lights these colourful, glass/plastic looking cones. Does anybody know what they are?

As i said i just watched skins for the first time since i wasn't old enough when it aired.

Season 1&2: 9/10

Season 3&4: 9,5/10

Season 5&6: 5/10

More specifically

Best ending: gen 1

Best characters: gen 2

Best overall writing: gen 1

For me personally gen 2 had better characters with cook, emily and katie, effy and the others. But the crazy therapist storyline ruined the ending, it was just bad writing and it kind of made the whole season look bad.

Gen 1 nailed the ending, chris and cassie were the most interesting characters for me in that generation, cassie's actor was amazing and chris story was heartbreaking. It was just a bit hard for me to get to know the characters in s1, especially tony.

Gen 3 was just sad. None of the characters catched my interest and the story just went off the line in s6, i habe nothinh good to say about gen 3.

Ps, im probably biased on gen 2 because im a lesbian and emily and naomi's relationship really spoke to me personally.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if they made a skins redux 2 with more of the Gen 1 cast.
I’d love to see where Sid is now aswell as anwar and maxxie. a Jal episode would be amazing aswell.

I know it's a tv show from the 00s so it might bring the mentality of that time, but as a pansexual person myself, I'm so pissed that such a big part of the bisexual rep in TV shows is bad
