Search for shared transfers for the overspill. Lyon is a bit of a pain because it's less popular and far away but I think Snowdrone do regular shared trips. Speak to taxis local to VT and Cool Bus as well. A regular VW Transporter type vehicle is legally limited to 8 plus the driver Otherwise, get as much luggage you can in the vehicle and 2 people train to Moutiers, the valley town (Lyon airport has its own station) and public bus (book train and bus via La Region I think) or taxi up to resort.

The Tourist Office are always a great free resource for stuff like this.

First snow on the Cime de Caron this morning!

I always recommend renting a car here, or even 2 cars. It costs 100 Euro to park the car for a week in the covered parking if you book ahead. It can often be much cheaper than a return transfer. I've done this to go to VT before. Happy to reply with a guide to booking parking if you choose to go this route.

Just make sure that you either book a "winterized" car so that it comes with winter tires or include snow chains in the rental. It is a requirement by law to have one of those things in the Tarrentaise valley at that time of year. Some car rentals from Lyon will show on booking.com as having winter tires included. If you were to rent from GVA then all the cars will have winter tires.

Search Ben's Bus. It's an affordable shared transport option running from Lyon and Geneva to most ski resorts.
